Why did you make this zone? It’s the same 1 mob model spammed over and over across the map in various sizes. The mobs are obnoxious to fight Navigating the zone is awful. There’s no real story. Nothing here makes any sense. Traversing the zone is a pain. There’s no interesting locations.

All this zone serves to is punish anyone that gets a guild mission here. The game would be BETTER if you un-added this zone to the game. Any time that I’m forced to go here I’m reminded what a waste of development time it was.

So its Orr without event chains…

Now obviously Arena Net has a plan for this zone.

for a start the geyser jp was great fun, also they are obviously adding stuff to the zone with flame and frost BE PATIENT

Hey. It sounds like you don’t like this zone and/or are terrible at it.

I don’t mind it, it’s nice. I liked the Karka event. I think it’s swell that Fire&Frost refugees are endin up there. I like the extra orichalcum and ancient wood nodes. I really enjoyed the Rich Orichalcum Node. I hated the “roll to win” mob tactics. New passionflower nodes are awesome, more crafting options are great. I also enjoyed finding the guild bounty there with my guild.

Why all the complaining?

Yep, when Flame and Frost conclude, that place will be useful…

Or just add a world boss there with a chest.

It has the potential to be awesome, and they just let that potential continually go to waste. They’re making a huge mistake in not prioritize expanding and developing it.

Lets see it was made for the one time event back in the day showing us and Anet what they can and cant do with live events. Its a guild bounty zone. Its a zone for ppl who hate undead and snow at level 80. It was crafting items that no other zone has. Its where you can get the only exotic gen earring item. Its where they are putting some of the refuges from the F&F living story (ppl are thinking it may be used for the consortium base). You can get a cool ranger pet from there. There a very fun JP that may give a precursor at the true end of it.
They are adding new things to all zones why should this be any different?

It was a nice weekend of unique one time events there. I really enjoyed that.
But I have to admit I’ve barely visited the zone since then. Not much to do there now.
I really hope they will add some more content to that zone later on though. That’d be awesome.

What is the point of Queensdale?
What is the point of Sparkfly Fen?
What is the point of Dessa Plateu?

What is the point of Any map! Anet should just remove them all and we’ll just float through a game of nothingness!

Its a new map! With new enemies new challenges, and new rewards. I wish Anet made more of them! Id love to see the entire map be explorable someday!

Just because a map is late to the party doesn’t mean it has to do be some hugely special thing does it? Be glad it came at all!

On that note It IS being used. In the NE shoreline Refugees are setting up camp and building a new city there.

My guess/hope is that this is just the first of many new area. Including the tengu city. I hope anet releases a new map every so often.

A couple NPC’s in the refugee camp in LA talk about how they are getting a fresh start in SSC thanks to the Consortium. Obviously some kind of shenanigans are at work but we will just have to wait and see how far Anet decides to go with it.

The crab guild rush is easily the most fun of the bunch, and as far as bounties go I prefer wildman over pretty much anything else.

Guild missions aside, there isn’t much purpose for it though.

I sound like a broken record, but content takes time. They opened up the island. There are two jumping puzzles on it and a couple of events. It’s the only place in the world to farm passion flowers and karka shells.

And it’s a place where new content can be added as time goes on.

I don’t see a problem here.

Its out right sad at this point to try to come after the game in this way because every time the argument it used it weakens it point over all.

“I think the game is sad and getting sadder because of X reason” yet they still post here and play the game that they find sad to be a game in the first places. Its one thing to make a point of something you do not like but to out right dam a game because of small bit that are not comply finished by using such strong language is hyperbole.

My god! There’s one zone in the world that has been left open for further expansion! What a total waste!

Anet said when they released it that it would be relatively empty until they did something with it later. I don’t find a single empty zone, and a small one at that, sufficiently interesting enough to make an entire thread about it.

What to do in Southsun:
1)Enemy that cannot be fought anywhere else.
2)A decent long event chain
3)Guild Bounty
4)Guild Rush
5)Guild Challenge
6)Two jumping puzzles

There is some stuff there to do. Its not completely barren…

Going to SC is like ingame holiday

Very nice artistically tho some areas are a bit too unaccessible compared to the rest of the open world where you can get everywhere intuitively.

Its a welcome change from all those Risen and corrupted ice mobs at lvl 80 and I like it not being crowded by DE farmers like Orr.

Every time I walk around that huuuuge Karka lair I wonder why Anet doesnt make that event repeatable, similar to the dragon events maybe (thats the only “negative” I can think about).

If one follows the Flame&Frost story, we can expect some change with those refugees settling down there, hopefully they wont ruin the “natural flair” there

The refugees from F&F already DID move there.

Check the camps in SC and you will see some npc tourists.

If you guys checked periodically you would notice that each and every big patch adds little things. The Inlet waypoint has portals being built and more structures.
