Lets say I’m on the ground fighting for my life. I’m weak, beaten and throwing rocks at a bird. If I hit and kill the bird I Rally. Why?

What kind of sorcery is this?

If so then that would imply an adrenaline rush? Aren’t those temporary? How does ones wounds permanently heal after acquiring the thrill of victory?

You’re surprised by sorcery in a world that is held together by magic?

I want to be able to understand that magic. I’m not satisfied with just magic. Why is the sky blue? Because magic. Duh.

Yep. The adrenaline rush is temporary, gets you back on your feet to keep fighting.

If no one around to fight, you take the time to heal your wounds (out of combat regen)

I’d be more concerned why you’re getting killed by a bird.

Pretty much yea . blowing things up heals you . Its best not to question logic in games where you fire rockets from your crotch and rain down great balls of fire from the sky.

If it was temporary you’d go down again after a certain amount of time. The downed state makes you bleed health until 0. The act of fighting for your life is an attempt to avoid you from reaching 0. But when you rally, you gain health, similar to chugging a potion or casting a spell.

I’m interested in understanding the “magic” in healing yourself by killing a bird.

Oh no, I’m being overwhelmed! Too… many… enemies… A stroke of luck, I’ve eliminated one of the threats! That’s just the opening I need to reach into my belt pouch and sift through the 400 pounds of copper ore, 15 trees worth of wood, a full pantry, an armory complete with thousands of arrows and rubber axes and my entire wardrobe. There, I find my second pet, a thousand pound brown bear named Bob. He quickly passes me a specially blended poultice I keep for just such medical emergencies. It does the trick and I’m back in the action!

Bob, fetch my Charrzooka, if you please.

Yea, how is it possible to carry 40,000 logs of wood in our bags anyway?

15 trees is about 60 logs of wood in game.

Well a stack is 250 logs and I have 160 slots in my bags. I could technically carry 40,000 logs of wood which would probably be the size of a skyscraper. Unless of coarse there’s some kind of sorcery involved.

Obviously that’s why we only chop down small trees. You try and carry around 500 pounds of wood from big trees, that’s just crazy. 500 pounds of wood from small trees is way lighter. We just have to think about these things logically.

what irks me is when something doesn’t rally you. Enemy Dolyaks in WvW is an excellent example.
This one time, in WvW, I was being slaughtered by 4 enemies in a pack of wild Moas. They downed me like 4 times in 10 seconds and were nice enough to kill a moa (while trying to finish me off) so I could rally and run away to fight again another day.

Have you tested this with both “types” of dolyaks? There are the ones that are already on the move and then there are the ones still at a camp. One will attack you but the other will just keep walking along.

Birds have wings, dragons also have wings, ergo birds are servants of the Dragons.
Killing a bird severs the Dragon’s bond with it releasing some of the magic (for dragons eat magic as we all know) and you use that magic to revive yourself.

There you go.

It’s because ANet has left out one very important detail. EVERYONE IN THIS GAME IS SECRETLY A VAMPIRE. (Wow, I feel so much better now I’ve told you this. Shhhh. It’s still a secret, don’t tell no one else).

When you kill something while dying, you suck the life force out of them. This increases your life force and health allowing you to heal and get to your feet.

This is the whole basis of the new living story and expansion after the Scarlet one is over. It will be vampires versus the next dragon. We will turn into giant bats and suck the dragon’s blood and life force out in an epic fight that leaves it a dried husk on the ground. And we will be enormous bloated balls of dragon blood, lying on the ground beside it.

And just think, you heard it here. (I hope ANet doesn’t read this or I will be in such trouble for letting you know the next stage of this game).

Rallying and downed is simply a state of mind. When you’re standing in a field of battle facing against an enemy and you begin to be overrun, what is going to happen? People are going to retreat. Now what happens if someone boosts morale and shows those who are wavering that they can win? They stand their ground.

Getting downed is simply is getting thrown to the ground and thinking you’ve lost – you’re weak and flailing. Rallying is realizing you still have chance – your second wind.

What is out of combat health regen is really the question.

You always heal as soon as you’re out of combat, immediately. You could be cut and bleeding and burnt, but as soon as you’re out of combat, you heal immediately.

You can’t really question rallying without questioning that, because very likely your question about rallying would be answering by answering out of combat healing first.

Like nearly fainting and then just about manage to stay concious.

If you play the naïve guy and aks like this, then just start to ask, why you don’t have any wounds and heal right after a fight. It’s made to make it easier. A totally realistic game would start and if you die, you are dead forever.

Really…
