Even though lots of people have given up on GW2 and returned to games like SWTOR, Rift, WoW, or moved on to newer shinier games like FFXIV: A Realm Reborn (which actually looks quite amazing..), what do you love about GW2 that keeps you around?

For me it’s the accessibility and the easiness that is GW2:

-There are no complicated mechanics, nothing in the game is really threatening and everything can be breezed through by the most casual / unskilled players (probably like me LOL)

-It’s hard to get lost in the world, which is great! I used to always get lost in the big complicated worlds of SWG, Lotro, Rift, you name it, but GW2 made it really easy and streamlined in that you can literally warp to so many different places in any map. There’s no need to wander around aimlessly in a big endless world!

-To add on that, I love GW2’s focus on instanced content! The world feels like it’s still changing when you go into that instance into a new zone knowing that it will be gone in 2 weeks and replaced by another new zone which will be gone 2 weeks after that. The game is ever changing and all we have to do is walk into the instance instead of wandering around the world!

So what do you love about GW2 that keeps you here??

Gonna keep making threads like this, huh?

My advice, make the thread title as controversial as possible. You name it, they will rage. That’s why the “Appeals to Casuals” one was so successful.

Still, I like the way you troll! Most people think that trolling is making stupid, offensive posts and that’ll make people mad. But that just gives away the game, it tells people that you’re obviously trolling. However, the best kind is when a person states something that’s ignorant or offensive but sounds very sincere. It plays on other people’s need to correct the original post, often in an angry tone. Google Ken M, he’s a legendary troll of Yahoo news but since moved on to Facebook pages and Twitter.

Take a look at this one picture.

http://i.imgur.com/ePm1NqZ.jpg

He starts off with a moronic post. Most people would start off with something quite ineffective, like “Obama is the best president ever, NSA can look at my porn all they want”, but that’s obvious. The thing is, people actually believe Ken M is a moron. Alas, as they say, it was a trap.

People then respond to his post, asking him why they think so. They’re masterfully pulled in when Ken M strikes the last blow. As seen with his last post in that picture. Amazing.

Here’s another brilliant play by Ken M.

http://i.imgur.com/oNvi7Lu.jpg

He opens up with the same thing. But a lot more people are baited by him. He rolls with the punches by posting more obscure messages. More people are baited and a person even starts getting mad at Ken M’s vagueness. And then the last message? Brilliant. He even maintains the same confidence and total ignorance in that last post, when obviously telling everybody it was a ruse.

B/c the last game I tried to leave the GW franchise for … eventually gave me an ulcer.
If someone has a better reason than that, I’d love to hear it…

Simply put, nothing better to play at the moment. It’s been a terrible year for MMOs, only FFXIV rattling the cage a bit, but at the moment that’s unobtainable until they sort their stuff and open sales again.

GW2 has had a “free ride” for almost a full year with nobody harassing their march. TESO, Wildstar and ArcheAge all got pushed back to 2014. We’ll see what happens when those three start to get closer to launch…

Most MMOs suck badly. Those “harder” MMOs unquote, don’t fit my play style at all. This game does.

MMOs are really the same kitten on a different platter. WoW, TERA, Allods, FF14 – I realized that they’re all the same rehashed garbage that developers have been spewing out since Everquest. GW2 is free at least, even if it’s still a part of that pile.

Frankly, I’d probably stay away from MMOs in general after GW2.

Loyalty to the GW franchise, I guess. I really like the art style of this game as well, whenever I look at a different game, I just think it looks really bad comparatively.

That was a pretty good Troll post, I could even believe you were being paid to make these, it was that good. (and companies do, do that)

If yer not, maybe link it to a few of Anet’s competitors and ask them for a job.

I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.

Not his first. Not even sure it’s his best. But after the third one of the same old same old, I’m thinking he’s run out of material. They all say approximately the same thing worded differently.

I was more impressed with the first one.

I love how you can load up GW2 and just go.

You want to PvP elsewhere, you sit in a queue.
You want to do a dungeon elsewhere, you sit in a queue.
You want to do a world boss, you have to gather people.

Here you just login and go...

Why most of my friends left 2weeks – 1 month later:
No so called “End game content”; they left becouse when they have reached level 80 and tried Story mode dungeons and realized that there where only fluff rewards for doing dungeons and meta event’s. They didn’t feel the need to do any content becouse they powerleveled, farmed gold and bought Exotics and they fealt compleate.
WoW-ish players will be WoW players I guess.

Why few others of my friends left:
They just got bored of the game, just like any other game they have played.

Why I and the rest of my friends havent left:
- The lore of the world is amazing.
- We enjoy the so active combat mechanics and I am so tired of the stale and some old Trinity.
- Guild Wars 2 can be enjoyed in so many ways, there isn’t just one way to play it, it isn’t only about leveling and aquiring the best gear and brag about it.
- There is almost always something new everyday, you find a new event you never done, you find a little cave with no purpose that you have never seen but it is still interesting.
- Whatever others say, in my opinion there is not (at the moment) any reason to farm or giving me the “I need to do this”-feeling, I just play the game and it comes to me in time unlike other games where I have to farm a dungeon over and over again to get the good gear to be able to even join other groups in other dungeons.
- Living Story; it is wonderfull and I love most of it, I am always eager to see what comes next ‘Game Releases’ button is the most pressed button in GW2-site after ‘Forums’ button
Only one LS has disupointed me but with the promise to make more permanent content (And it has been showing) it will get even better ^^
- I like the idéa of making the existing world more interesting and keeping players in the zones that exist instead of making new ones. I hope A-net can make it even better so all zones gets crouded and not only Zerg Wars in one Zone at a time, but it is a good start.
- Ofcourse the constant 2 weeks update is just as I said in the Living Story part, it’s not only interesting to see what happens next in the world but also reading the Update notes on my break is the best thing for me on Teusedays

Ohhh there is so many more reasons I just can’t stop playing GW2.

Scarlet Invasions. Leveling toons. Discovering new areas. Finding something I’ve never seen before. The new pit arena in Divinity Reach. The living story 70% of the time. Dailies and Monthlies. Doing the hearts and chevrons and vistas. A jumping puzzle once in a while. WvW a bit.

But I hate 5 man pug dungeons and fractals and PvP.

LOL

Well. let’s not call him a troll yet. :-)

Okay, maybe he is … lol … but he’s obviously just an amateur troll, and can be redeemed. Because master Trolls have a far different style, and are irredeemable. So, let’s wait and see if he begins to post in dozens and dozens of different threads (master trolls never shut up), speaking with the voice of authority of someone with “inside information” as to what the devs intended or think. Add a sprinkle of the finger-wagging schoolmarm reminding folks about the rules, and a dash of the quick reach for the report option … and then, then you’ll have a real troll on your hands!

Colin Johanson to Eurogamer: "Everyone, including casual gamers,
by level 80 should have the best statistical loot in the game.
We want everyone on an equal power base.”
