What do you want in the Gem Shop?
No.
Content should never be hidden behind toll gates and I’m very glad that Anet does not do this.
I would like more cosmetic armor and weapons and cool little things like the box o’ fun.

Expansions are content that is paid for. Anet will have them for GW2. So those are “toll gates” to you I guess.

Just effing costumes that oversuit armour, is it so hard? people are so sparse now anyway.
I want to look like Chuckie from Home Alone (I know, Chuckie was in the Crow) , Pennywise from IT. Christ other games like Borderlands 2 manage to squeeze so many film quotes in, I’m sure one Hollywood company will let you make Jason or Pumkinhead skins for your customers for a few $.
Town costumes are the personification of waste of cash……who-ever dreamed them up needs to play GW1 once!

I have seen them say there will be free updates but I have not seen them say they will not be having paid expansions. I would like to see their quote on that if it is the case. It would seem odd since they did have xpacs for GW1.

lunarminx – you can dodge 1.0005% faster in own gear (but c’mon, you know you want it), and also your inventory space increases by a massive 0 slot. This is Anet value, we only charge 50$ (bendable) for this minor luxory!
Update, Anet are thinking of increasing 0 slot to x2 0 slots (phew, glad I got that in 0.4 is coming out soon)

I don’t think I like the idea that I might have to pay for new stuff like that. I mean with the expansions I got new areas, races, and content all for one price. What if they break it all down in the GS. Plus is this how we are going to have to buy the next story installment….?
Instant levelup-scrolls
Premade Level 80s
I would like to play different classes in WvW but i can’t be bothered to level another char. Leveling is just boring. Hell even cof-farmruns are more fun then leveling. Playing as an upleveled char in WvW isn’t fun either and i will be a liability to my server.

What if they do break it all down but getting it all would be equal to the price of a normal expansion? However, it would have the added luxury of letting players pick and choose what they want. If they didn’t want “panda’s” as a new race, they would not have to buy it, yet could still pay for the new zones.
Decorative items, in world trophies
Adding customizable housing and guild halls would add tons of new items to the game, and tons of new things to play for. Which in turn would add a more sparkling version of these new items in the gem shop!
(edited by lisamee.2408)
I am not a big user of the gem shop mainly because I do not find much in there worth buying. Some things that would get me to spend some cash are:
- New leveling zones
- New Races
- New Story ArcsThese are three things I would be glad to pay for and are something that could be implemented without forcing others to purchase them. What things would you like to see in the shop?
Terrible idea ! So you want to split up the community, the buyers have it all and the not buyers miss out on storys, new races etc etc…thats like a BAD f2p model of a game.
I’d love to see more armorskins in the shop, along with weaponskins. More town-clothing would be welcome too.
More dances are always welcome along with maybe more different emotions.
Maybe player-housing too, or items to customize it.
I wouldn’t mind paying for an expansion, but I don’t think you should have to pay for a single new map, or a single new race or story. That would just throw the community off balance :/
The mysteries dissapear and life stands explained.”
What I would like to see.
Costumes like Guild Wars 1 had them. Wearable over your armor, in combat and stored by an NPC.
Dances, specifically the ones from Guild Wars 1. My necro wants The Thriller dance. :-)
More armor skins. For the female characters, the armor for most classes runs the gamut from A to B. An endless series of long skirts and butcapes, leavened by the occasional stripper outfit.
Skins (both armor & weapon), emotes. That’s all what i need.
Armour and weapon skins, particularly those from GW1. Astral’s idea of dances would be great too. I’d definitely shell out some cash for the Monk, Necro and Assassin dances.
You have had skins available via the gems store..
why do folks keep asking for something they put up
Because we want more of them. The current available skins are great (well, for heavy and medium… old Profane was so much cooler) but it’s hardly the sheer volume or vatiety players are after.
Normal looking town clothes. Especially for Sylvari. More armor skins. Especially more pants for female characters (already got tons of skirts and dresses).
race changes, gender changes, class changes…make em expensive if need be esp class change, but race/gender should be on par with makeover kits…
…also more skinned stuffed baby sentiant creatures to wear on my back!
1. Dancing animations.
2. Alternate walking, sitting, running, jumping animations.
3. Animated emote & pose packages
4. Skins, skins, skins
5. Ability to rename characters
6. Alternate PVE battle animations with ability to customize effects
7. Musical instruments & music you can play
8. Characterized voice packages
I am reasonably OK with the concept of paid expansions, after all there is no subscription here and new software costs money to develop. And………if this was WoW or Rift etc you would not only pay for the expansion but also pay a subscription too.
Of course I am also assuming the cost is reasonable for what is offered etc, but that is a matter for individual people to assess and free market choice.
In business none of us could afford to give away free (insert goods or services) for ever
Paid expansions will be added at some point. They just won’t be standalone like the GW1 campaigns. And they won’t be confined to the gem store, they’ll appear on shelves in the few economically viable game stores left too.
What id like to see and what id buy are two different things but i’ll list them all
1) Name change contract- its coming but not fast enough! For too long have I put up with my guildies calling me ‘Theron-ux’ due to the fact my main started life as a mule so I named her Thereonx, my other alt Thereonxx etc. Plus I want a second name!
2) New armour and weapon skins. Not sure why these arent in already as theyd make ANET a hell of a lot of money. Just look at the popularity of the Quaggan backpack!
3) New town clothes but with a reason to own them! More mini games in the world that you can only do in town clothes.
4) WvW finishers!
5) Hairstyles.
6) More ‘GW2 style mounts’.
7) Polymock characters! Ive read a little about what Polymock is and its definitely something id be interested in so having a wide variety of characters (or are they called pieces?) to choose from would be great. Youd get people wanting to ‘collect them all’ like the minis and people like me buying specific ones to go with my style. However there should still be rare ones only available through the game.
Thats all I can think of. Of course id like expansion content but I think ANET would be silly releasing expansion content via gems as those with gold hoarded would get it for free. Just release it for a fixed price and the same amount of people would buy it. The only upside I can see to selling for gems would be the relatively short term gain of gems being more sort after and therefore their gold price increasing, causing more people to buy gems for gold. But personally I see this as a short term thing.
Retired and living in a shack. Relaxing!
(edited by Thereon.3495)
Housing! Seriously. I want a house. I want to hang trophies of things I’ve killed and plaques of achievements. Patterns for my tailor to make throw rugs and my huntsman to make….stuff. My cook to make food stuff! Roast longhorn on a platter in the middle of the dining room table.
Fishing! I’ll pay gems for better fishing poles, bait. Obviously fishing has to be in the game first.
Account wide dye. I’d pay gems to make any dyes I learn account wide for present and future characters.
Gathering boost. Unless it’s there and I’ve missed it, I’d buy gathering boosts that increase my gathers by 2x or more. But every time, not just a .01% chance.
A WP something that eliminates WP costs for 24 hours or something.
I buy karma boosts. I’ve bought a few crafting boosts and some BL chest keys before.
Mostly though, I buy gems to convert to gold. Yes, I do.
Whoever runs the content they add to the gem store is doing a terrible job at it seriously barely any cosmetics added to gem store since launch i would have 3-4 dedicated people to making gem store items so you can actually keep people interested in the gem store.
-goofy weapon skins and armor like lollipops, vuvuzela(BZZZZZ), a carrot, a game controller focus, leather jacket(never goes out of style maybe even a greaser outfit), etc
-dancing animations to make my character feel more like my character maybe i want my char to do the charelston, or my sylvari to do the stanky leg
-More Cosmetic mounts(would be cool if they got their own skill bar like 1 attack 2 charge 3 speed boost 4 stability 5 get off but i can understand not having this)
-Town Clothes
-Mini Game stations(hide n seek(this could be zone based designating a seeker and having players hide as objects in the zone), barfights, keg brawl, races, hot potato, tag, etc) so players can have mini game fun all around the guild wars 2 world
-Hairstyles
-Guild Hall Cosmetics(when they comes)
-Cosmetic fishing boats(if fishing ever enters the game)but ya it would be cool to go out on the waters of tyria with friends on a big boat and fish seriously sad no mmo has done deep sea fishing were you a possibility to run into a huge sea monster boss or something along the lines of a possible world boss encounter.
-A less random selection of pets as they are supposed to be cosmetic not something i take from you and sell to other players when i get 3 i have no interest in i get it collect them all but it isn’t fun randomly collecting(with gems or gold) them or buying them directly from the TP.
-Player Housing Cosmetics(when it comes) things like paintings, wall types, size increases, carpets, rugs, trinkets, fireplaces, scenery, etc
-Emotes(shakes fist, mocks, looks around suspiciously, etc)
-Permanent Golem Banker
-Permanent Merchant
-Black Lion Chest Converter(make chest soulbound first of all and after that is changed it converts 10 of them into a key)10 of course being a placeholder
-Mystic Toilet Recipe book(a book that saves the mystic toilet recipes you have found)useless to some as the recipes are on websites every were but useful to others as they would like to have them all in a nice place in game
-Mystic Toiler Chance coin and/or weapon(takes the place of a mat must replace the exact number needed but it will increase your chance to get the item you are trying to get can only use 1 slot in the mystic toilet)just a suggestion don’t really want this or see a need for it
-Asura Portal to portal your friends to your location in pve
-Pet mind controller= take control of your mini pets and fight your friends
could probably add more as I only spent about 5 minutes on this list but I’m sure they will be covered by other posters or anet themselves have most of these suggestions well i hope they do at least.
Honestly, the current options in the Gem Shop suck. There’s not a lot of variety and not what I expected from the Gem Shop. I was expecting more Skins!!
What I want :
- More Guild Wars 1 Skins (like this : http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ranger_armor)
- Town Clothes (Wedding Dresses, Tuxedos, Ball Gowns, Farmer Outfits, Village Outfits, Noble Outfits, Lingerie ^^, etc)
- Particle Effects for Weapons (I’d buy the sh** out of those)
- Unlock more Emotes (/rude, /joke, etc)
- More Backpack Variety (Quivers, Tomes, etc)
- Unlock Hairstyles & Colors
- Name Change
- Guild Name Change
But yeah, as I said, I’m disappointed at the lack of skins in the Gem Shop.
More armor skins is what I expected when the game first released, and still wonder why more hasn’t been added.
Would also be nice to see some Gem store exclusive tonics.

What I get from that is that in addition to free updates in the game we will have payed Expansions over a longer time frame- there is no mention whatsoever of Expansions being in the gem shop but rather it points- to me at least- to be boxed sales.
OT I would love:
more hair
weapon and armour skins
town clothes
Anyone notice how the OP is the only person who claims to want game content locked up in the cash shop?
Guess what, its not sitting well. No. Tell your boss that.
More armor/weapon skins (want a rapier!) …different than what avail in game might be nice. Other than that , all I ever get from the gem shop is transmute stones.
But in no way do I ever want to see payable content come into being.

An “expansion” is different to a “stand alone expansion”.
GW1 had “stand alone expansions” where you didn’t have to own the original game to play the content of the expansions.
GW2 will not have that model and will require you to own the core game to play any expansion content.
skins, skins, skins , precursers , emotes.
the quaggan backpack and makeover kit are the best items they have done imo
[FIRE] Serene Snow, Warrior
Main thing I want is more armor skins. (stuff that isn’t trench-coats). Actually if they took the Assassin armor as well as other armor straight from GW1 and made some GW2 skins based on it~ would be awesome gem store skins. They already have the concept and already did it with the current gemstore skins, why not take it further.
Game Content in gem store would be bad idea, but an overall expansion~ now I’m curious. You can buy the Digital Deluxe version with gems, I wonder if we’re going to be able to buy entire expansions with gems? Wouldn’t be much difference than ordering it digitally from site, except you could use gold to fund it. O_o
~We also need a JC Pennys in GW2 that sells ton’s of town clothes that NPCs already wear; gems or gold, either one idc.

I doubt they’d ever do it. Too many people would trade gold for gems instead of paying $$ for the expansion (in part or full), limiting the profit the expansion would make.
Digital Deluxe upgrade is a different story because they already have your $$ and it’s just a few in-game items your buying.

I’m not so sure about that-
I think the average player does not necessarily have enough gold to do that and would like their gold to be used for things in game- especially if a new expansion comes out you would need funds-
same goes for gems really- people might hang on to the gems they have, to see what new things are available / or to keep for holidays.
Sure some people would do it but I don’t think it would be enough to matter.
Also it would be a very very good PR move to do that in addition to box sales and may even draw people to the game.
I am very interested to see what they do.

This would be cool, but it would pretty much be a rip of LOTRO’s system if it was the way I wanted.

Yea, sure, they already sell gold, just put the last thing they don’t sell.
Out of sarcasm, emotes are a better idea. They don’t bother anyone and I’m sure that a lot of people will be happy to buy some new dances/animations.
