Hello! I’ have no idea what class to main, and for me it’s always been a human/charr no matter what which is what I’ll stick with.

I currently have a lvl 20 Warrior
A level 20 Thief
A level 45 Mesmer.

I have found that the mesmer has a really bad dps output no matter how survivable they are, a few swings from a thief or warriors guts them.

Back in 2012 Thiefs we’re able to just spend initiate on invis giving them something like 10 seconds of invis. With out a really good output of invis and sure they have all these blinks they seem worse in WvW.

Warrior has been very fun in PVP and I’m looking forward to WvW. However I’ve noticed they are very squishy. Enlighten me plz.

Elementalist looks very fun and very good but I’ve heard they’re OP and being nerfed which I wonder why cause I think they’re kind of weak.

put it like this play what feels best to you and you like . and do not worry about builds and all that . just pick a class that you like build it your self . and enjoy your self and if half way into it . another class gets your eye well then go enjoy it instead . the main thing is pick what you like and how you like and do not care about the rest . but have a whole lot of fun . and enjoy the game for what it is . and the rest will just come to you .

What you find fun. All classes have their pros and cons. Currently Elementalist is the strongest class in pvp. (hopefully some slight tweaks in-bound) And mesmer is the strongest roaming class in wvw. (condi)

Aside from strength though, all classes are fairly competitive (outside of tournament play). Even though google could help, I’ll give a brief note on each class and what makes them fun/not fun.

Guardian: Powerful, lots of support, crazy burns/low mobility
Warrior: Mobility, big damage, warrior like/low skill ceiling
Rev: Donno much yet
Engineer: Versatile, high skill ceiling, good sustain/requires good knowledge of the game to be good
Ranger: Low skill floor, versatile (less than engie), the planning profession/dependant on pet
Thief: Mobility, easy stealth, can’t catch me!/squishy (don’t touch me!)
Elementalist: Great sustain, high skill ceiling, great support/limited viable builds due to squishy default class
Mesmer: Spike mobility, stealth, amazing niche support (portal, moa, etc.)/Rely on clones, sort of squishy by default
Necromancer: POWERHOUSE, low skill floor builds (minions)/ low mobility, limited sustain (might change with Reaper)

Good luck, and dont be afraid to try each profession in Heart of the Mists to get a feeling for how they play. In there, you are automatically max level with all skills and traits unlocked.

to be honest decide by ur self i tried every class in this game and i liked the necromancer and i love this class and play it alot after that i created thief / warrior / mesmer for my pvp daily and i like the thief class so now im lvling it with some tome of knowledge + mission and EotM its fun to try every thing and u can try to lvl them all and play some pvp try the skills but to be honest i love the necromancer
and i dont like the elementalist / engineer so thats my opinion

Elementalist seems fun.

I mained Elementalist before supernerf-downscaling patch hit, and it was fun. I have a mesmer too, who is fun but not as much fun as the Elementalist (IMO). I exclusively played PvE and sometimes zerged in WvW when I needed cash and gear.

I have a lowbie Guard as well, but he never quite clicked. I played an asura Engineer for the personal story achievement, and somewhat enjoyed the playstyle, it’s quite unique, but I never became invested in the character as I dislike asura in general.

I heard that the Tempest (Ele elite spec) is rather meh, and Chronomancer (Mesmer elite spec) is super awesome, but may therefore be nerf bait. I haven’t tried or researched the guard elite or the engi elite.

Post-supernerf-downscaling, the elementalist can still hold his own (I use staff mostly). But the power drop was so significant that I lost all interest in playing him. In lower levels I used to just look in the general direction of mobs and they’d melt, and now I have to fight it out with bandits in Queensdale nearly on the same level I have to fight it out with the top-level undead. It’s just heartbreaking, like someone took a bird and plucked half the feathers out of it, so while it’s still alive, instead of flying it can only sorta hop around. But if you don’t have a tricked-out 80, you probably won’t notice it. I haven’t even bothered trying the mesmer out after the nerf hit.

Anyway, back on topic – Ele was the most fun of all my characters, yes he’s squishy but you have good escape moves and mitigation (not the least of which is your damage), so I recommend maining Ele for PVE.

Just know that there is not enough engineers in the world.

ele is kinda in sweet spot right now, high dps, high sustainability. try it.
