What happened to high-res screenshots?
You can still make high res screenshots by adding the -bmp command to your exe file. Take care for your storage space however, the bmp files are very large.
I just tried this and although the files indeed turned into .bmp files that are much larger, the resolution is exactly the same.

It’s my understanding that it will not give you better than your current resolution but will prevent the loss of detail/reflections, etc.
All that does is change the file format to something uncompressed, versus something that is compressed and therefore loses detail. This isn’t what I’m talking about, though.
Back in beta, we could take high-resolution screenshots that would quadruple our current resolution. If you were playing at 1920×1080 (typical 1080p), your screenshot would be produced at 7680×4320. It wasn’t simply upscaling, either. The game engine was temporarily set to run a massive internal resolution to produce that frame.
I enjoyed doing this to make cool panoramic shots of the game. I could cut down one of these massive images and turn it into a dual-screen wallpaper.
The feature kind of just disappeared between beta and live, and I don’t remember anyone from ArenaNet ever mentioning it. I feel like I was the only person who even knew about it :’(
I wish a dev would see this.
