Guild Wars 2

If you met someone in real-life and found out that they played Guild Wars 2, which profession would they have to be to impress you the most?

I’m trying to make a good impression on my friend who plays this game, so I want to know which one I should focus on hitting 80 with first.

PvP-wise… Eng… if you’re good at it. Not because it’s the strongest, but it takes a lot of skill to play well. I would have said Ele before… but they their instantly available vapor form and were thus granted the best downed state in the game by far.

I would be chill with anything other than warrior/thief though :P

perma stealth, highest dps and best mobility. you will look really good with those. honestly, it does very well in wvwvw.

Honestly, for me it is a tie between Engineer, Ranger, and Elementalist. They all require quite high skill levels to defeat opponents even though ele is a bit cheap in the downed state right now. Obviously, this means you need to be good with the profession or else you look terrible giving the opposite impression.

Ele is easier for beginners(non-player observers) to appreciate. Playing an engineer would scare them away because they would think that the game is so hard =p

Now that you mention it, after playing other MMOs with a stealth specialised class like the assassin in Aion, the thief in GW2 is sooo much better!

Mainly because you can constantly stealth while in combat forcing your opponent to lose target constantly, and not be able to use (at least for a mesmer) majority of their skills which require a target…

That’s pretty impressive!

NB: I’m not bashing thieves, but as Columba said, you have great stealth, great DPS, and great mobility, I’m sure a lot of newcomers will enjoy those features of a thief.

EDIT: Oh another great part of a thief is that no other class has a ‘reveal’ ability where they can see you while in stealth! Even better! :P
