Q:

So basically, I got bored with GW 2 and eventually quit playing around the time Caudicus’s Manor was patched to be harder, way back then I used to run it endlessly to level up. I got to about lvl 71 or so before I put GW 2 back on the shelf. I decided to revisit GW 2 recently and have finally managed to get myself to level 80. Being the lazy guy that I am I bought some diamonds and then bought some lvl 80 dungeon gear off the auction house. But it’s been so long and so many updates have happened I have no idea what to do as a level 80. What is there for me to do now?

PvE: Living World content (there’s been some decent stuff recently) and the upcoming stuff on the August 6th looks like its going to be great! Maybe try soloing champions, as the rewards for them will be mega updated as well.

WvW: Go out there and hunt people, see if you can kill anyone with your new gear.

Living World content? As in just events that pop up around the maps, or are you referring to something new that I am not aware of?

Living World content is new stuff that is added into the game every two weeks. It has everything from new (small) zones, minigames, activities, dungeons, achievements and dynamic events.

You should have mail ingame when you log in, just follow those instructions and get busy. I’d wager with a decent playtime per day you won’t get bored soon.

Not much of a legendary weapon hunter, a crafter, achievement hunter, or collector, I’m not much for pvp or wvw either. Living Story seems nice but I don’t think I can do that since I haven’t completed my personal story yet(yes/no?) And since I can’t purchase dungeon gear I guess I can do that. And Fractals. I don’t have a guild though so I don’t have many options.

You don’t need to complete your Personal Story to participate in any of the Living Story content – they are different story arcs.

Well it’s your fault then that the game is boring for you. You don’t want to do that, you can’t to this because of that blabla. Get Yo Butt up and just do it, maybe it’s fun and you don’t know it yet.

  • Fractals of the Mists

Once you get lvl48, and have no need for rings/bags/capes, nothing drops here worthwhile

  • Guild Missions

6 badges/week, done in a couple hours

  • Living Story

Can be finished on release day in couple hours

  • WvW

ZvZ content, skill lag, need to grindout 300 levels for skills

  • PvP (tournament & battleground style)

Trash, no reward outside of cosmetics

  • World exploration

Finished in a week

  • Achievements, crafting, collections

all my alts have crafting maxed
all minis is only couple of gold
AP relies heavily on dailies

  • Create a legendary weapon

Just waiting on gold for precursor or the new precursor questchain

other than that, there’s nothing to do.

Watch out, we got a kitten over here who finishes everything really fast because he’s a efficent pro gamer.
You realise that other people don’t do content with the same speed you do?
If you play content just to finish it, you are doing it wrong anyways. You play content to play it, to have fun doing it, and if you do it that way, it will take much more time.

Sorry man. Nobody makes MMOs for people who play all day. Find some other hobbies maybe? Or get a job?

Not sure how much you have seen of the world- so why not just check that out?
Run around, explore, hang out with random people- you don’t have to be in a guild to do that.

The Living Story is an developing story arc that happens in short increments every 2 weeks and there are many things you can check out to see if you enjoy it- if not it won’t kill you to skip it.
here is a summary of what happened so far.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Living_World_Summary

Essentially as a level 80 the whole game is open to you- so it is up to you to find the things that you enjoy doing and that fit your time and play style.

good luck

I’d be bored too if it weren’t for my guild. Nothing wrong with the game it’s like that in all MMOs for me. A good guild is what makes the game for many people.

I think you really need a guild or some people to play with. That is all GW2 has to offer and is pretty much, if you don’t enjoy any of those activities, maybe GW2 is not the game for you.

@Charak
If something is not rewarding to do it doesn’t mean it isn’t an option. With that in mind. With that in mind.

Fractals
“Once you get lvl48, and have no need for rings/bags/capes, nothing drops here worthwhile”
See above

Guild missions
“6 badges/week, done in a couple hours”
Your point? There’s plenty of different missions.

Living Story
“Can be finished on release day in couple hours”
With guides maybe. And it’s released every 2 weeks, I don’t know about you but I don’t expect content that lasts months every 2 weeks, that’s unreasonable.

WvW
“ZvZ content, skill lag, need to grindout 300 levels for skills”
No NEED to grind at all, it’s ZvZ only if you want it to be, skill lag happens in the most populated servers only and at prime time, when there are huge clashes.

PvP
“Trash, no reward outside of cosmetics”
If you are trakitten it it doesn’t make it trash. See above.

World Exploration
“Finished in a week”
Only if done with the map open running as fast as possible from point to point without actually exploring anything, missing a thousand of cool JPs, minidungeons, secret spots, some interesting dynamic events/NPCs and I could go on.

Dinner’s ready, gotta run!
.

“We have no first-person view because stupid people would lock into it”
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”

  • Fractals of the Mists

Once you get lvl48, and have no need for rings/bags/capes, nothing drops here worthwhile

Fractal skins continue to drop last I checked, and they have a rather low chance as well. Leveling more characters to 48 is a good option, while gearing lots of alts with Rings is another. If you have a friend/guildie that was higher than 48 before the big agony patch/nerf/fix you can level up higher than 48, up to your friend’s level, doing odd number fractals. The cap is at 80, so Fractals never actually stop.

  • Guild Missions

6 badges/week, done in a couple hours

That doesn’t mean it’s not there, and it’s not something to do, is it?

  • Living Story

Can be finished on release day in couple hours

If you ONLY do the Living Story achievements on that day AND play a lot of hours (can’t be done in couple that’s a fact) then yes you could do it at release day. Reasonable human beings with proper life and/or other interests in the game won’t do it at release but take their time.

  • WvW

ZvZ content, skill lag, need to grindout 300 levels for skills

I don’t know about you, but there is a slight possibility that lots of people like WvW, so the WvW levels come as a result of doing something they enjoy rather than leveling mindlessly for the rewards. Ever thought of that? No?

  • PvP (tournament & battleground style)

Trash, no reward outside of cosmetics

See WvW above, I won’t repeat myself. You are clearly a player that plays for the rewards, fortunately this game is not for you, your favorite grind-only game is that way.

  • World exploration

Finished in a week

Of course, including WvW as well right? On multiple chars? I got 3 and will finish my 4th soon.

  • Achievements, crafting, collections

all my alts have crafting maxed
all minis is only couple of gold
AP relies heavily on dailies

Wow all your alts have all crafting disciplines maxed? you are a pro.
