What kind of armor do you like?
I like armor with special effects like the CoF light armor does for Charr. It gives them a flaming tail. My personal opinion? HoTW ice tail, Twilight arbor plant whip tail. That would be sick.
Sorry, kinda want more charr armor xD or at least charr armor that looks right…

I forgot about that! xD i like some special effects on my armor too (legendary armor anyone?) i specially like Asura cultural armor, if my norn could wear that, would look like a character from TRON xD
I like very basic, casual-looking armor, such as HoTW chest and pants, or a majority of Medium Armor.
Light armor is too whacky for my tastes.
Agree with OP. I like metal, and I want metal options for all classes.
Space Marine Z [GLTY]
Sylvari themed sets all the way!
I make PvP & WvW videos
I want more kitten revealing armor, especially for medium, especially for males.
non clipping armor.

The sylvari t3 light armor is quite the site to see on my male necro, however I hate the “skirt” leaf legging so I use the karma ones from Cursed Shore. For my shoulders I use the t2 sylvari, because the t3 shoulders are far to flamboyant on a male IMO. Overall though the set does merit attention, as for medium and heavy I am sure they are equally impressive but as I don’t wear them I cannot judge.
New armor. Used armor once it gets sweaty and dirty can get repulsively smelly.
In game I prefer armors that look somewhat realistic in function. Massive spikes and levitating shoulder armor is not my thing.
I would like to see some stylistic spread between armor classes, i.e. light armors that look like lighter versions of leather garb, medium armors with perhaps a cuirass, etc.
non clipping armor.
this is the only valid answer
non clipping armor.
would be cool, but is actually pretty hard to achieve, there is allways gonna be some clipping… either that, or your char’s movements would have to be limited to avoid clipping, which seems kinda hard
I adore the duster-coat + hat look of medium armor.
non clipping armor.

They should ask cd project red for that cuz the witcher 2 perfected clipping issues. But hey, we’re talking about gw2 here, the game that doesn’t even resize swords properly and 1/4 of the sword goes under ground when stowed… not in many games and certainly not big budget ones you’ll see that much fail.

true that, i don’t mind some ground clipping if it means having bigger weapons though xD also, that issue could be fixed by carrying 1h weps on your back, looks pretty darn cool too xD
In every MMO game, I try to look like this:

Why? Because War from Darksiders is the coolest looking character I’ve ever seen.

I know that it is hard to archieve (giving everything hitbox etc.) but still I’d want that kind of armor , especially on charr

Arah heavy armor for me. I just love how it looks on Asura. Although, helm sucks.
Light: Robes, but metal parts like shoulderpads or chestplate are cool.
Medium: Any nothing too generic leather armour works.
Heavy: Chainmail / Plate armour, some cloth parts.
In general, I don’t like anything that looks too generic or realistic, but I don’t like anything too flashy either. Something in between is good for me.
Extremely impractical armor that tends to be a trope in fantasy games.

I would like to see more pants or shorts for light armor for both male & female, i have 2 norn female characters that wear light armor & for the most part i dislike skirts so pants would be good.
Also some thing like this would be nice for light armor
(edited by kinnat.3701)
All things Asura
I don’t like when theres too much cloth on the heavy armor. Ofc it doesn’t have to be made only of metal but there should be more metal than cloth. I like only one medium armor – arah one. I like about 2 – 3 robes and 10+ heavy armors. I personaly think that he heavy armors are way more amazing than light and medium in this game.
Always remember one thing – your opinion is your opinion not fact.
Light armor pants(without ANY sort of skirt) for female characters.
In general, I typically lean towards more believable armor sets myself. I hate spikes, and anything that sticks off really, and looks like it would be impractical to move in.
editable blank armor.
I likey dis one yesh
Oh wow, Now something like that I would definitely kill to have for my Guardian.
I also like more realistic type armour. Not that I don’t mind some flash, my engineer has CoF for instance, but would love to kit my male necro in something more like the medium sets, something that isn’t a robe. He’s going to be fighting dragons, some actual chainmail types for both light and medium classes would be of great help! Regardless of being the backline caster, something IS going to come into your melee range at some point. Might as well look as if you can take a hit.
Some decent pants for chicks would be nice
And every heavt helmet is terrible (except vigil)
The more revealing the better for females, yet also keeping them stylish and somewhat realistic.
I prefer realistic looking armor – though I’m fine with reasonable ornamentation. I dislike spikes, over the top particle effects, and revealing sets.
For light armor, I prefer pants over the dresses they call ‘robes’ in most MMOs. GW1 was a bit better than GW 2 at this. For medium, I actually like trench coat styles, Aylesbury this game could use more non-coat medium sets. For heavy, I like armies that incorporate some cloth and/or leather – not a fan of all metal from head to toe.
I don’t get why armor is class-restricted. Just let everyone wear whatever they want and suffer the penalties.
If you want your guardian to wear the light starter set, then go for it. Just don’t expect it to stop an arrow. Similarly if you want your ele to wear t3 plate… just don’t attune to air.
I would like to see some "battle Mage style armor for level 80. Right now all we have is can-can hose and scarves….
Closest thing this game has to it is the exotic acolyte armor…
or maybe the priory armor….
I like Realistic looking armor, dirty, scratched, old steel.Im disliking flamey types of armor, glowing armor, sparkling armor, armor with huge spikes etc.

Please bring back ritualist armors at least! They have the best armors in any MMO ive ever played.. I particularly miss this:

mummy look ftw!
Deaths Fear [Fear] / The Hardcore Caravan [HC]
Forum Warrior: Black Belt in Ninja Edits
I like to look demonic, and kitten! But i also like to GLOW. And leave awesome particle effects. The twilight legendary is the coolest thing ever with that effect it leaves under your feet when you walk.
Game needs more legendary items, and ascended/legendary armor and ill be content with all the content in the game.

Ooooooooh… Me Likey too =)
[CVA] has spread from Eve Online to GW2!
“For The Toast”
I recently picked this one up for my Male Norn Warrior:

Makes me look like a football player (though I run it sans helmet as per my character creation choice). I am currently trying to color it to match my favorite football team.

Sylvari themed sets all the way!
I love my Sylvari armor. Tier 2 chest is weird with the “wings” though.
I also really like the Norn cultural armor. It is definitely the best looking imo.
Also loved the Ritualist armor in GW1. And the Mesmer armor in GW1. Only thing that looks even remotely close to that in game is some of the human armor and the masquerade set which has a lot of elements I can’t stand to it. lol
Would be nice to see some more metal looking stuff, or dyes that look more metallic. But I dunno if that would fit too much for the game. But I do know a lot of the heavy armor can have a tendency to look painted at the moment.
And we need more toned-down light armor like the heritage set imo. Male light wearers deserve more pants; Hell so do the females:
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Elementalist_Ancient_armor
I like a lot of the heavy armor in this game. A nice mix of full on metal with cloth & leather straps, skin exposed, etc. They look good on both genders and all races.
The cloth armor looks great…on females. There are very few masculine cloth armor sets. Most are robes. I wear cloth (jeans, polo shirt, etc) every day and I don’t look like a dude wearing chic’s clothing.
Medium armor needs some work. They look good, what’s out there, but there’s just to much trenchcoat action. Also, the female heavy & light armors have some pretty sexy options, but the only medium female sexy option is human T3. I think that we need more razzle-dazzle on our medium armors, rather than I skinned a deer and wrapped this around my legs and look a leather trenchcoat!
The cultural armors are pretty fantastic. They’re unique and have enough flair to make them pop but not so much to make them un-masculine. They’re wonderful. Take design notes from these when you eventually expand on the armor.

Since I play an Engineer, it would be nice to have a happy medium when it comes to coat length. Most coats seem to go all the way down to my shoes. If they don’t go down that far, then it just covers half my boob— yes I play a Human Female. Extreme in one end or extreme in the other … seems to be my only choices.
Personally, I’d go for something like the Sorrow’s Embrace armor but without the metal sides attached to the bottom of the coat. The Ascalonian Catacombs armor seems to be another practical one.
I am Fleeting Flash, in-game dungeon cosplayer of Reddit Refugees [RR] .
I like normal looking stuff, and heavily dislike alot of special effects(like in legendaries, only nice looking effect comes from juggernaut, rest are shiet).
This game isn’t exactly gritty fantasy setting with realistic armor but for the most part they have done it pretty well and i am pleased. I just hope they tone down the legendary effects(footprints especially, and wtf is it with the frigging unicorn bow?!)
and im also hoping this games armor will never go too asian :P
The only japanese type of armor ive liked so far comes from Berserk

If you picked a female character with medium armor, and you do NOT like trenchcoats, your options are rather limited.
The looks of many of the high tier armor and weapons is totally over the top to me. I prefer not-over-the-top armor and weapons.
“non clipping armor”
That to. Mix-and-match often does not work well because of minor clipping issues.
“is actually pretty hard to achieve,”
Certain pieces obviously can not be made so that they do not clip, but beyond that it’s really a matter of attention to detail with designing the mesh and with vertex weighting. But attention to detail = time, and time = money.
I really like the human tier 1 heavy armour, although the shoulder pad is on the wrong shoulder and the trousers need a separate dye slot. They need to be a different colour to the mail.
The reason I like it?
It’s one of the most realistic armour sets, and unlike the vast majority of heavy armour, properly protects the neck.
For similar reasons, I like the Vigil and Banded sets, and the Vigil helmet is probably the best in the game.
Overall though, I think they could learn a thing or two from the Souls games regarding how armour looks.
Oh, and I can’t stand the glowy, OTT stuff you see most people wearing. It’s gaudy and lacks fine detail; seriously, next time you get the chance, check the textures on CoF gear; they’re really badly stitched and smudged.
Another set I really like, after umm-ing and aah-ing for ages over how my Mesmer should look, is the starter set, Acolyte’s gear. There’s a lot of subtle, gorgeous incidental detail that you don’t see with over-saturated dyes and that only reveals itself in certain lighting conditions. The wider stripes on the legs have an almost invisible paisley pattern, which is also repeated on the arms.
While I await a more Thespian style look, this appearance will suit me fine.
Oh, and Sylvari medium tier 3, Caithe’s set, is my favourite medium set in the game, although only really appropriate for Rangers or Thieves.
Seriously, why is there no medium set that looks distinctly Engineery?
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
Can I get skimpy male armor please ? They are so prude that there is an armor hiding the left nipple on an heavy armor. Come on ANet, female armors are super skimpy. It’s sexist.
Skimpy armor is my favorite.
Heavy, light, medium—-that doesn’t matter. Skimpy armor trumps everything.

non fuistis, vere non estis et eritis numquam.
In response to this I will be drawing some potential arnors.
What would you guys think of class specific armors? An idea I had was elementalist armor that could change color with the element in use. For example: Sylvari glow could change, and Charr tails could glow red, greeb, blue, and purple depending on the element, humans and Asura could get glowing eyes and hands, Norn tattoos could glow the element color.
Im also going to draw some engi armor with moving gears wiTh moving gears and pistons and steam. Maybe some ranger armor that changes what animal it looks like by what pet you have out…
Okie, sometimes I get a bit carried away but are these decent ideas?
