What do you like about GW2
Many things:
1. The sense of community on my server and in my guild. IoJ may be small but it’s really full of a lot of cool people.
2. The scenery. It still floors me how beautiful this game is.
3. I can play the game as a way to turn off my brain and relax (i.e. FGS champ farm) or get heart pounding fun in WvW roaming parties.
4. While time gating for a lot of things is annoying and probably stops me from striving for certain things, the daily and monthly APs are fairly easy to achieve and helps me feel rewarded just for signing in and having fun every day.
5. Playing dress up is fun and I can do it with many different characters and looks. Finding just the right sword to complete my look or maybe the perfect dye color is awesome.
6. You really can make it as hard or easy as you want, so can play however you feel like at any time.
7. No subscription fee – ANet does see a lot of my cash anyway with gem purchases – like, WAY too much of my cash.
Agree with most of the likes here. I continue to play because I find it enjoyable with a lot of play style options.
With that said, this community on the forums is very disappointing. Can’t wait for the countless replies of “Nothing in this game is enjoyable”.
Far too many things to list. Honestly I like the vast majority of stuff in this game, that’s why I play it.
But one thing in particular which drew me in and still makes me really happy is all the things hidden around the open world. Jumping puzzles, mini dungeons, even just NPCs in unexpected places with some amusing dialogue.
I’m probably the only person who enjoyed getting the cartographer title in GW1, I don’t feel like I’ve really finished a game until I’ve poked around every last little corner of it. But so many games have these big, beautiful worlds with almost nothing in it. You go right down to the lost little corner of the map, scrabble up and behind a rock pile and…it’s the edge of the map.
Sometimes that’s the case in GW2 as well, but sometimes it’s the start of a jumping puzzle or a mini-dungeon or who knows what.
It’s really nice to know the devs knew people would do that and actively encouraged or rewarded it. In most games I feel like they’d just shake their heads over me wasting so much time when there’s monsters to kill.

Here’s some other things off the top of my head:
- No subscription fee. (I can play or stop as I like without worrying about ‘getting my moneys worth’.)
- No open-world PvP. I’ve recently gotten into WvW and I’m really enjoying it, but at the same time I love knowing I can go back to PvE and not have to worry about whether other players are friendly.
- No kill stealing, grabbing resource nodes etc. basically no griefing.
- Level – scalling. I was going to put this in with the ones above because it means you don’t have to worry (as much) about high level characters wiping out all the spawns you need, but I put it separately because it works both ways. I also get to experience all the starting zones without it being painfully boring and easy.
- The art work. It’s just beautiful.
- The emphasis on movement in combat. Pretty much every other RPG I play seems boring by comparison.

My #1 favorite thing about this game is that just about anyone can play with anyone. I play with a group of friends and no one needs to feel pressured into playing a specific class at a certain level. Anyone can play any class / spec with any other class / spec at any level and still play together.
We left SWTOR specifically because of this issue, and our stay in EQ2 was extended due to the mentoring system.
Like. 75% of the game is pretty good for me.
I’m quite fond of little things, such as how names can have spaces, but some other favorites are music, visualisation and design, andcombat.
1. Combat system , I like action based combat by dodge and moving while atacking
2. The world and the graphics look pretty good.
3. Norns , yep I like norns if there was no norn , it would be hard for me to like my character .
4. Tpvp , I like pvp alot , sometimes I don’t even notice how fast the time goes , I just keep playing and smash some nubs
What I don’t like :
1. Zergs , I hate feeling useless and pressing 111
2. The lack of skills and build variety , I would still pay
10k gems to get dual class system back from gw1
3. The lack of things to do , Now I only do tPvP and dungeons which
Are boring but I do them for my twilight <3
The artwork is truly spectacular.
The original lore.
The humor.
The combat movement.
5-man content.
Lack of hard-coded trinity.
Won’t list what I don’t like. Would take too long.
It is a gorgeous game world.
The branching choices in personal story (I wish this had been more developed, honestly)
The way the gemstore isn’t buy-to-win
The lack of Trinity-based combat.
Steampunk elements!
Meaningful loot on all levels of characters.
Active combat- run/cast, dodge, all of it.
Dyes!
Jumping puzzles.
Mesmer portals.
Emphasis on the home instance that’s been showing up lately.
Collaborative Development.
The community.

Because we can’t be angry about both?
The world is beautiful I simply love running around and exploring and finding new things.
I love the combat.. I hated combat in WoW…this feels much more dynamic and I feel like I do more in combat. Combo’s with other characters are great, dodging…other games feel so static after combat in GW2
I like the different classes, I have a level 80 of every class now and love playing different ones with different styles. I truly wish there was even more build diversity in the classes but each class right now feels different.
I also enjoy playing dress-up with my characters and finding new dye’s (I don’t buy any) and trying them on my characters…designing their “look” to be unique to other characters in the game by mixing elements of different armors.
I love not having the trinity..there is no pressure for me or my friends to play a specific class…in WoW, I really wanted to play a main “blaster” but my friends needed a tank so I was forced into playing a tank whenever we were together…I hated that….with GW2 if I want to play my ele, or warrior, or thief, or guardian…I can grab any one of them (and often do) and go do a dungeon with my friends.
Open world and scaling of events…this is probably the single greatest thing about GW2, in WoW I had to be in a raiding party to enjoy certain parts of the game..in GW2 I feel like I should be able to enjoy all aspects of the game whether I am part of a huge guild or not (part of my frustration with new Tequatl, New Southsun). If the scaling goes away and events can only be accomplished by huge groups or huge guilds…I will be finding another game to play….
I think my favorite thing in this entire game is that polar bear in Lornaar’s Pass who’s just sitting there warming himself up by the fire lol.
