Hello,
i jusy bought the game with a friend, and i wanted to know what are the best combinations of professions for two players, for example: The profession X have a series of skills that really easy things up for profession Y, and vice-versa. My friend really liked the PvP modes so i wanted to know if these combinations are good for World vs World vs World.

Look up combo fields and combo finishers.

All professions work solo and any profession can work with any other profession. Pick what you like to play and go with it.

Agree with Torsailr……all depends on how you spec/play them. But, just to answer your question, my wife and I play the game a lot together and find that a Guardian/Mesmer and a Ranger/Elementalist are two duos that work quite well. You can also switch those two, as a Ranger/Mesmer and a Guardian/Elementalist also work quite well.

Nice! Thanks! One more thing… Is the mesmer too difficult? I mean, i think he is really awesome but he also looks really hard to master, would it be too hard for a first character?

Depends. If you have played other difficult characters in other mmos, then you probably wouldn’t have much trouble with it. I have played a mesmer for quite some time, and have gotten used to how to play it. I just started an elementalist, and actually find it more difficult to play, just because I am not used to the character.

I think it all comes down to how often you play the character, and how good you are at learning from your mistakes. And ya never know, you might just not enjoy the mesmer…….I find it to be a very fun character….challenging to play well.

Both my wife and I think that the Ranger is probably a very good and very fun first character……not too hard to play, and good versatility in WvW and PvE.

Still, I would not want to discourage you from trying any character for your first…..they all have different pros and cons…..if you two need any help, feel free to give me a holler in game…..I am on the Kaineng server.

For teamplay, any profession is ok with any other, so go on what you two want.

For difficulty, though, it depends.
Usually the simplest are the Guardian and the Warrior.
The middle ones are the Thief, the Ranger and the Engineer.
The trickiest ones may be the Elementalist, the Mesmer and the Necromancer.
(Yes, difficulty scales with their armor XD)
But it’s all about what you feel the most in accordance with your personality. Follow your instincts and you can’t be wrong

This is awesome, i already tought the game was awesome, now that i bought it and i am downloading it, i keep discovering new features and stuff, it is great to know that there is a great gaming community playing the game, thank you!

Duo; bunker prof (ranger, guard, engi) + spike prof (warrior, thief, ele) or spike prof (warrior, thief, ele) + pressure applicant (ranger, engi, thief, necro)

For 5 man group;
Easy to roll with multiple functions and a plethora of “lifelines”:
Venomshare thief, Shout + BM bunker ranger, zerker shout-warrior, guardian, PU mesmer.

That mix together should bring insane CC, strong damage, enough regen and healing to survive anything and enough “petting zoo” tick off that which they cannot kill.

Warrior and Mesmer! But I’m bias, those are my two favorites professions to play and they cover a wide range of styles, are fun and useful in all end game content. Warrior is easy to level up with, but Mesmer is difficult. It’s hard to kill things quickly as a young mesmer, but with a war by your side things will die fast.

Do some practice with your Mesmer. It is a fine yet fun dance to balance your clones and illusions along with the other fun Mesmer tricks like temporal curtain, feedback, mass invis, and time warp among others. Once you learn the dance it is great fun.

Thank you guys for the big help, and Teon, i still have to decide this with my friend, but i want to change to a more populated server(No characters=Free transfer) because Kaileng is too empty, in 2 hours of gameplay i only found 2 persons and they were AFK… I don’t really know if we will really do that, but the chances are high, thank you for the help, anyway. Maybe we can guest into your server when we got at the same level as you, so we can make something togheter..

Hi man, I am brazilian too.
I am at server Sanctum of Rall, which once was the mightiest server in WvW.
Due to bribery and backstabbings, we are not number one anymore.
I have participated in 2 brazilian guilds on this server (Ultimate Legion and Lunaticos) which were both focused on WvW but had also PvP and PvE players.

Usually this will allow you to talk in portuguese in Teamspeak and other voice services.
Friend me if you feel like it, soon when they implement Megaserver we will be all be together at the maps that have most of our friends, and there will be not empty servers anymore.

Yea, Kaineng is a bit low on population, altho the megaserver patch that is coming soon should help solve the population problems on the smaller pop servers.
