What happened to the anti griefing policy?
Hmmm PvP zone. The idea is to gather up a force strong enough to contend with it. There are a couple of ways, either you organize a group big enough with sites as well. Or use the stealth wells.

You do realise you can do the entire jumping puzzle while stealthed right? Just go on youtube and watch woodenpotatoes run through of it pretty easy
Kind of an old thread but worth resurfacing to point out to those complaining about the jumping puzzle that there are three stealth pools that you can get. In the video that was posted in this thread that shows you where they are.
The only thing that he was wrong about is that you can’t get from the second fountain to the third without being stealthed in plenty of time. It’s not possible unless you’re an elementalist with the passive speed boost like he was in the video. Without make any mistakes and taking the long way (no shortcut in dark room), you can almost get to the top of the pit area with the chandeliers before stealth ends. A mesmer can easily port a group up an overtake any campers.
I guess the next thing would be if anyone has any tips for quickly completing the puzzle.
I don’t know about EB, but I know in borderlands, everytime I’ve done the jumping puzzle there has been a gentlemens agreement among the players. And some guilds consider it bad form to attack anyone in the puzzle unless attacked 1st.
I did see a video on EB once that showed that it was designed to allow greifing, IE: being able to set off traps preventing others from completing the puzzle.
I remember, in so many games of yore, when there was actual PvP servers and PvP could, would, should, and hopefully did, pop off any-and-everywhere. If you were level 20 and a full raid of level 80s came raining down upon you to literally sit on your corpse you had to find a solution to this predicament – this fostered guilds and community bonding and backup would come riding to the rescue and before you know it, TA-DA – Congratulations! PvP is now occuring! We didn’t need flags to capture or points or nodes to occupy . We needed an opponent and just the flimsiest of reasons (or none at all was fine too) to assail them and dry hump their corpse’s severed head up and down the zone! Now that was good times – THAT was PvP!
One of my guild’s favorite group activities was waiting on full raids of the opposition heading off to some raid dungeon so we could just mow right over them again and again and make getting their whole raid to zone in nearly impossible and our ultimate goal was to eat up so much of their time they’d call it! Can you guess what they would do when we tried to go on a dungeon raid? Huh? Huh? YYYeeaahhh, that’s right! P’s were v’ing P’s ALL OVER THE PLACE! It was pure chaos and madness I tell you!
On occasion someone might make the mistake of going on the forums to complain that some guy killed some other guy and corpse camped him or killed all the NPCs at a quest hub or whatever. There was only one response to such complaints that was valid and it was the only one offered – PvP has occured on a PvP server.
Now a days we play what amounts to a “Tee Ball” version of PvP and with each succesive “PvP (I’m rolling my eyes so hard I’m literally looking at the prefrontal lobe of my brain right now) Game” we slip further and further down the scale toward Hello Kitty Online or whatever the kitten Butters plays. Now we’ve come to a point that PvP is completely segregated to one specific area, even in a so called “PvP Game”.
Years ago, you may have had to plan for days and wake up in the dead of night and enlist friends and guildies to assist you just to get into a certain zone to finish a quest because that particular zone may be an utter bloodbath around the clock – back then we called this “challenging content” and somehow we enjoyed this and were entertained by it – greatly entertained. The last great example I recall is getting my level 20~ Shaman in WoW to Tarren Mill for his water totem, before any PvP mini games were heard of. It took about 10 friends around my level and 4 hours to make it there – BARELY, and I was actually a sweaty nervous wreck by the time I got to that God forsaken well in that little village. Silly us, we thought we were having fun too!
Those days are gone though now and I don’t blame the game producers for that. They have to make games that the majority market share wants. Ten years from now we may find ourselves reminiscing about the hard-scrabble PvP warring of GW2 while new “PvP games” feature PvP rules like after you are killed in PvP you can’t be killed again until you get to kill someone so that it’s completely fair and everyone gets a turn at bat. I, for one, can hardly wait.
Until then though, I’ll just offer you this – PvP has occured in a PvP zone. Someone please alert A-Net and the media immediately…
Oh yeah, and more specifically relevant to the OP, you’re gonna have to pick the right time to slip in there and get your puzzle done or do some networking among your server’s community to overcome them with your virtual fists to get it done. You know, overcome the people confounding you in the PvP zone with a PvP solution. Or maybe they will somehow alter the PvP ruleset in the one lone PvP zone to prevent anyone from preventing anyone else from accomplishing anything “PvE-like” there. That honestly wouldn’t surprise me…
P.S I didn’t intend to come off sounding condescending here or to launch a ‘Rant-a’la-Soapbox’ either. Once I uncorked it though there was just no reigning it back in and it demanded to be said. It’s like a lament or even a dirge for the dead and gone, raw, blood and guts, life isn’t fair, PvP of yesteryear. Let us all pour a sip of our Dwarven Grog for our PvP homies – gone now but not forgotten…
I’ve PvP’d in a lot of games and I like WvW especially in this game. This particular issue is griefing. It is not PvP to sit back and watch people suffer because you’re a Kittenhat that can click a button over and over.
Disable the ability to make siege equipment in the puzzle and it goes back to being PvP. For perspective, the way it is now you are essentially setting up siege around the Keep Champion. The siege equipment should be set up out front as the first line of defense.
Well imo if they are doing this purely to accomplish a goal that needs to be acquired in wvw then its not griefing ….. if its being done purely to sit around and laugh at the fools trying to do the jump puzzle then its griefing
I have to agree with OP it makes no sense that there would be PVP in a PVP zone. What has the world come to. MADNESS I SAY, MADNESS!
Stop crying about PvP in a PvP zone. If you don’t like them killing you, then stop running into their kill zone they have created.
And before you cry about it being impossible to stop them, STOP. Use the tools given to you, and kill them in PvP.
I have personally bypassed campers in every part of the WvW jumping puzzles, and have killed the campers that were trying to kill me at every one of those kill zones. Jumping puzzle PvP happens to be the thing about this game that I love the most.
If you really want to farm jumping puzzles, there are plenty of non-PvP jumping puzzles… in fact there are only really two jumping puzzles that are for us PvPers. And no, you can’t have these two puzzles as well you greedy kittens.
And if you want to complain that you can’t get PvP rewards from your PvE Jumping puzzles, then tough luck, maybe you’ll have to PvP for those PvP rewards. Alternatively you can just wait for your server to clear everything and then just leech off their hard work.
Jumping puzzle PvP gives something unique to the game. It gives an actual death penalty. This gives the fights a lot higher stakes. Makes killing your foe, or getting killed by your foe a lot more exciting. Also it allows you to work your fancy JP footwork into your PvP. The most exciting 1v1 fight I’ve ever had was against a Guardian while scaling up the cliff to the Lower Key on a borderland JP, we both ended up grabbing the little chest, and the fight was concluded by a little misstep by my opponent (he had burned his defensive cool downs and I had burned his HP pool, and I evaded his knockbacks, so he was losing the fight anyways). The most fun group fights I have ever had in this game was in the Eternal Battlegrounds puzzle, where the enemy was camping the top of the arena with copious amounts of siege. After sneaking by the campers and portaling in our smaller group, we charged the campers and murdered them all.
One thing I’ve found about campers, is that they are almost always pretty bad at PvP. So you PvEers probably still stand a good chance at killing them if you are able to sneak up on them.
Edit: There is one place I wasn’t able to bypass the siege assisted kill zone. That was when the enemy server set up a big kill zone right at the very start of the puzzle, giving you no way of bypassing or surprising the campers.
