Guild Wars 2

I remember a few weeks ago seeing a post on the wiki under the Upcoming changes and features topic that said sometime in the future Guild halls will be implemented to the game. Today I looked at the same topic and Guild halls are not mentioned at all, neither are they mentioned in Colin Johanson news post.

I really want to know if Guild Halls and personal housing are still planned for the future of Guild Wars 2 or if you have decided against it.

BTW- In my opinion Guild Halls, GvG, scrimmages, and duels are more important to the normal player base than WvW.

I am very surprised guild halls and player housing are not on the top of the list. Because just think of all the profit Anet could make selling decorations in the store

Imo they would have mentioned these things if they ll be made (guild housing) with screenshots and lots of PR. Its a big thing and that they don’t mention it probably is more significant.

If you read carefully "Allowing players to share experiences in an open world where other players are seen as helpful, rather than competition, is a huge component of what makes our game what it is. "

Ofc this is all kinda vague and could mean many things, but I won’t put my bet on open world GvG and since they probably won’t bring Guild Halls anytime soon, I don’t think instance based GvG will happen anytime soon either.

I am all for the fact that players are allies and not competition in the game world, but Guild Halls should be implemented and soon.
- If ANet wanted all the players to work together all the time, they would have put us all together in one single Guild and said there you go, the world is your Guild Hall.

What I mean is that Guilds needs a personal touch, and the Guild Hall is a huge contribution to it. Instead of the Guild being scattered, or interrupted if they find a place to gather in the world, they need a place to call their own.

I would not assume that GW2 would be a copy of GW1, but I expect it to take some of the aspects of the first game, since it is a sequel.
- The Guild Hall is one such thing.

I miss guild halls. We would always group up, stock up and move out from the GH for whatever we did as a guild in GW1. Guild Halls may be one of the items that is giving them more trouble then they expected?(one can hope) Collin did say that Guilds are extremely important to the game and since so many people express that they want Guild Halls I don’t see them ignoring it much longer especially since it can be monetised so easily!

Honestly I am soooooo tired of talking about this feature. Seems as though every game released these days omits these features while at the same time there is an overwhelming demand for it. Seems like every game I play, player/guild housing is one of the most requested features that players are begging for which translates to long term player retention.

Yet game after game is released missing this feature while nearly all say they would like to implement it eventually but it isn’t a development priority atm. The problem is that there are a TON of true sandbox games coming and I have a feeling that by the time this is implemented, one of these games which has included it from the get go and developed for it from the ground up will take players away from GW2 so they can finally experience this feature.

I doubt player/guild housing will be included in free content so I suspect if anything it will be part of their first paid expansion which isn’t even on the radar atm so it is likely to come too late for most.

I hate being negative on these boards as we have enough of this already but this one topic is a rather sore spot for me since I have been looking for player housing in my MMO since DaOC. and every MMO I end up committing to it never happens (except Rift but that also came too late).

Yeah, guild halls would be great and if you can decorate them with furniture, it would be awsome !

This could go hand in hand with the new currency, as you could gather tokens for furniture !

And/Or you could:

—craft furniture and decorations
—get furnature and decorations from a rare drop in world
—buy special extra shinny furniture and decorations in the gem shop

The token system may or may not be something i like to do. It depends on what we will be doing in order to get the token. I hope its not restricting us to a certain way to play the game.
