What do you need to keep playing GW2
New classes are probably never going to happen. If they do happen it’s going to be waaaay in the future. New classes wouldn’t do much for me personally anyway.
The skill system I get what you’re saying more, but then I played games were I used the same 5-10 skills anyway. It wasn’t that they were tied to weapons they were simply the most effective. It’s not like a game with 50 skills saw me using more than ten of them in most cases.
In Guild Wars 2 I get around that by switching up my builds sometimes, or using different weapons, which does change the game for me.
The elite specializatoins that game with HOT added some variety, but this is never going to be a game about more skills. There’ll be some more, but if you only play THE most effective build, you’re going to be limited in weapon sets and you might get bored. Nature of the beast really.
That’s why I focus on different alts of different classes at different times.
I need more stories and more zones, over more classes and more skills. I don’t really care much about raids or PvP, but I do care about story and lore and exploration.
So I guess my want list would be different from yours. Perhaps different from most peoples.
If part of your problem is can’t get passed the boredom of not feeling like my character is different from anyone else playing the same class as me then how is adding more classes going to help? They’ll still be playing the same as you if they’re playing that class.
As too the combat being boring because it’s always the same skills, maybe level up one of each class and switch between them. It’s a lot less boring if you’re playing Mesmer one day, ranger the next day and engineer the third.
ANet may give it to you.
I was going to say something similar to what Just a a flesh wound said but saw he beat me to it. How can you be bored of the classes if you have not even reached cap lvl yet? O.O
I just find this statement strange and confusing. I have all classes to 80 and they all got there by doing their world completes which by the way you hit 80 about halfway through that within 2 weeks if you do just 1 map a day. Doing the maps gives you enough variety and new things to see/do so you really are not even bothering to worry about repetitive combat styles. Are you even levelling up this way or by doing events or are you simply trying to lvl up how other games do it (sit in 1 spot killing the same mobs over and over and over). Sorry but that just had to be asked….
Having said all that, even before you DO hit 80 there is tons of variety to each class. Each have multiple weapons (which in most classes you can switch in and out during combat for advantages and more mixing up!) they can use and builds through trait lines that you can mix up now and then. Personally on all of my alts I have ALL weapons that, that class can use stored in their inv in a special bag which will not let them sell them etc just so I can play around with all their options to mix it up and to see any effects any game updates have done to those skills. You could try doing this as well and trying all of their weps as well as build options.
One thing I can tell you is that I have pretty much stayed away from meta builds since day one and have pretty much noticed that I have about 99% of the time played my classes different to most other people. I can see it through what weps and skills they are using as well the differences in who stays alive longer or kills quicker etc. One last tip – STAY AWAY from those meta sites and then you wont have that issue of playing your char/class the same as most other people lol.

I am happy with the one class I am playing. And the way I play it.
Starting LoL in 2010, the game was fun, even with those like 15 heroes to pick. Then the meta started and all builds and lanes were so static that you get flamed for not following the (unwritten) meta.
In GW2 I promised that I will never look up any sort of meta or “What do other say” nonsense. The reason why I still enjoy the game despite being slow: I just play every 2nd or 3rd day. It’s like a cigar. Smoke it, but slowly. Enjoy it. But who smokes two good cigars in a row? Second reason is that both my race of condescending, long-eared midgets and the class I play as combine to an ideal character I feel very good playing as.
Playing a generic human or one of the millions of Charr and only FoTM nonsense would hate me playing the game.
My Asura Engineer however is pretty unique and the gameplay is very diversified. I love him.^^
Oh, and coming from Final Fantasy XIV:
Black mage: 5, 2, 2, 2, 9, 3, 1, 1, 1, 3 repeat
Bard: (doing stuff until your TP – some sort of mana – runs out)
Scholar: 4, 5, 3, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1…
In Guildwars I switch between the weapons like crazy to keep up all the effects. It’s a goal for me to have all my foes burning, bleeding and poisoned all the time, in between throwing and aiming grenades and the Kim Jong-Un rocket (rocket tower’s tool belt skill). Like this circus game with the spinning plates, there is always something to do. Of course I could just use the flamethrower all day long, but then I’d end up in your state.
and politically highly incorrect. (#Asuracist)

I was running a dungeon last night with a guildie and he said something that has been mentioned here. He said “I love running this as I get to use four weapons”.
And I think it is very easy to just run round as the meta pressing 1 but not as much fun.
Knowing when you should kite and when you can pull out the old hammer, knowing how useful a well placed of wall of reflect is, popping all the minions when they’ll do the most good.. that is what makes any toon fun for me.
pve, raid, pvp, fractal, dungeon, world clearing, legendary questing.. Zapped!
If you bought the game at launch, yet have not a single max lvl char that hardy qualifies as “playing” the game. My thought is that you should not be playing MMO’s in the first place if you cant get to max lvl in the most casual one out there.
If you are looking for a new Profession (class), the Revenant was introduced about 5 months ago. Could be the answer you seek.
Good luck.
