What do you do for FUN?
I play for fun, and once I get my legendary, I will still play for fun.
Having a carrot on a stick provides some motivation, but if that’s the only reason you play a game then it’s not really fun, is it?
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
WvWvW. Always a good time. Have had some epic battles in there that I’ve never experienced in any other game before.
I mix and match skills/weapons to see what handles certain PvE monsters/areas better.
And I keep the combinations that are a more ‘actiony’ and mentally engaging experience.
It means carrying with me lots of (cheap) equipment though. XD
Mostly WvW. Whatever I do in PvE is mainly to get gears for different builds to play around with.
My fun starts after I finish my dailies and running all paths in TA. That’s when I hit “Log out” and the fun begins.
I did the Crimson Plateau JP in Diessa yesterday when I happened to be nearby. Fun stuff, especially the big jumps.

If I might ask, why are you still playing at all?
the game was designed, by keeping in mind that everything would be on the wiki/internet.
that i think, is smart.
because obviously people will eventually check out the internet or a game this big.
so might as well design it as such.
go check your receipes online! no quest nor npc will teach them to you.
might seem ridiculous, but in fact its smart to avoid spending time writing down receipe when everybody will google them anyway.
to answer the thread;
jumping puzzle is my “fun time”.
and levelling up character, not feeling forced into endgame and laurels and all that.
just going at your own speed without feeling the pressure of endgame is the most rewarding experience.

It kills a few hours each morning, I guess.
I only do WvW jp since probably over 1 month now.
There’s nothing else to do that gives me fun.
i grind endlessly
the wvw jp is absolutely amazing.
im kind of hoping for more “pve/pvp” mix content like that.
Troll the forums. Much more fun than the game itself. No RNG on the forums.
My wife and I play together. I’m a pretty core gamer and she just plays w/e I play every now and then. It’s fun when I do all the puzzles and then have to do it for her because she can’t complete them. We have lvld 3 toons to 80 and now working on our 4th set.

good luck, keep grinding! you can do it!

I am leveling 3 alts atm and they are pretty close to each other 56,57,58.
So when I can play I decide who I am in the mood for and then I just explore.
I keep them in different maps so it is always new, even though I went through on my main, I love climbing mountains and poking my nose in holes and promising looking caves.
Sometimes I get caught up in event chains and sometimes I just lone wolf, some nights I’m in the mood to craft so I do that. I also love the strange surprises and interesting people you meet along the way.
I guess doing whatever I feel like is fun for me- I love that I can do that
Fractal is fun until you get 2 guildies kicking a whole team on last fractal.
Dungeons are fun until lvl 80 after which they’re too easy to be fun.
Open world is fun until DR kicks in and you get zero loots.
WvW is fun until nightcapping takes over your entire zone.
GW2 is a lot of fun, but it all comes with some flaws that can ruin it.
I have a really insane number of alts, and I keep them fresh by working out different leveling paths for each. Eventually I’ll probably wind up with 100% zone completion on all 14 of them though. When map completion loses its appeal, I hang out in LA or DR and roleplay (Tarnished Coast server). My enjoyment of random pick-up group RP has diminished a good deal since my younger days, but it’s still good every now and then.
Euro Truck Simulator 2!
Oh, in GW2 you mean? well, WvW can be okay. I wish there was more than 2 maps though. Other than that, I don’t know what to tell you.
our guild hosts “jump puzzle races” to kill the time.
no skills or speed boosts allowed, no traits to boost speed allowed. Just straight up running and jumping. its a lot of fun.
usually prizes for the first few finishers. spectral wall serves as a great finish line
WvW.
It’s what I’ve built my character for and what will keep me playing. It still needs huge improvements, but playing against actual people keeps it fresh and sometimes intense.
Strangely enough, I actually like hanging around in Metrica Province. Has some of my favorite events.
costume brawl I’m having one right now with 14 people!
What do I do for fun? Renaissance festivals. Or I wait in vain for when Netflix will stream Fringe or Leverage . . . not happening though. Alas.
Oh, wait, you mean Guild Wars 2?
- Do my dailies with self-imposed challenges. Like pick a zone I don’t know like the back of my hand, do it without changing my weapons, do it with no waypoint travel . . .
- Chatter with guildmates about how much I enjoyed an aspect of the personal story.
- Chatter with guildmates how frustrating a skill challenge / vista / event is.
- Look around for Whispers Agents in disguises.
- Troll trolls. I mean the monster type, not forum trolls.
- Prove an asura wrong.
- Beat a norn at bear wrestling. When they’re the bear.
- Get some ale and watch the battle for Ascalon City’s ruins, helping up charr soldiers so they can get back in there.
- Send a box of catnip to the Black Citadel.
Level each class to 80, and do map completion
Exploring and discovering. Getting used to the mechanics of my numerous alts. I have six alts, seven later today when I buy a new slot so I can get myself a norn guardian. I can’t decide whether to make it male or female. They’re going to be keeping me busy for quite a while, regardless.
I really love jumping puzzles. Goemm’s Lab is probably my favorite; I’m visually impaired which makes it especially challenging for me (hell, it makes the whole game challenging) so I can piddle away a few hours trying to get through that thing if I have time to burn.
Farming in Orr, oddly. Very lazy farming since it doubles as exploration. I always played games growing up, but I didn’t get really intensely into it until the survival horror genre was born, and Orr reminds me of it. The place is creepy and I find the water areas downright terrifying (hydrophobia), and there are little hidden nooks and crannies everywhere. I was ecstatic when I discovered Zho’qafa Catacombs for the first time. And I do love running the temples and getting piles of mats from all the moldy bags I pick up. I almost have enough for full crafted exotic gear now. People in Orr are also especially prone to add you to parties, which I find both amusing and fun. You meet some real characters running around out there. I’ve found the concentration of kind, helpful folks to be higher in Orr than in any other zone, at least on Tarnished Coast.
I find WvW to be a joy, especially the epic struggles that happen really late at night.
I’m always elated when I bump into an event I’ve never done before, or a rare event. I’m going to have to catch Shadow Behemoth now that he’s fixed, I’ve actually never been able to fight him before and I started playing on launch day.
I also enjoy Fractals, as long as I’m playing with my guild rather than a pug. It’s typically four of us and one random member, and we almost always wind up with someone fun.
So yes. The game has innumerable issues, and goodness knows I’ve ragged on Anet for those problems, but I’m genuinely happy with many other aspects of the game. I hope, given time, all the kinks can be ironed out.
I like to wander around the level 1 areas, especially Holebreks and the Grove. Sometimes spend some time in Southsun Cove, walk around a city or 2. Take a nap/absorb sunlight (whatever it is Sylvari do to relax)/pet my dog.
Warrior of GOLD
(Whiteside Ridge)
I romp around Queensdale leaving piles of bandit corpses, making centaur shish-kabobs, helping the locals deal with their wasp, ogre, oakheart, and shadow behemoth problems, and providing help to those who ask for it. It’s the least the ONE AND ONLY HERO OF SHAEMOOR can do.

i know. This is what I think: i think i can, i think i can, i think i can.
WvWvW. Always a good time. Have had some epic battles in there that I’ve never experienced in any other game before.
^ This.
It’s been a while since i dont have real fun… the 0,0000001% for drops kind of kills the illusion of reward and once you did it all it becomes kind of meh
I haven’t bothered with anything major really until loot issues are fixed. Used to level alts, but needed a break from that.
So been working on map completion. It’s nice doing it on my 80 Mesmer cause there is no work to get the next level and get new gear. It is just going out and exploring and enjoying yourself. You’re not trying for anything cause you are already geared at 80. You are just enjoying the sights.

I talk to my Guildmates…they help the relative grinds go by faster

So much this. Honestly, it’s pretty easy to get to lvl 80 with all exotic gear. So you’re left with, you know, just playing the game. Sure, you can grind away for legendaries, but that’s not my thing. I’m just slowly hacking away at map completion in between dungeons and WvW. Still have a good third of the world left to see— maybe I’ll get bored after that, maybe not. But I’m still having fun, so I still play.
I only recently got to 80, I’m still having fun exploring, mostly doing the orr zones, getting them done. Joined a sizable guild so there’s always somebody to dungeon with, little sPvP here and there is fun.
Just enjoying building my character up, getting gold, gear, etc, still haven’t fully figured the game out in terms of what gear i want to get, how to get it etc, but i’m getting there.
By far the most fun I’m having in the game atm is ‘questing’ on an alt with a couple friends who got the game. we’re around lvl 36-40, and it’s been a blast.
Nothing. Not much fun going on lately…
I know this sounds crazy, but after running AC so many times to get PVT gear, I actually started to have fun running it and trying to become more efficient, teaching new players, etc
Every time i am frustrated with WvW or am sick of working on my legendary, I come back for a quick AC run
Well one thing I like is taking my level 80 in full exotic gear and going to low level areas. Sure there is no challenge to it, but I enjoy not having to try. I’m not in to sitting on the edge of my seat for hours at a time and trying to do everything perfect.
If I’m in the mood for something harder, I’ll go to Orr or a dungeon.
But the most fun would be….coming across a situation were someone is about to die and saving the day….that’s the best yet.
