Guild Wars 2

Let’s face it, GW2 isn’t exactly balanced. With that having been said, just wondering what the census is regarding what you all think the best professions are for each category of gameplay. For example, my opinion:

(Full Disclosure:
I main a thief and a guardian, and I dabble in all the rest equally. I’m slightly biased towards certain things, ie: Engi’s crush me, and I crush Necro’s in wvw. I’ll try to look at it without bias however. )

PVE:
1) Warrior
2) Ele
3) Guardian
4) Thief/ Necro /Mesmer /Engi
5) Ranger

WVW:
1) Ele / Mesmer
2) Guardian/ Warrior
3) Engi
4) Thief / Ranger / Necro

PVP:
Actually , I’m not gonna touch this, I don’t play it enough and my opinion would be invalid.

Part of the beauty in this game is that all of the professions can be tailored to different play styles and thus can be utilized in different ways. It’s also situational. In certain areas (dungeons, fotm) it wouldn’t be as efficient without a mix of professions: 5 guards might never die but might take too long, etc…

So I think that all of the professions are pretty darn good (as long as the person clicking the mouse knows what theyre doing of course!)

Mid Tier: Engineer, Guardian, Warrior
Low Tier: Ranger, Necro
Note that despite being in low tier, a good Ranger/Necromancer can still be effective, but they are much less ideal for doing so.

I main ele because it was my first character. Honestly I probably would main it anyway because looking at all the professions, ele is my favorite kind. Will prob. main Revenant for a while. Also I haven’t tried Theif or Guardian yet.

PvE :
1) Ele master race (really)
2-3)Warrior/Guardian
4-5)Mesmer/Thief
6)Engineer
7)Ranger
8)Necro (kek)

It depends a lot of what you’re doing…(ex : If doing CM then Thief switches immediately to rank 1 or 2)

Just to clarify, I wasn’t looking for the “good players can make any profession work” answer. I was looking for opinions on class ranking assuming the profession is being played at the same skill level with optimal builds for the situation.

No cop out answers please.

PvE: conjure ele
WvW: staff ele
PvP: probably not the best, but a good ele is definitely in top 3 classes I don’t want to go against.
