My Mesmer just hit 80 and needed some gear, so I picked up a 2 Mesmer gear box and got 2 Cleric’s Focus of Debility (yellow/rare) level 79. Kept one and salvaged the other for Ecto.

So what have you gotten?

Nothing,im in no rush to buy anything.Saving them up till i hit atleast 30+.

I took the hit and bought the mystic binding agent for science. I was too greedy hoping for a quick buck in hoping that it would allow you to transform x lodestone into y lodestone. Turns out it’s a replacement to Elonian Wine (with another meaningless feature) and as such, I’m out 10 laurels.

Oh well, I’m just gonna collect them now.

Saving for an Amulet as well. It’s something that you can only get through Laurels and not anywhere else.

I got the warrior box, had a rare weapon and a rare piece of armor. I am already full exotic so I salvaged them and got 6 ecto’s.

Same here, saving for the amulet. Hoping all ascended things, rings etc. will eventually be available with laurels, so after that will just save them with hope.

for the near future, I’ll be only buying amulets and utility infusions until my 3 characters are equipped. so that’s ~3 months. by then, we will probably have more stuff to buy with laurels (like ascended earrings)

I couldn’t find any backpacks being sold for laurels… did I misunderstand? I thought the intention was to make all of the ascension items currently dropping in fractals available in other ways… i.e., laurels. That would have been my first purchase as I’m currently using the guild backpack. Following that, I would replace my exotic accessories over time.

I am going to get two ascended rings (70 laurels) and a ascended amulet (30 lauerls), then the infusions for them…

I have 20 laurels banked atm…

Its going to take me 4-5 months…

I hope Anet don’t change whats on offer around before I get what I want…add stuff by all means…

I also hope Anet perhaps give us some laurels as a reward if we FULLY complete the 4 month living story…fingers crossed…

I got one of those sickles back on Day 1 to see if it would make a noticeable difference on the number of passion flowers I could find. It did. I went from getting about 1 in 25 nodes, to 1 out of the entire 125 uses of the pick.

Wow, i would have thought it was a guaranteed promotion to lodestones, not a converter. Can’t you take cores and promote them to lodestones using that?

It is more then a replacement.

I’m not fond of gamble boxes, so I will only be spending them on items where I know what I am getting. As of now, I have a long-term goal to Ascended-ize my 4 80’s.

Want to get gear faster do more dungeons (IE monthlies). BIS gear shouldnt be tied to grinding a dungeon or activity over and over and over again.

funny stuff. I have to ask: how many did you get at the 1 in 25 rate? I’ve harvested around 500 and haven’t got a single one with a mithril sickle.

You don’t have to grind an activity over and over and over again. On any given day you have to kill x things, kill x things underwater, craft x things, harvest x things, do x events, talk to y npc, res x people or dodge x attacks.

…Essentially, you have to play the game. Most of those activities can be done clearing an area, doing story missions, running dungeons, or even while in WvW. And collectively take under an hour.

And with the Feb update you even get to pick which things you want to do x of.

So yeah, sorry to tell you, BIS slot gear requires you to play the game for a decent amount of time and requires a variety of stuff that is accomplished by doing practically anything except for sPvP.

Amulet here i am going to get the power crit dmg Toughness for my guardian. I am trying to make a all in build with Right-Hand Strength.

Why buy rings with laurels when you can get them in a fraction of time required doing Fractals (and get more loot on top of that)?

You can double your return on cores, shards, and fragments. Not lodestones though.

I’m saving my laurels for the cat tonic, or for the wolf mini.

I started harvesting about a week before the Rich node disappeared, and quit when it did.

I harvest with 4 characters, well used to. It’s about 20 nodes a run. In that week, I found 3 flowers everyday except one day, where I got one. I use Orichalcum Sickle. So the answer is about 18 Flowers then.

At the lowest lever it replaces 4 bottles of wine, then 3 at the next tier, 2 at the next and from cores to lodestones it replaces 1.

I wanted to craft the firebringer. I can get enough crystaline dust and orichalcum by farming that I won’t have to buy much of them but the molten lodestones were a pain. Buying cores and creating lodestones means that I can get a 105g weapon for around 10g.

At the moment I’ll just be getting amulets + utility infusions for all my active characters. Until they introduce other ways to get ascended amulets that’s all I’ll be spending my laurels on.

I really don’t see why rings cost 35 laurels when you can get them for 10 fractal daily tokens. Should rings not be easier to get than amulets? Seems a bit unfair on the people who don’t enjoy fractals.

I bought one of the crafting mat bags just to see whats in it. Glad I waited for others to buy the gear boxes before wasting any on those.

All I really want are some kitten lodestones. It’s demoralizing.

I’ve finished 1 daily since the patch that introduced them, I purchased a 1 laurel T6 crafting bag and got 3 t6 mats logged out. Last time I “played” I “played” the TP, made 30g and logged out.

Adding yet another currency to the game via daily officially burnt me out since I came from a game that had a metric ton of daily’s (Something I’ve always hated) but felt I had to do them for some silly inscription, or gear for progression.

No thanks.
