What if Legendary Armor existed?
with the pathetic amount of req mats drop, i wouldn’t bother. But if it was significantly increased, the armor is what i would make over a weapon any day (unless it looks ugly)
I’d probably make Dragon Chests contain tokens, you need X amount of it.
Then you need Adventurer Tokens from Jumping Puzzles, X amount as well.
Then give a journal to players that give hints as to where other tokens are found, the player will then have to figure out where they hide and waiting there will be a champion or something defending the chest. I DONT KNOW
i wouldnt make any of it. same way i dont make any of the legendary weapons
Lol. If there was indeed legendary armor, it would be awesome to see a Quaggan donning one coupled with two Twilight Swords (Dual wielding ftw)
If they worked the same way as legendary weapons it would be awesome. You would then have grind insurance for all slots and upon completion you would never need to grind out new tiers of gear. That would make them truly legendary and well worth the effort involved to get them. I think it’s a great idea for those who wish to opt out of the gear grind treadmill that vertical progression will bring to GW2.
The ONLY way this could be implemented, would be for a massive “quest” that encompasses everything in the game and is ONLY profession specific.
Imagine a Guardian for instance. Like the epic shield, they would have the Flameseeker Prophecies on their shoulder armor, a gleaming shine to the plate on their gear giving off a slight glow aura around them, leaving a small light blue/white trail of “glitter” or smoke when they move around. Even give it a profession specific bonus or cosmetic effect when used (right click chest armor to activate the effect when you have the whole set equipped sort of thing). Like it makes the Guardian levitate in place with a glowing aura around them (purely cosmetic of course).
I couldn’t see just a regular set of Legendary Armor for just anyone. I believe it would have to be profession specific and require that profession to go on a long journey to obtain it. Make the “quest” involve them using their skills in perfect moments and having to switch up utilities for certain moments. It would require you to have all your skills unlocked as it would make use of them all at certain times. And the “quest” would be geared towards your profession completely.
In the end of all this grueling work and dedication, you come across a tomb or something with the Legendary Armor of an unsung hero or something. You retrieve it and your journey ends. It would be a “quest” that would take you quite awhile to finish basically, but not something that is going to require you to farm materials or grind for gold for RNG luck. It would actually be something that could be considered Legendary.
But with our luck, they’ll probably make it an RNG MF thing that we have to farm mats for and play the lottery for.

Oh, I want to build off of what Kaizer said. Maybe something like this?
While weapons should keep the same method due to the amount of work (or wallet emptying as of late) but armors should take a different approach. These should be obtained through actual hard work and not mindless grinding, achieving one “token” per accomplishment such as:
-A non-timed jumping puzzle complete with moving obstacles and timing traps. Should have little to no combat and should favor the more intrepid explorers.
-A legendary boss solo fight (I.E. instanced) where you have the freedom to use whatever you have to take down the enemy.
-An environment fight where you must rely on what’s available on the field to take down your opponents. Perhaps the fight is in waves?
-A PvE map wide scavenger hunt that has a little bit of everything.
-A test of knowledge.
-Revisit your personal story and face the challenges you came across one at a time, gaining allies you had made as the matches progress.
Borrowing the Pact token system, each token from a challenge should give a piece of the armor directly related to the challenge. For example:
-Jumping Puzzle gives a token for Leg armors.
-Legendary Solo Boss should give a Chest Piece.
-Environment should be gloves
-PvE map scavenger is boots
-Knowledge is Helmet
-Personal Story is Shoulders.
I imagine there being three different armor sets for each type of armor class. An “Angelic”, “Demonic”, and “Chaotic” set for all three of the light, medium, and heavy classes; in total, nine unique armor designs. I’d prefer for these to just be skins and NOT actual pieces of armor. They should also be account bound.
Something like that? I’d work for that.
As with Legendary weapons, I am of the opinion that Legendary armor should be legendary because my character did something legendary while wearing it, not because I, as a player, performed some legendary grind or spent some legendary amount of real life money on in-game currency to get the materials to make it.
Legendary armor?? Better no – with so much epic high need of materials it will take half of normal human life to make full legendary gear and some older players could die sooner before they make some pieces of legendary armor. As said Tachenon. There should be another way how obtain legendary armors (from example one piece of your armor become legendary after killing Zaithan or another epic monster) or weapons and not only epic farming 24/day. Generally legendary weapons now have excessive demands and requirements should be reduced.
It will never happen and ruin progression in the game. There always has to be some progression in the game or alot will lose interest. Keep legendaries on weapons only.
Although I would love to find that perfect armor that will always increase but what next?
What would set legendary armor apart from any other type of armor? Crazy particle and character effects like the weapons? I could see that getting gaudy fast if every piece of equipment had its own separate special effects going. Weapons are probably enough.
I’d like to see an epic quest line following the footsteps of the original prophecy game. At each mission point in the original game there will be a group of quests recalling the history of the area and what has happened since then (you can even add a scavenger hunt to each area that people have been asking for too). It would be nice if we saw this from the eyes of the diffrent peoples that live and had lived there, not just the humans point of view.
At the end you would recieve an updated version of an original prohecy game armor based on your armor class and/or profession that you are. You would then do this for each of the games and the expansion that came after.
Focusing at Ehra’s post here…
That’s not really the topic of the thread but it’s still a valid point. The armor wouldn’t have to be that much different. What sets most Legendaries apart is slightly altered footsteps and attack patterns, having an armor set that changed hues or maybe had some wisps floating around it would still look legendary without being over the top. I for one would love to see souls of the dead floating around my robes or having protective spikes emerge from my armor once combat was engaged. Better yet, the simpler the effects are while still being visually appealing, the easier characters could potentially mix and match.
Hmm, grind so you don’t have to grind. Think it would ultimately depend on your grind preference, similar to games that offer either a $10 monthly fee or a lifetime membership for $500. If the present value of a player’s expected future grinding over their account life is less than the grinding involved in getting legendary then it might not be worth it.
Oh my god, what a nightmare grind..i dont even wanna think about it. Hard enough gearing up my alts with exotics and ascended rings.
If legendary armor existed i wish it would be just one set. Even if it wasnt armor, What if the legendary armor was a Cape or Cloak. If it was a cape or cloak i wish it was long and not a short cape like gw1. Some examples:

No full plan in mind, but I’ll throw in some ideas. Maybe instead of creating individual pieces, the whole set could be created at once? You know, like the armor boxes. I feel that way it wouldn’t damage the material market as badly, and the gaudy problem could be better accounted for as designers make the set as a whole. It’d probably just end up looking awesome and having some time of subtle aura like particle effect (not like the ele auras).
Two or three of each armor type could be implemented, and an epic scavenger hunt to acquire all of the pieces throughout Tyria (and maybe Cantha and Elona as well, since something like this would be in the distant future). There’d also be extremely difficult dungeons you have to beat to gather the powerful magic enchantments of various aspects of nature in the temple at the end (not an actual stat effects of course, just the cool effects type). This could just be elite versions of existing dungeons so we can get some new content for everybody, but you can only enter them after having complete all the paths and maybe paying a dungeon gift as a one time entrance fee. Eventually you’d have to travel to the hall of heroes in the mists once you’ve put together your armor set and have had it enchanted at each of the 8 temples.
You’d also need stuff for each enchantment, which would probably be materials you get can buy from TP since our devs love gold sinks :p but not as much as than you would for legendary weapons.
Obviously just a major grind fest so someone can show off how they have no life XD
I think legendary armor should be a cape that would be nice. Like a big red cape or any color to choose from with the option to put on a guild emblem

Hopefully when you completed whatever method for Legendary armor you got a box with the entire armor set in it and not just 1/6 piece. :s
Neat-o ideas. I’ll add some of the main ideas to the first post for you all.
have a look at the current T3 cultural.
people wore it in hordes..
if legendary armor existed, all rich/hardcore people will look exactly the same..
with minor differences in color and race.
yup! clones!!! boring clones!
Nah, if they folllow my opinion, each class would be one of three, so only 1/3 of all hardcore light armor classes would look exactly the same XD
