What do you enjoy about the game?
Funny, for me the story was atrocious and boring, and the lore has been stuck in a stale state for over a year now.
What I like.. mostly pvp when I can stomach conquest.
Farming occasionally
Permanent achievements
Running stuff with guild
I love it too. Agreed, there are some “things” that need to be either fixed or tweaked, but in truth, I’m enjoying all that content that doesn’t involve fractals, farming (although I do join a train occasionally) or beating my head over getting that one “lottery” drop.
i enjoy:
art/design/animation (includes armor weapons)
dungeons
people in la
my guild
wvw/ pvp occasionally
Champ,
The art, that’s my favorite thing about the game I should’ve mentioned earlier. Tyria has beautiful lands, scenery, structures & civilizations. I like to draw, so I get a lot of inspiration from Tyria.
I love the world. I love that I can get lost in just doing stuff, without really planning it out.
When I take an alt through a zone, sometimes I’m just following a trail of things to gather when an event pops up. Occasionally it’s one I’ve never seen before. Or I’ll run into something I didn’t notice the first three or four times through. Or I’ll catch a conversation between two NPCs that I missed that aren’t associated with an event at all.
It’s so easy to get distracted and lost in just running around the zones and exploring. Even after all the time I’ve spent in game, I’m still noticing new stuff regularly.
Guild puzzles and guild rushes are fun for me too…in fact most of the content I run with the guild including dugeons, Tequatl, the holiday stuff.
And I like a lot of the mini-games that have come out.
WvW and the lack of the trinity.
combat
Being an Elementalist.
It is a totally different experience playing this game on good headphones or surround sound. It’s like the difference between playing call of duty on your TV and then putting on headphones, you realize that footsteps can tell you exactly where the enemies are.
Lornar’s Pass is one of the best for this. (the birds)
WvW, Dungeon running, no trinity, friendly cooperative play in PvE (mostly), some visual aesthetics (skins, environs etc), sexy chick toons, easy levelling and ease to get second best tier items (exotics) in game, in which is sufficient to do almost any content with.
WvW and the lack of the trinity.
A few aspects of it still exist, you’re restricted to 1 of 3 armor types (light/med/heavy) & you’re restricted in the use of weapons.
The game-play/combat especially as an Elementalist (Sylvari); I’ve never felt so in control of a character (though there was a steep learning curve involving the use a many-button mouse to play Ele properly, but very rewarding in the end).
The scenery/world; exploring it and getting lost in it. It is a nice escape. I quite like that it is fairly solitary some of the time, and then you just stumble across people or a group of people. I would love to see some new areas available to explore..
The occasional bit of farming.
Dungeon runs especially with people from your own guild.
WvWvW and PvP are great fun, if a little frustrating at times.
This is one of only 2 or 3 games I play, and although there are some things that frustrate me, I still love it. It is certainly the only game that has me logging on almost daily.
I’ve never been a big fan of crafting though, it feels a little cumbersome. I’d perhaps get used to it if I did it more.
Art/Animation
Developmer communication
Random world dialogue
Jumping(not puzzles, just jumping)
Combat
Sylvari
Asura
Hm… the short list… or the long one? Choices, choices…
Things I like, in no particular order:
The attention to detail
Scenery
Random npc dialogs (newlyweds in Gendarran Fields crack me up every time)
Downscaling (!!!!!)
Living Story (still a little rough, but still like it)
Freedom to roam whenever, wherever (please note, I didn’t say I survived, just that the ability is there)
Ambient sounds (on most maps)
DE’s (yes, I’m insane)
I think I’ll stop with the short list…
Art, music, maps, all that good stuff.
Yesterday I was out in the Harathi Hinterlands with my thief just clearing the map at my own pace when suddenly I noticed an Elementalist needing some help.
As I go to help her, I just followed, next thing I know I’m with a collection of folks taking down the Group Events.
After it was done, we all went our ways and I enjoyed the grouping/separating we all did in that instance.
None of it was forced, it just flowed pretty well.
Dynamic combat
Beautiful world design
Personal storyline
Downscaling
Dynamic Event chains
That pre-searing song
Character/race design
No trinity
No dps meters
Exploration
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
The fact that there is no perma invincibility (Shadow Form),
This game is soloable, no heroes and crap
Dungeons!!! Love the money I can make doing them, especially now with 1g per path
Restore that which was lost. And all shall be as one.”
If you read about the lore on wikipedia it’s really interesting, but it’s delivered really porly ingame.
The only thing i like left is pimping out my characters and make them look good. I enjoy pvp from time to time until i get frustrated with all the flaws of it.
The vendor dialogue: “I have everything you need!” and then the wares pop up and all she sells is a rainbow cupcake. It’s like she knows me.
The sanctum sprint, the keg brawl, and occasionally some of the other mini-games.
Unidentified dyes. Maybe it’s going to be my 7543rd lime breeze…. or maybe it’ll be celestial.
The fact that I can get awesome, meaningful drops on any of my characters, regardless of their level.
The robo cats in fractals and their sound effects.
The way the whole game changes and looks brighter when one person stops to show me how to get to a vista, or half the map comes running when I ask for help with a skillpoint.
The super stunning artwork.
Leveling a new class. And leveling an old class with new weapons and utilities.

Because we can’t be angry about both?
Because there isn’t a gear grind [for exotics], I feel like I can take my time and play however I want to. I like the constant living story updates. I like that you have so many choices in regards to collecting equipment. I guess I mostly like the fact that I don’t feel like I’m always playing to catch-up. In other games, I was always the last of my friends to level and get to certain content, and here i feel like I can relax and play without being left behind.
Guild Wars 2 is outstanding. I love it. The story & the lore is great and Tyria is a beautiful, colossal world ready to be treaded. Still, the game isn’t perfect. There are bugs & balances to be sorted out as any MMORPG.
I want to take this chance share to appreciate the good things in this game. Feel free to share about anything you enjoy about the game.
The game offers nearly everything you look for in an MMO with superb quality. Great visuals, combat system, creative races and ideas, customization, mechanics that encourage the community to work to together, the list goes on.
I do have to agree on the storytelling aspect though, compared to Warcraft who was really good at grabbing your attention with a serious story, Guild Wars 2 feels a little “goofy” as far as in game delivery goes. I had to actually read the lore online, the written lore is actually told much better.
Still, this doesn’t hurt the game very much, what we have right now is an outstanding product worth the purchase price.

lol The voice acting & delivery is goofy once in a while, but that’s been true since the first Guild Wars. This is a hell of an improvement!
