nevermind the cost to make stuff once you get to 500, I’m wondering just how much it’ll cost to get from 400 to 500.
the first like 25 can be done by refining ori, but there isn’t exactly level 90 gear recipes to discover. going by previous trends, you should be able to get to 450 by crafting like 200 rare or exotic items. after that, you’d have to craft the things you would of discovered above level 400. not even the rares and exotics you make at 400 should contribute exp above 450.
and this will also be the prerequisite to making precursors!
choose wisely

The sucky part is that you did not get experience for any discoveries after you hit 400. If you are a lvl400 weapons smith and already discovered all your exotic weapons…, gratz, you could have had 10-15 levels right there.

I hope that they take this into account and reward an amount of crafting experience based on the discovered recipies you have for level 400.

The blog post stated that new crafting materials will be added. You can probably assume that they’re tier 7 in rarity and quality. This could mean that getting to 500 would be really difficult and time consuming but it would mean that tier 6 materials will actually become more common to balance things out. I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions based on limited information.

As for crafting things at 400. It does suck that everything you’ve made won’t contribute to your getting to 500. That doesn’t mean you should stockpile all your mats until the patch with the crafting level increase hits. All gear you make will benefit you in the long run. Of course, there are other ways of obtaining exotic gear right now like through dungeons and karma.

At least I’ll finally have some use for the bucketloads of crafting boosters I keep getting.

lol, yeah. I have like 15 crafting boosters that are 100% useless atm.
the annoying part, for me, is such:
ascended focus = artificing
ascended sword and greatsword = weaponsmith
ascended bow = huntsman
ascended exalted armor = tailor
ascended emblazoned armor = leatherworker
ascended draconic armor = armorsmith
and I’m lucky to only have 2 alts! (ranger, mesmer, guardian) account bound ascended = … can’t buy
at least I’ll be able to use all the boosters in the end.

Did you know you can max all crafting professions on one character?

I’m sure no one objects to having to pay 40 silver every time they wish to switch to an alternative crafting profession from the two current active ones. Please note, assuming the switching fee cost remains unaltered, this will increase to 50 silver when reaching the new max of 500.
