What dyes are your favorites?
I like the Enameled Dyes. Some of the new Bloodstone Dyes are nice. Green is my favorite color, so I’m fond of several Green Dyes.
I own no Electro Dyes, but have several (6 or 7, or so) Celebratory Dye packs in the bank. Just haven’t decided on any dyes, yet.
My favourite colours are blue and purple so I like a lot of those. Particularly Indigo, Orchid, Iris, Blacklight, Violet Ice, Midnight Ice, Starry Night, Sapphire, Afternoon, Breeze, Frost Breeze and Electro Blue.
But I try to pick a colour scheme for each character so I have some variety. For example my engineer wears green and brown and my necromancer wears dark red and gold.
If we’re talking about dye sets I’m not sure I have a favourite. I like some of the Enamelled dyes because they bring out the texture of the material, especially Solitude and Longevity, but I don’t use many of them.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I like the Enameled Dyes.
This! Enameled Emblaze is my #1 favorite dye in the game.

For me it’s probably celestial. I use it in ALOT of my oufits
I like high-contrast dyes, especially slightly desaturated ones that give off a kind of “dusty old curtains in a Victorian mansion” vibe. So I really like the dyes named after emotions: Pride, Wrath, Envy, Spite, Arrogance, Remembrance, Forgiveness, Sincerity, and Mischief. I also like the Tint dyes (Rose Tint, Blue Tint, Purple Tint, etc)
I think my absolute favourite, though, like if I had to start all over with just one dye, is Abyss. You can’t go wrong with a good solid black. Goes with everything.
My two most used are,
Lemon ice
Charred
I use different colors for every character, as well as different shades (some characters I use mostly dark colors, others bright, others a mix, ect). Heck, one of the first things I do as I create a new character is pick what will become their dye combination, and I specifically try not to double up on a specific color.
So its hard to really pick any one favorite, since I intentionally try not to use the same dyes.
That said, I do have a particular fondness for Enameled dyes as a general category, as well as any other dyes that share their properties. I dunno really what exactly to call it, but they show off little details really well and have a sort of “gradient” effect to them, which I absolutely love. It makes your armor look much more dynamic and interesting, IMO. Out of 8 characters, I believe 6 of them use at least one Enameled dye or another dye which has similar properties.
Baah I have so many favourites. Can’t choose just one or two. Or five. Or ten even. I love to mix and match colours for my character’s armor and I’d love to be able to save different colour schemes.
Here are some of my faves:
Celestial
Crushed Bone
Blood
Oxblood
Antique Gold
Gold
Silver
Cobalt
Carnage Orange
Hot Pink
Electro Pink
Electro Blue
Maroon
Regal
Enameled Longevity
Starry Night
Evening Wine
Shadow Abyss
Shadow Magenta
Shadow Turquoise

I am rather fond of Shadow Orange. A nice bit of color without being over the top.
All those blue dyes that seem to give… extra texture to stuff or something. Shiver Sky is the prime example. I don’t really know what’s going on with them, but they really change the way stuff looks.
Although my main is using Charcoal and Black Cherry.
I like all the dyes that add texture and highlight detail. They show up the old at-launch flat dyes something fierce. But I have to say the most versatile one I’ve found is Glint’s Isolation. It offers white tones with hints of cream to make them warmer, applies well across all cloth/leather/metal surfaces (barring those that include color shifts towards a certain tone no matter what you layer on them), and works really well either as a base coat or as trim.
My #1 is Matriarch Brass
Other ones I see myself always going back to are.
Tarnished silver
Abyss
Celestial
Electro purple goes well with mawdrey
Electro Blue is the closest thing that I can find to match the holographic dragon wings.
And yeah I usually try to match the weapon skins or backpieces.
Depends on the material but Pyre works well on a variety of things.
Celestial White
Phthalo Blue
Rosewood
Shadow Abyss
Shadow Blue
Shadow Violet
Shadow Magenta
Shadow Red
Illumination
Just some I really enjoy.
Shadow Abyss
Blacklight
Bloodstone Coral
Redemption
Midnight Ice
Electro lemon
Electro Blue
Molten
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
So many great dyes in this game. I love the ones that look closest to what you might consider a primary or secondary color. I have my main asura mesmer “cosplayed” to look like the SAB ninja guy, so he’s using strictly primary colors— Crimson Lion for red, Sapphire for blue and Electro Lemon for yellow. The colors are really vibrant and work well together especially for that cosplay attempt.
There are a ton of other dyes I use on alts, of course, but they’ve all been listed here already. I would like to specifically call out Celestial again though, because I use that dye on a lot of alts.
I would love Shadow Abyss and Crushed Bone but they’re quite expensive at the moment.
Charred, followed by some of the enameled dyes. If I had to pick, Charred would be it. It does wonders with textures, where other dyes leave those looking flat and liveless. See attached screenshot for example of full-Charred medium armor.
About color matching, I focus on two key points : color coordination & color contrast.
I will use these two key points on hair color/skin color/weapon color/class style.
So I have lots Favorite color too, and I love use them to realize my dream.
Please take a look my another 2 screenshots, this is about color contrast with hair color & skin color.
The dye used :
Celestial
Hot pink
Blacklight
Imperial Gold
Charred. No other dye provides such texture to the material. Had my eye on it for a while and then the birthday dyes happened. Much delight was had.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
Midnight Teal and Midnight Ice. My favorite color is green but i wear a lot of black, so these two work best for me, the Midnight Ice with the hint of blue and even sometimes teal, and the dark teal. They work great together. All my characters are stuck with these two colors.
(I’m female so I usually play female characters when I play with my friend. Solo however, it’s all eye candy guy characters. )
Iron.
Some characters got Tea Jeans dyed items at some point and then I just couldn’t like anything else for them.
Iron, black, tarnished steel, and the charred dye group as well as swamp green are typical. In some cases, various earth tones as well. Nothing too flashy.
White Gold
Shadow Purple
Enameled Reign
My Ranger / Druid
The dye used :
Imperial Red
Imperial Gold
Celestial
Phthalo Blue
Evening Grass
Pumpkin (boots)
Silver (Dagger)
I would love Shadow Abyss and Crushed Bone but they’re quite expensive at the moment.
I got both from my 4th bday gift ;-)
Crushed bone is really nice.
Golden Lion is my favorite Dye, followed by Shadow Abyss, Crushed Bone and Shadow Orange.
Others I commonly use on altz/costumes are:
Enameled Emblazed/Crimson/Legacy/Sky
Amenity
Electro Blue
Deep Glacial Sky
Charred/deep glacial sky/blacklight/rose wood.
