What happened to previous skins we had?
A net has to have some kind of log what we had.
What makes you think that way? That would need horrific amounts of resources that they should better spend on other things… (the problem is, only 1% or so of those logs would in fact be useful)
I don’t think that they had the wardrobe thingy in mind at the release date, so why should they log what skins every player once owned?

When someone’s acc is hacked, they return all the stuff people had before the hack. So i’m guessing it’s not impossible. Also with dyes, if you had double dye on your alt, as soon asd you logged in to your alt, you would get an unindentified dye for every double dye you have. So i’m guessing it’s not that hard to look into it. Again, maybe i’m wrong, maybe it’s super hard and not doable at all. I still think it’s unfair. If they didn’t think about the warderobe (players didn’t know either, if i knew i would store every skin in my bank and wait), then when they implemented it it would be fair to unlock the skins you had trough game right?
It really is much too late after the wardrobe change to expect this kind of thing.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure that they have some backups that may reach a month into the past or something, in case of hacks / emergencies etc, but we’re talking about something that was owned a year or more ago.

Sure, but they just had to look at the current state – when they decided to do dyes account bound, they had the possibility to implement an algorithm that counts the amount of double unlocked dyes and gives you the same amount in unids. No need to look into something from the past at all.
Did you talk to the outfit NPC (In the grove, he is standing next to the TP npc, on the right side) to transform your current outfits into the wardrobe? I hear lots of people overlooked this

What I thought was weird is that they didn’t use the fashion achievement the emperor which already tags each individual piece (soulbinding the same piece multiple times does not progress the track iirc) to do something similar to the dye system. I bet it would be a large amount of effort to have done so, but it protects player progress. And player progress is usually something you don’t want to destroy if you want to retain (“casual”) players.
That said, despite all the potentially lost progression from these updates, they have made this a much better game for certain audiences, as well being a natural and strong improvement on the original transmutation system, a large selling point.
I just hate all this resetting which makes me feel like we’re still in beta, even though I am a strong proponent of increased polish, and hope they try to minimize the damage done. But I’m rambling now and off topic, I’ll stop here.
Because you transmuted old skins I don’t know why it’s aproblem. You’ve lost them anyway. So now you want them to be put into your wardrobe because why exactly?
When wardrobe was introduced it was said in the introduction post that we’ll get the current skin and skin attached before the transmutation because this is how the skins are “remembered” on and item.
The account rollback works like Windows restore point. You choose a point in time and account is rolled back to that moment in time. So when you roll back your account it doesn’t check the chain of changes that happened on your account but it’s restoring account situation at fixed moment in time. I don’t understand why should they create a whole code segment to restore skins, especially at this point.

Yeah, I thought about that, too. The only reason I can imagine is, that the achievements don’t state which skins exactly you already bought – if it’s at 6/18, it could be tier 1, 2 or 3, and they wouldn’t have a way to determine what it was.
18/18 or even “The Emperor” title would be something else, of course – but I bet most players would find it unfair if only those would get the skins.
PS: Okay, I see your point with “no double skins counting for the achi”… so there should be some intern mechanic that remembers the bought pieces.

Back then when you transmuted skins, you were able to “save” the old skins that were really important to you, by transmuting them to cheap items that you could store in your bank or whereever.
You could not have known that there will be a wardrobe in the future, so if you deleted a skin, you did this, perfectly knowing that you are deleting it for good and that you will not get it back.
And now you want these skins back? That does not really add up.

Even if you have 18/18, there’s a total of 54 skins per race. Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and all of these come in light, medium and heavy. So, if two people have the “The Emperor” title, they still might call completely different skins their own.
