What do you like about the new updates?
Though I haven’t earned enough Laurels to purchase them, I’m keen on the crafting starter sets and the crafting material bags offered by Laurel Vendors.
Haven’t seen anything that was worth the hype the patch was getting.
The broom! It’s a really nice fun-item.
So the only nice things in this patch are the 2 gem shop vanity items? Great…..

Complete opposite for me, but to each his own.

Funny because I feel the same as Krom.
It was labelled as the patch that would “make or break” people returning to GW2. But tbh, the patch didn’t contain anything at the level of which it would make or break the game for anyone.
It’s just very, middle of the road.
Nothing at all. In fact, I positively dislike everything I have experienced in the patch. I wish rollback was an option, but sadly no one has mentioned it as an option.
I’ve liked everything I’ve specifically looked at so far.
- The new dailies were fine, although I understand they are bugged now? Not sure what that is about. I finished the first set last night. I didn’t realize that the revive one would work on NPCs so I popped back into WvW before going to bed and sure enough, found an ally to rez.
- The cattlepult in Diessa was fixed! Got my last vista in PvE land, and now just need one in Eternal Battleground. Woot!
- Having an uncontested waypoint at the southern end of Cursed Shore may just be the best thing ever.
- I definitely noticed the increased gaps between the Risen in Cursed Shore and the Straits. I didn’t fight enough to really notice the CC changes, but just moving through the zone was definitely far less tedious than it had been previously.
- Ambivalent about the new achievements counter.
- The tooltips in the new attributes interface are much more helpful. I do think the ordering of attributes needs some work. I wondered why the attributes related to condition damage, for example, were not together. Same for critical damage, I think.
- Rendering in WvW – I only played for about an hour last night, but it did seem to be improved, in that enemies were actually rendering for me. It was a little weird sometimes seeing green names floating above invisible allies, but I’ll take that over thinking there are 5 enemies in front of me when there are, in fact, 30. That’s just an initial impression though, that could change with further testing.
- I did Arah, story mode. For me personally, I think they maybe toned it down a bit too much. I would have liked a happy medium between the original version and the current version. I feel like it lost a little bit of the epic feel that it had the first time I ran it. On the other hand, it’s much faster now which is a Good Thing for a lot of players, myself included. Overall, still quite enjoyable, for me.

It was labelled as a small patch to lay the ground work for the patches coming in February and March.
Anet never claimed it to be more than that. They were also very clear in what was to be expected in this patch.
Any further hype or expectations are the fault of the player blindly hoping for more than what was promised.
Everything Anet said would be in this patch was delivered. As such the patch, in my eyes, easily lived up to the hype.
I got to add another rather slight detail I like about this patch: the fountain in Lions Arch is back again.
Regarding Orr:
-I’ve noticed some of the annoying cc (the pull-back skill for example) is not being used by risen mobs.
-The mobs are larger, so they are easier to see.
-Some new walking animations for the caster risen.
-I’ve only run through one area that had a noticibly reduced density of risen. Many other areas that have a comically high number of risen have been untouched.
-Not noticing any change in drop volume or quality (though I may not be paying enough attention)
My feelings: A small change, and I’ll take it. Just removing the annoying cc’s was nice.

Nothing really stands out, i was pretty depressed with it actually. Kinda expected more open world fixes and more Class balance…less fluff..
I’m glad the risen abomination is much bigger visually than it was before.

Sorry. What i meant “it was labelled the patch that would make or break”, i meant by players, bloggers, MMO outlets, youtube vid creators and GW2 oriented podcasts.
Soz. Should have been clearer on that.
Both Tales of Tyria on the livestream, and Massively on podcast have both said generally, that the update is something to look forward to, but if they don’t start changing some things urgently, then it’s heading to a dark place.
Though, we both may be speaking out of turn here.
The patch cant yet justify the hype factor because, as you said, it’s only some of the changes…not all.
The rest we’ll have to wait for in Feb.
I don’t know about you guys but it looked like they have enhanced the colour display?
It looks nicer it already looked good but it looks even better now.
My friend felt the same, has anyone else noticed this?
I also like the new daily tracker and all the bug fixes :-).

Indeed.
Though it would appear that those blogs were at fault for setting players expectations higher than what Anet had said was coming.
Feb/March will be the core content. Those are the real meat of this update after all.
Makes me wonder though. Colin said Jan was a “small” patch. I’m looking forward to seeing what Anet’s idea of “big” is. :p
I like all of the update. Haven’t found one thing I dislike.
The fractals fix is nice, ran lvls 4-12 last night for the first time. And I love the dungeon fixes, no more hiding behind bugging out bosses or WP zerging.

“January and February will be our biggest updates to date. They’re even bigger than all the stuff we did in October, November and December. And, I think that when people see how much stuff they’re gonna get for no monthly fee in January and February, they’re probably going to be blown away. These two months combined are basically an expansion’s worth of content for free.”
Under that, my assumption is that this Jan patch was the first part of the “meaty stuff” then Feb is the second stage, and the rest of the year will be smaller additions. But even by dev’s the hype factor is WAYYYYY up there. You can’t blame this completely on player expectation.

While I don’t like the cost of the laurel gear, I’m fine with the Chauncey and Goedulf minis.
I like the rebalance touches to general Orrian levels, what little I’ve played so far.
I like the amount of event fixes in Queensdale, although I’m dubious about how long they’ll last before jamming up again.
I like the addition of jewellery to the Orrian Temple vendors.
I like the new dailies, including the Combo Killer one.
I like that I can once more preview armours from different professions.
While I’m not a fan of Fractals, I appreciate that you can now reconnect.
I like that World Transfer Fee has finally been implemented, although I fear it may be too late to save some servers.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
