What is your favorite Profession?
Necromancer since GW1.
- Piken Square, [REN][DKAL]
Warrior for low manning content, elementalist for group content.
Necromancer, I just love the concept and what it does, plus it’s always satisfying to show people who know nothing about it what it can do.
After that, probably engi. I enjoy the versatility offered by it, even if the traitlines are a mess right now. Scrapper looks like it’ll be a lot of fun to play.
Third, guardian, it’s growing on me. Love the blocks, and the shield is now pretty fun to use.
“Favorite” is hard call for me. :P
My ‘main’ is a Warrior. Solid class for almost every occasion.
My other favorites, I also enjoy Elementalist and Mesmer, and I have a Ranger I use quite often.

it seems many like them better than the games they comment on.” -Horrorscope.7632
Uhm…. is it possible to have more than one?
I guess ele would be the favorite of favorites. Been my main since GW1.
Mesmer > Engineer > Guardian > Necromancer > Warrior > Elementalist > Thief > Ranger.
Necromancer for me. I don’t give a kitten what the meta (or anything else for that matter) says I should play.

for PvP warrior. no doubt
for PvE i can’t decide between the thief and guardian…

Love the ranger despite all of its flaws (pets) and shortcomings (condi cleanse).
Ranger.

I settled on the Engineer eventually. I flip-flopped a lot before that because the hazy role definition and zergy encounters made it kind of hard to find my groove.
Order of preference
1. mesmer
2. ranger and elementalist
3. guardian and engineer
4. warrior
5. necromancer and thief
Revenant. Used to be Mesmer.
Ele for life. Dervish in GW1.
Paragon in GW1, Necromancer in GW2
Restore that which was lost. And all shall be as one.”
Thief is easily my favorite class
Necro since GW1.
Proud member of the Blackgate community.
Mesmer > all other classes. Chronomancer > mesmer > all other classes.
/s
Well everything, but engineer…
I also like the berserker, the reaper, the chronomancer and the druid (though the druid needs some big improvements), I leveled an engineer for scrapper though
I didn’t try the herald, tempest, dragonhunter or the thief elite spec.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.
Ranger.
Message Body length must at least be 15.
HAHAHHAHA…someone main a monk.
it is a tie between Engineer Mesmer and thief.
Necromancer has been a personal favorite of mine.
Thief.

Ele started off as my main and favorite but it has since changed to Guardian. In my last MMO I played as a cleric – the class most responsible for keeping everyone alive and for the success (or failure) for any group adventure. I personally find Guardians to be the closest thing to playing the role of a cleric in the sense that they have the potential to provide the most/best group support. Nothing feels more satisfying than successfully helping my party through a difficult encounter thanks to timely heals, blocks, reflects, pulls, blinds, etc.
Thief, necro, Ele.
Ranger.
I play almost exclusively solo by choice. That can be problematic since mobs tend to like getting up close and personal. With my pet, I can generally avoid fighting toe-to-toe and still take on pretty much everything the game has tossed at us. We’ve even taken on mobs that are 5-6 levels above my own. Usually successfully. Usually.
I have several alts, most of whom are rangers. My highest ranger ding’d 78 just yesterday. My one exception alt is a warrior; she’s only level 2. Did I mention I don’t like fighting toe-to-toe? That probably explains her low level. /wink
I haven’t done any dungeons yet. I’m not motivated by having the “best” build or the “best” gear. The build I have and the gear I have are enough to get the job done.
I also don’t do PvP or WvW. Those sorts of playstyles don’t appeal to me in the least (but more power to those of you for whom those styles are enjoyable). Perhaps that’s where the warrior would shine, but for now, for me, for the way I like to play, it’s ranger all the way.
Necromancer for pretty much all the reasons listed above by others. It was my main in GW1 and is my main in GW2. The class is a lot more versatile than people think and I don’t give a kitten what the current flavour of the month profession is. I love the ability to support, damage and tank, something that the profession could do in the first game too.
dragons, I sometimes wonder if we’ll ever find a way to save us from ourselves.”
Necromancer has been my favourite since launch. Love it to bits.
Since others included it, in Gw1 I loved my assassin.
Is there any other profession than Engineer?
In order of top to bottom:
1. Engineer
2. Ranger
3. Warrior
4. Guardian
5. Thief
6. Revenant
7. Necromancer
8. Mesmer
9. Elementalist.
Yeah, I don’t like silk professions much, and prefer ‘practical’ professions over fancy magickers.
I’m an elementalist by nature (no pun intended). Nothing else clicks for me like ele.
So far my favorite is necromancer…haven’t try guardian and engi yet
Revenant, ele/necro
Engie = Flamethrowers = Love.
that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

Engie = Flamethrowers = Love.
^^^
Since the first Gw2 Beta I got to try over 3 years ago I knew right away that Engi was my go to class. Played with the flamethrower that day and said to myself “this, this is the one!”
Usually in these types of games I am the mage or Ele so if Engi was not here I would probably have gone to ele. But then again in GW1 my faves were Paragon/Ranger and Ranger is my sec fave here and next would be guardian. So…..
But in the end all that matters is ENGI, now where’s my Tommy Gun!?
i want the Engi to be my main class tho i dont have any yet…i need someone to teach me how to play Engi correctly at PVP, is a mess for me..so many skills, Elementalist is incredible easy if you think how many skills the Engi have to use x_x
Guardian was my first creation and my first love
Necromancer.
I thought I was going to switch over to loving Revenant more with HoT, but then the Reaper happened.
For the OP engineer all the way kinda sad there are many engi mains in here

It was tough to start out on engi. The kits were confusing to understand, as it is like having 4 other weapon sets, the best recommendation I can give is head on over to Wolfineer and look up his PvP builds.
For when scrapper comes out in HoT you will want to use power hammer, I was unstoppable when I dove into PvP and was the most fun I’ve had in PvP (Hardcore PvE here)
Or feel free to message me about builds or strategies if you see me online, I love training new engineers to take over the world!
I am loving my Ranger.
In order of preference, including Elite Specializations as separate professions because they are very different from the originals:
1. Herald
2. Chronomancer
3. Revenant
4. Mesmer
5. Warrior
6. Reaper
7. Dragonhunter
8. Guardian
9. Necromancer
10. Elementalist
11. Ranger
Anything not on this list I have not significantly played enough to have an educated opinion
“Beware he who would deny you access to information,
for in his heart he dreams himself your master.”
I struggle atm pretty hard with that question. I main engineer since day 1… but i cant say that im happy anymore with the class. Traitlines are a mess… class visuals are bad, especially now after the general visual nerfs and even after the kit visual changes..especially the bomb kit but also the other kits… lvl 5 rifles look more impressive then the ELITE KIT. Also the general armor weight class is horrible ugly and does not offer many mechanical looking designs cept maybe 2 or 3 sets…and no i dont count outfits, they can go and screw themselfes with these darn things, especially painfull if you wanna play a dirty stereotype (charr engineer), the elite spec is uninspired and doesnt offer much (for me) besides the hammer what might be very awesome but i still regret making the juggernaut legendary, also i dont like a.i besides turrets…and even these things are for me just blast finishers with remote switch and usually helpfull side effects. Also constant nerfs and supposed “buffs” destroyed so many of my handmade non meta builds and nerfing in general got most of the time no ryhme or reason for me. 28% mortar aa nerf? The med kit changes? You insane a-net? Why do you even bother giving engineers a mortar in the first place if you dont want em to use other ranged kits then stupid nades? Also what the hell is the med kit supposed to be? Group support? Yeh.. right. Every way i look at engineer right now is frustrating to me.
To come to a point.. i wish i could say engi is still my fav…but right now i got no fav..what actually saddens me.
1. Elementalist (+ tempest)
2. Engineer (+ scrapper)
3. Reaper
4. Chronomancer
6. Revenant
5. Daredevil
7.8.9. Warrior/Ranger/Guard
My first character was a thief, then I bounced around until I hunkered down on a necromancer for a while.
Right now I main a revenant and it’s the most fun I’ve had in this game.
So, Revenant…final answer.
Ranger.
Versatile, has a good all round party support / buff, great for solo’ing and occasionally the pet replaces stubborn and bad players
Yeah, it’s hard to pick just one favorite.
I play my Engineer, Warrior, and Necromancer the most, so I guess those are my favorites.
But I have all the professions and regularly play them all. I like each one for a different reason.
GW1 Mesmer, followed by GW2 Mesmer/Chronomancer, followed by Dragonhunter.
guardian is my fav. I love to play balanced characters in this game and i feel like i achieved to do just that with my guardian.
My 2nd fav would be either ele,or thief,
I love the things i can do with stealth in pve but i also love the versatility with the elementalist.
