So, I’m running into a period of burnout. I have a fully geared max character of every profession I want to play, have attained a PvP rank I’m happy with, cleared all the dungeons, etc.

Because of this, I’ve started looking at other MMOs, but really I’d rather stay with GW2. The problem is that there really isn’t much engaging, challenging content here to keep my feet on the ground.

So, I need to ask: What is there to look forward to? Why should I stick around?

LOL there is still the bi-weekly update (aka living stories). It should keep you busy for 2 to 3 days every 2 weeks.

Other than that, WvW maybe your next best bets.

If you are not interested in the above then the next 2 big mmos is coming out in spring 2014. Or wait until GW2 decided to make an expansion but that might be a very long wait. My guess is at least spring 2015.

The best advice is to find a good active guild with a voice chat. This is MMORPG not a single player RPG. If you play it like a single player RPG its gonna be a bad one (wait better option for that on the market). But MMORPG is about playing with other people. Everything is way better with some friends (even if it only gaming friend). WvW is better, sPvP is better, PvE is better. You can go for a Legendary and again in guild this is way better. You can max out your crafting profession and go for ascended weapons, ascended armor is coming soon, that a lot of stuff to complete.

Well, the living story holds pretty much no interest to me. I’m going to go for the S1 WvW achieves in hopes that it will keep some interest in WvW as it hasn’t really appealed to me much so far.

As for the MMOs coming out:

Wildstar holds a lot of promise in its game mechanics, housing system, and overall polish. However, the story/style of the game is…problematic. The only female characters…lack variety (I won’t get into that here) and a lot of the videos so far are presented pretty much the way a hyper middle school kid who watches too many rated R movies would advertise a game.

Everquest Next is very promising from the little they’ve shown…but they’ve shown very, very little so far.

The game has had shallow end-game since release. You can stick around but in the end it is always more of the same. Either you deal with the content and temp content or you don’t, that is all there is to it. I continue to pick at this game simply because there is nothing else out there I haven’t already burned out on or that has any interest for me. I had hopes for EQ, but I am getting doubts with recent discussions going on there.

Hey dude you are walking into a wall.

To me it seems like there is only Living Story to look forward to for now. They’ve repeatedly denied expansions, and the Realm Vs Realm (RvR aka WvW) implementation in this game is one of the worst, least-rewarding, and most zergy I have ever seen. I think that in theory, WvW is supposed to be the end-game, as it uses your PvE looks and gear that you worked so hard for, in reality any RvR MMO not based upon DAoC tends to fail because they get too insane with ideas (for example siege spam) instead of using what works, so ultimately this game just has no end-game.. of any kind.

They could still fix it, but given that its taking them what 1 1/2 years just to finally fix the queuing issue by adding a new map… I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Sadly, there isn’t much more unless you like that tediously boring Scarlet. They occasionally work in some decent temporary content, but most of it gets old after a few hours.

The holiday content is a hit or miss (Mad King and Trixx last year was awesome) the Bloody Prince this year was a weak sauce so coming back in December to see they do would be a good idea.

Otherwise, wait another year and maybe, just maybe, they’ll actually expand the continent and content of Tyria with something permanent and exciting.
