As topic says, What does end game mean for you? and is it present in GW2 today as we know it? please make clear if it’s present or not.

For me end game is not WoW alike grinds and Job alike 8 hour raids. End game for me must constantly keep me engaged, be it a dungeon run or a raid, or a world event or pvp. I do however want to be rewarded for every activity, it is important and those reward have to be of notable importance. Those activities should be some what challenging, not impossible but hard enough to give the feeling that i have earned the reward.

As it is, the end game is non existent, lots of good content with no notable reward.

in WoW at max lvl i pvped and raided. In GW2 at max lvl i pvp (WvW) /shrug. There’s really no progression in GW2 after max level besides getting progressively more skilled at pvp, which is cool i guess.

Biggest difference for me is I used to get really exicted about drops or the potential for item drops in WoW. In GW2, its kinda like—open chest-salvagesalvagesalvage-continue to use WPs and repair armor.

Living Story content is fine.

However, it’s not fine if ArenaNet believes that the Living Story content they give out can replace the worth of an expansion pack.

So far, ArenaNet have not made any stance for expansion packs, and the time is ticking. If they continue giving out similar content like they do now with their Living Story, it looks rather grim. The content gets rather uninteresting and stale, and they are always very similar.

As said, Living Story content is fine, but it can’t replace an expansion pack.

Scrambles, that’s the feeling i get too, the drops in GW2 are just meaningless just i just TP it or sell it. Same with rewards from quests, events and etc. I want to actually feel and want the reward.

GW2 PvP is good, the best out of mmos. however i don’t feel rewarded enough for pvp, i want bigger bounty and i think they need to encourage teaming up, not just for the ex paid tourneys. Actually ex paid would work, but not many people want to team up for it.

Personally, I don’t care about endgame, I care about the game as a whole. I don’t need shinyepicultimatethiswillkilleverything stuff as a reward, but a little thing that’s looking good and worth the pain and challenge(if there’s any) is fine. For example GW1 missions. You didn’t get much reward for them, but doing them was fun, they were decent both in duration and in difficulty. I replayed the campaings several times. Unfortunately, in GW2, I’m not interested in many things. These minigames are not my cup of tea, the PVE has not much to offer, since I did everything I wanted. I love WvW if we’re not zerging, or we’re not zerged, but on WSR I’m having a hard time completing the achis for the season. So that takes away from the fun. To change servers I’d have to do dungeons and I’m bored of them since they don’t offer much challenge since everybody is stacking and all kind of bs. So, my endgame will be dungeon running if I force myself to it and WvW.

Farzo, i would say living story is nothing. I didn’t do a single even and i don’t think i missed any thing, bounty of them is bad. The quests/actives for them are fairly bad too, specially when they stick in those ugly ridiculous outdated graphics, the sponge bob like monsters and other crap, really want me turn around and run away. I want a god kitten sexy dragon with sexy loot, not a pac-man mini game for Christ’s sake.

Having played mainly single-player games before this I don’t really get the concept of end-game.

To me everything is the game. The end is when you’ve done everything and have nothing left to do. If there’s still stuff to do in the game, whether that’s new content or infinitely repeatable content, then it’s not the end.

For me, if I want progression raids accompanied by increasing gear stats then I would return to WoW where I have a full stable of max level toons and a huge infrastructure that is designed around that concept. No need to switch games to do the same thing.

My end game is merely doing things I enjoy on my max level characters. Sometimes dungeons, sometimes LS, sometimes just open world events, or gathering and crafting…just whatever appeals to me at the time. The addition of an instanced 10-25 player experience (i.e., raid) would not matter to me at all…unless it becomes a part of a steady content/gear progression. At that point, it is merely WoW with a different set of graphics.

Danikat, i disagree. what you say we need “game over” screen once we hit level 80. that’s not end game, that’s The end. End game is when your character is at full personal fruition and you have good, fun and rewarding content to do.

Elothar, GW2 will never be like WoW, WoW is totaly different, with bad, pvp, with bad world pvp, bad graphics, worse character customization, and endless quest grind. GW 2 is much better, and vertical gear progression if implement will not be stolen from WoW, every other game has it. Raids not only give you good loot, but also give sense of unity, a reason to belong to a guild. what you’ve said basically means you want a regular solo game, for that reason GTA will work better for you. I play mmos to have fun, progression, rights for brag and etc. not just sit in Lion’s Arch and wait till ant bites my rear and i’ll need to do some thing.

Something like Endgame does simply not exist. In the end its always a kind of repeating the same things over and over aka grind, only the form of the grind differs from game to game.

Personally i hate raiding and running instances so i never got the better stuff in all that games, and i’m happy that here i can play whatever i like and am still able to get nice things.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

I have nothing against raids per se…in fact, my most memorable moment of MMO playing was downing the Lich King. And yes, I know PVP is different, I know graphics are different…but vertical profession is vertical progression. You cannot get off the treadmill or you fall behind. The whole point of doing the raid is to get the “better gear” which will then allow you to get into the next set of raids that come, which will drop “even better gear.” Whether it is “WoW-style” or not…it is still vertical gear progression and you either keep on peddling or you fall off the treadmill.

If, however, they add that 10-25 man instance that drops some gear…and similar stat gear is available through other avenues then I have no real problem with it. It is when the raid becomes the “end all be all” of content and unless you play it, you are wasting your time in game. If they can get around that conundrum, then I don’t really care one way or the other.

And, yes, I do understand and have experienced that unity and sense of belonging that comes with raiding…it is cool for sure. But, at least for me, I get the same sense from my guild missions. I know that is not the same thing and that not everyone feels the same way as I do…this is just my take on the subject.

I didn’t say the game should end once you hit 80. I said I don’t understand the concept of end game because to me the end of a game only comes when you’ve run out of things to do and have to stop playing.

Whereas the way people talk about end game in MMOs it’s as if they’ve mentally split the game in two – one game ‘ends’ when you get to max level and then you’re supposed to start doing a bunch of new and completely different activities. But I don’t see it that way, levelling up is just one part of the game and nothing’s ended just because you’ve achieved that. That’s like saying the game ends when you get all your weapon skills unlocked, or when you finish the personal story or get to LA for the first time. You might have completed one part of the game but I don’t think you can point to any one of those and say “this is the end of the game, everything else after this is ‘end game’.”

Endgame for me has always been about completing the latest content then jumping into battlegrounds or arena until the next patch.

With the Living Story content every 2 weeks and WvW I have all the endgame I desire.

Very Happy gamer here

Gathering more awesome items for my 3 80s… Always something on the horizon, 2 of them are @ 300g. (My free time varies a lot since I study @ a university, which is for the best since I easily “burned out” on things to do the 2 months that I was unemployed)
Approach for now is to actually get past 30 in fractals since I found that it seems to be a nice challenge (hopefully that’s entirely true). Looking forwards towards the new fractals immensely!

sPvP once there is another game mode (that I enjoy…)
Maybe the new WvW map… Looks more compacted, which I like a lot!

Gw2 is a masterpiece at it’s foundation. Content-wise however…

Agree whole-heartedly. I listed some “end game content” in a thread here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/End-game-content/first#post3199901

….I haven’t run out of things to do yet…and not bored yet because of it.
