First of all i want to say i really enjoy this game, and i know there’s a lot of discussion about this, so i just wanted to give my 2 cents.

This whole collections system could be a lot of fun, but for me it fails because to be able to craft a precursor i need to stop enjoying guild wars 2, stop playing like i used to play and embark on a journey that will make me collect non stop every day for the next 90 days.

It doesn’t make sense to me that 90% of the materials needed to craft a legendary precursor don’t drop or can’t be gathered in any of the relevant areas of the game.

I bought HoT and i barely have time to play in the new maps, because all that i am doing is gather materials every day, and I barely play fractals anymore because of the same reason.

In my opinion this needs to balanced, i don’t say to reduce the overall needed mats to craft the new precursors, but to ship the needed time to gather those materials to the areas with actual fun content or to the areas that people actually enjoy playing the game.

I would much rather be in the fractal of the mists collecting 2k of something materials or 1k prestine relics, or in silverwastes collecting 10k bandit crests, or in dry Trop collecting 10k geodes, than to be mindless gathering materials all around tyria everyday because that leaves me no time to do anything else.

Edit:
And i forgot that, with the new guild halls, many of the materials needed to upgrade the guild hall clash with the precursor crafting, this may cause an increased friction in this game among guilds and guild members because donating items will stall your character progression.

What’s wrong with the current state of precursor crafting is using ascended materials that were already high traffic and not creating a unique material that used lower quality less sought after materials or items.

What is wrong with Precursor crafting is that it costs more to craft than it does to just buy off the TP.

As it SHOULD.

Crafting a precursor is a surefire way to attain it. Buying one off the TP is also a surefire way, but it depended on RNG for the previous owner to obtain.

Crafting was never intended to be an easier way….. it’s merely a simple a way to put continuous effort towards one.

It’s not about the continuous effort, or the long journey, i understand that we need to put time an effort to craft a legendary weapon, is about spending 90 days doing the same thing over and over and over and over again, just to start all over again if we want to get another legendary, it’s NOT a fun journey.

All i was saying is we need some diversification in this journey, because it’s not fun, it wores people out and takes away all the fun that it is playing guild wars 2, the legendary crafting in my opinion should be more about playing the game in different locations, getting map currency, playing dungeons/fractals and not running around gathering materials for 90 days, because after all the daily gathering i’m left with no time to actually play the game, and that’s just sad.

But, if crafting the precursor requires both more time, and more gold than simply buying one off the TP, why even bother attempting to craft a precursor in the first place? If you want to put continuous effort towards obtaining a precursor…don’t spend your gold until you have enough to purchase one.

Those armadillos would be a lot cooler if they looked more like real armadillos. mmm armadillos

Tell that to the forge jockeys that spent more in gold buying and tossing rares/exotics into the MF before getting one…or not at all. They too would have been better off just buying it straight from the TP.
