I’ve tried every class and I like Elementalist, Thief and Warrior the most, I don’t know what to pick though. I want something with a high skillcap and I want to do both pve, pvp and wvw 
What class to pick?
Ele masterrace
PVE: Ele is the only class which is taken twice in a meta group
PvP: Top Teams stack at least 2 Elementalists every match
WvW: Every commander wants eles in their Zerg ( you might see a lot of longbow rangers, but organized Zergs always want eles.)
Warrior is fine too but heavily overplayed
Thief is good, but don’t expect to ein 1v1 fights in pvp unless you are really good, it isnt your job anyway
there are no classes…..so, happy choosing.

and if you have HoT you will love reaper.
The best is Ele. You can’t go wrong with ele. It’s fun and powerful in all formats.
PvE Ele is fantastic.
lots of group healing. lots of AoE. boom boom.
PVP ele is pretty versatile and useful.
WvW ele also good.

Ele and thief are pretty much the top choices for a class thats wanted almost everywhere (thieves arent wanted in wvw zergs, but they are good for roaming/scouting) and has a decent skillcap, so its really up to you. Theyre really different playstyles so look through some guides on the class forums to get a better idea
If you are getting HOT then id go with the thief, their specialization looks way cooler (melee staff) than what eles get (lol warhorn), and looking cool is pretty much all that matters in this game

I sense a incoming Ele nerf, what with them being so powerful at the moment.
They aren’t Overpowered, They’re just well balanced. They’ve always been in a good spot.
They do have weaknesses. it just seems the general player base consists of I WILL PUSH ALL MY BUTTONS NOW.

Neither of which work really well against elementalists. I get ganked by the occasional thief, interrupt mesmers, certain warrior and guardians.
It’s more skill than the actual class itself.

1. There can be two guardians and warriors that do just as well.
2. Yeah, the reasons for that should be looked into by the balancing devs.
3. Ele has great support and AoE and tanks fairly well when geared correctly.
4.Warriors are the star class, pretty much every lead character in an RPG is the warrior archtype. Paladins/guardians come in at a close second. Magic users on the other hand are typically cast in supporting roles.
