Events were suppose to scale for both big and small groups. They were suppose to be able to be done by 100 ppl or 10 ppl and be challenging both ways. Will we ever see this in the game? Something that was suppose to be in by day 1 is no where to be found. The Knights in this LS need 40+ people each and wont scale any lower! Teq needs minimum 80 IF you melee, if not you need 100+. Even Marionette was 100 minimum. I would love to see down scaling implemented like it was meant to be since day 1 of gw2. If you feel the same way leave a post.

Well, I did the Wurm in Caledon Forest and it has been downscaled extremly. It was done in about 6-7 minutes with no more then 15 players. I can remember it was solo’able, then it got buffed and then it was harder then it’s now.

So I noticed some small changes. Same with certain champions. I can solo most Champions with my Mesmer but if players come towards me the champ deals much more damage and is taking less damage within a few seconds. Same when they leave, if they leave for a radius of around 3000-5000 the champion will lose defensive and offensive power.

The new Teq and Wurm were just create to NOT scale down because of the players that constantly wanted Raids.

Now go for example to the Maw Shaman and you will see an event that scales very well and can also be much fun doing it with 3-4 people.

I just read about people that did the Shatterer with just 6 players.

The Golem should also be easier with less people than with more i’ve heared.

So it works on most old stuff, even if the scaling is not always optimal, but they seem to move away from that at the moment for new stuff to make the Raiders happy. I only hope they abandon the ideas to revamp all the old bosses that way.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

90 plus percent of events in this game downscale. No one ever said every event in the game would be soloable.

In fact, in a FAQ on Guild Wars 2 before launch, the question was asked, is Guild Wars 2 soloable. The answer was that you could reach max level without ever joining a group, however, Anet believes that there are some challenges for which the community needs to come together.

At least this portion of their philosophy hasn’t changed since launch.

It works on some fights, but on others it just feels broken.

The biggest issue is now which server you play on. Some servers have enough people to do living story and other events and others do not.

Its time to fix/adjust scaling (every fight in the game should be doable with groups of 30+ organized players, imo) or merge servers (or, even better, implement something like the shard system from GW1), simple as that.

All the content that GW2 released with was designed for solo/small group play. This was scaled up if more people were around.

The game design has changed to be all about huge zergs and groups of 50+ players which can not be scaled down properly.

The original design philosophy collided with the new one, creating a singularity of inconsistencies we see as actual gameplay.

The Knights in this LS need 40+ people each and wont scale any lower!

The knights can be done with as little as 10-20 players each. The less players you bring however, the more berserkers you need.

Even Marionette was 100 minimum.

I did the Marionette enough times to see a lot of different things. How many enemies, their type and level all scaled, including the champions. From personal experience, it only took 5 players to successfully defend a lane and 3 people per platform to kill the champions (#2-4 could be solo’d). The minimum requirement was actually 15-15-15-5-5 (70), but everyone had to be decent (or 10-5-5-5-5 if everyone was pro).

Well, I did the Wurm in Caledon Forest and it has been downscaled extremly. It was done in about 6-7 minutes with no more then 15 players.

I’ve been doing the wurm solo lately for the metrica daily. It takes about 4-5 minutes to kill. Two additionally people showed up once and it only took 2 minutes. Much faster compared to having 50+ AFK auto attackers.

Nah. The suits looked at the numbers and seeing that statistically a zerg is bigger than a dungeon group concluded that creating content for massive zergs will mean more people will be playing the game (and buying gems).

All future content will be designed around a map full of players. I wouldn’t even be surprised if future battles will require simultaneous victory across the main server and several overflows at once. You know, to “keep engage as many people as possible in the exciting new content”

Temporary, zerg-centric LS combat is not reflective of a shift in design principle. The biggest majority of content in GW2 is created for 1-5 players minimum and I doubt that will ever change.

All the content that GW2 released with was designed for solo/small group play.

Never been to Orr, I see.

I was wondering if I was the only one. I can’t speak for the wurm thing but in most cases, I find most events much easier when playing by myself or with a friend than I do with dozens of players throwing the scaling out of balance.

I solo golem mk II on my ele, its very quick and easy alone. In a large group the fight takes forever.

I have been to Orr, right after release. Before they nerfed the best place in this game to ultra casuality.

You needed a small group for the group content. 5 people knowing what they were doing could open all tempels. Maybe 10 for opening Arah. But not 150 people to succeed the event.

So what are you talking about?

Yes Golem does downscale, I have been there with 3 others and completed it.
