What new class…
Deaf players are not amused by your idea.
Jokes aside. I’ve been working on a concept for a shapeshifter class.
Will post when I finish. Not in this thread tho, it’s going to be a few weeks.
Lv80s: Guard, Thief, Necro. Renewed my Altaholic’s card on the HoT Hype-Train. Choo choo~
(edited by DreamOfACure.4382)
Well, it’s a shame that you won’t post as this is only for generalized concepts but I hope you’ll link me to it. Shapeshifting is always fun.
Class Name: Tactician
Class Type:Heavy
Weapons of choice:
sword mainhand/offhand
dagger offhand
axe mainhand/offhand
shield offhand
General gist/ miscellaneous:
The class mechanic is that for each weapon combo they have an offensive and defensive stance which they can switch to . These stances not only give you different skills but depending on the stance the chance to buff you (such as stability for X seconds ) or the chance to add/extend a condition for X seconds
Class Name: Minstrel/Bard (:D yes bringing back the prank)
Class Type: Medium (maybe light?)
Weapons of choice: Lute (2h), Sword (mh only), Warhorn, Shield, Dagger (mh only) [?] {also the lute would be a new weapon, because with expansions come new wepaons right? :p}
General gist/ miscellaneous: They are magical musicians that use their wonderful music to enhance the abilities of their allies while depriving their enemys’. Thier class specific function would be to pull out a harp (somewhat like a deathshroud form except they are go into a musical state) and F1 – F4 are 4 different strings each with a different sound and when played in a certain order, they can do totally different effects. Example, A, C, D, B would give quickness to allies and stun to foes. Where as B, A, D, C would create a wave of music notes to AoE hit all enemies within a certain radius of you
open to debates on this idea lol
Class Name: Martial Artist… not real picky on actual name
Class Type: Medium
Weapons of choice: Staff, Nunchaku, Unarmed and a Chakram for ranged…
General gist/ miscellaneous:
Would simply be a Martial Artist… one of the Utility skill branches would obviously need to be Grappling so there was some CC available.
Instead of a weapon swap, could also possibly do this class such that it mirrored the Elementalist. All the ‘attunements’ would be variations of skills (karate, mui tai, kickboxing…) and instead of weapons like the staff or nunchaku let the fourth attunement be Chakra based skills for ranged attacks.
Most Ele’s complaints are all based about how they can’t change range when fighting because there’s no weapon swap, so having three melee arts and a ranged one just makes sense to me.
This! A hodge podge graphic showing a possible druid type class. XD

I wanted to see something similar in this game, but the way you suggest it would result in my eyes rolling out of my head and my groan of frustration to cause seismic activity if implemented.
An unarmed and lightly-armored fighter? Fine. An unarmed and lightly-armored fighter with obvious East Asian influences? Please—no more—I can’t take it.
Of course, that’s just me. If any sort of unarmed combatant profession is implemented, it’s going to be with the goofy flourishes, dopey posturing, with some kind of bullshido-style pseudo-magic created specifically for that profession.
And on that day, I will put my head through a wall.
a)Golemancer. Nuff said.
There is enough in the lore to build easily on that idea, if they were so inclined. Could work pretty well, half of the skills revolve around ordering/controlling for golem “pet” while kiting safely away (ranger style) …the other involve riding the actual golem (warrior tank style)
Maybe an adrenaline bar like the warrior before you may ride it, I don’t know. If the fundamental idea sounds good enough to Anet, I’m sure they could find a way to make it work.
b)Shapeshifter could be great fun, might be a pain with the different races to animate but Anet could do it if they were so inclined.
c) the martial artist sounds cool too, but the monk profession (sorry if im over simplifying your idea) has been seen in many mmos and many fail to deliver the Bruce Lee experience that we all really understand by “monk” so it’s probably not a good idea in the long run…even if the concept rocks
d) Mentalist (or something like that, I cannot think of a good name for this)
Kinda of the opposite of the mesmer. While the mesmer tricks his enemy through clones, the Mentalist tricks his enemy’s mind. He could turn one member of a mob against the others, he could make himself appear “invisible” to a specific mob while actually still being visible to the rest of the world, he could mind warp (stun/daze whatever effect).
Basically a purer CC class that instead of tricking the aggro….controls it more directly.
Or something like that…whatever xD
@ Adine:
Seems like a branching off of the warrior idea with stances. However, a manipulation of skills through switching “modes” (acting like a partial third weapon swap button) is both intuitive and creative. I like this!
@Johnny Boy
I can see it now, Lute Necromancers and their songs of death. Brilliant. The function keys being the weapons actually does sound interesting however I feel that plays too much off of the elementalist and their attunement swap. Playing notes to create effects is also creative too.
@Bvhjdbvkjf
I have to agree with Maligne on all points. I do like the sound of a warrior class with a staff though. Warriors power through, Guardians are magically buffed, and the idea of a medium class that is warrior-like but far more nimble works well too. Of course, that creates a drastic similarity with the ranger who has both the sword and greatsword.
@Groovy
1)This game has Golemancers already, it needs to happen!
2)Tonics from Black Lion Chests, enough said.
3)Agreed. Those classes become more of a tool than a weapon.
d)Actually, that’s a great concept. I don’t know if it could stand on its own though seeing as it is pretty similar to the Mesmer class based on your description. Basically, we turn their own damage against them, something a Mesmer already does quite well.
Great thoughts guys, I never would have come up with some of this. I hope some developer takes a look at this thread one day and at the very least gets minor inspiration..
just asking – there could be new classes in this game? or you are just asking? – i mean – in guild wars 1 – there was a new class? or you suggesting the game producers will do somthing with that?
*i mean professions not classes
How about a class based from the Final Fantasy Dragoon class (Lancer?). I’d like to have a heavy armor class that uses lances/spears/tridents on land and can jump in and out of combat quickly.
It would be sort of a combination of a warrior/guardian and a thief in concept. Good burst damage by jumping in to combat with jump abilities and some magical support (either offensive or defensive).
Possibly have a drake or something as pets?
If anyone have any ideas on how to expand on this idea feel free th share
(edited by Petrichor Rains.5147)
I would like to see a Chronomancer like they had decided against in Guild Wars1. A caster who controls time? That’s my type of profession!
We are sworn together by our blood…
Bard class…
Like from EQ or DAoC…
Special Attack: El KaBong. Hits the target with his lute. The word “KA-B0NG!” shows up.
This Bard can play the Bag Pipes, Tuba, Ka-Zoo or the dreaded Accordion. Also he can sing off key driving the enemy away in a AOE CC attack.
www.graystatemovie.com its coming if you like it or not.
(edited by Raffie.7865)
@Eladoni
I imagine if they release an expansion (and I’m using if quite loosely there) they’d have a new class. This is to just toss ideas. Where else would you get content the player would enjoy than the player him/herself?
@Petrichor
Warrior Thief? Forgive my saying so but that sounds incredibly over powered. I do like the idea of spears and tridents being used above land. Poor harpoon gun, left in the “wake” of its companions.
@xCrusadentx
How would that work if we already have a Mesmer’s Time Warp or many other skills with quickness? Sure, that isn’t exactly controlling time itself but it leaves a lot of open questions.
@Raffie
Glad to see I’m not the only one who likes music though I’m a tad saddened people keep gravitating towards this one idea of a music class instead of trying to branch out a bit. It’s not wrong, just disappointing.
Keep it up everyone.
i think if a bard type class were to make a return its mechanic would have to be chants and echos like the Paragon from GW1 had .
Likey weapons would be
Sword main
Shortbow
dagger offhand
shield
pistol main
focus
and of course be a medium class
For a very different Bard weapon I think the whip (an other variations, cat of 9 tails, steel whip, ect…..) would be interesting.
@Cosmic Afro
How about a Sumo/Samurai class.
Hows that for different.
www.graystatemovie.com its coming if you like it or not.
Sumo would be impossible just on body type . As for Samurai it might be addable in a Canthan EP but seeing as Samurai served a master im not sure how fitting it would be .Im not entirely sure how a Samurai would differ from your standard Guardian or Warrior though as they were the Japanese version of a Knight .
This game does kind of lack the druid… And that fits into his shapeshifting idea
First, thanks to a forum moderator for moving this. I guess “Suggestions” wasn’t entirely the right place and I apologize for having it there.
@Raffie
The only problem is if you introduce one weapon, it would need to be shared by at least one other class. I think Rifle and Longbow are the only two weapons with two class users? That’s off the top of my head but I imagine you get my point. It’s not as if you couldn’t add a steel whip, but who else would use it?
And Samurai may not be able to hold up so well given the warrior and/or guardian’s mechanics. Adine makes a valid point on that term. As for it being new? If I wanted to play as a Samurai, I’d go play a Samurai game. Unless I’m mistaken (because I saw this a while ago), there’s already a katana-like greatsword available.
Maybe fix up the ones we already have ? then make new ones.. imagine new class. + 100 bugs into game:D
@FLFW
That’s true with anything. Wintersday has had some bugs, Lost Shores definitely had a few…
but I agree, fix current issues first. I’ve seen some promising bug patches for classes but according to the class-specific subforum, there’s still a lot that needs fixing. I haven’t particularly noticed any issues with a class myself.
Class name AwesomeestLeetNinjaAstronaut
Class type Awesomest
Weapon SuperNinjaGunz
General Gist Being good and bringing da awesomeest
I think this class has the awesomeest, it would also have gunz for armz and springy gadget 1337 legs
This post was bought to you by sarcasm
War dad KISS Guardian
I like the Bard too
Class Name: Bard or Musician
Class Type: Medium
Weapons of choice:
-Flute 2 hands
-Harp main hand
-Guitar main hand
-Sword offhand
-Focus Offhand
-Shortbow
Whip 2 hands or 1 hand
General gist/ miscellaneous: Bards traveling through Tyria singing about the great heroes, war and hope. Bards can use their music ability to weaken enemies while assisting their allies.
Do not be fooled by its fragile appearance, they are more dangerous than many other.

Forget about new classes, anyone else miss having a second profession like in gw1?
I have been wanting some sort of battlemage. A heavy armor class that plays more like a scholar profession. Guardian is kind of there but it plays more like a magic based melee characters rather than the battlemage I was thinking about.
Drexion Miasma – Human Necromancer/ Rryzer Blackpowder – Charr Engineer/
Xoorx – Asura Mesmer
Forget about new classes, anyone else miss having a second profession like in gw1?
I prefer new classes make some fresh skills and gameplay to game and i love leveling new chars.
But second profession is good too. :P
Class Name: Morpher
Class Type: Unknown
Weapons of choice:All
General gist/ miscellaneous:
A morpher is class type that can morph between different classes. They can morph into a warrior and deal lots of damage – a.k.a. Exo-Morph. When faced with near-death or willing to help out their comrades, they can turn into a guardian with healing and defensive power – a.k.a. Endo-Morph. For tackling enemies from afar and using their surrounding they can morph into a state between both Exo and Endo-Morph – a.k.a. Poly-Morph.
History:
They were once loyal servants of the gods. However, by obtaining free-will, in many it created desires which were beyond what gods have intended. Hence, they were forced to roam the world of Tyria. There are some testaments made by the gods that relate them to the Giganticus Lupicus’ (a.k.a. True Giants).
During their time in Tyria they tried to create their own vision of gods. As did the original gods give them free-will so have the True Giants passed it on to their own creations – the dragons. On one occasion the True Giants creations’ turned against them. Forseeing their possible mistake, however not being able to destroy their creation, they could only encapsulate them into a coma-bubble.
Decades would pass untill by the True Giants free-will and loneliness, they would awaken them with the hope that their gods would not destroy them – albeit no hope was left this time. Once again the True Giants would try to put their gods to sleep, however, by using up most of their energy to do this they would not only annihilate most of their kind, but would be incarnated into what was left of their entities energy.
Thus they are called The Morphs.
Do not click this link!
Chronomancer class that was supposed to come out with the canceled GW1 expansion called Utopia.
Even better there should be duel professions in the game like GW1 as well
It’s sounds as if many want a “Bard” or a class that has something to do with shapeshifting. It also seems that people want another heavy class. Interesting.
This game does kind of lack the druid… And that fits into his shapeshifting idea
I would like to see a druid shapeshifter.
Or a blood drinking vampire.
Class Name: Priest
Class Type: DPS/Buffer
Weapons of choice: Christmas event Bell/Sacred Book/Holy Cross (2 handed)
Armor: Chasubles, Copes, Stoles, Dalmatics and Tunicles, Mitres.
General gist/ miscellaneous: Buffs himself and players aorund him by praying, slashes foes with Bell, Sacred Book or Holly Cross. Levitation skill to do all the new Super Mario puzzles easily. Choir Maestro skill to beat all the new Guitar Hero instances.
Class Name: Void Knight
Class Type: Heavy
Weapon of Choice: Dual Wield Axe/Scepter
General: Focuses on manipulating friendly/enemy positions, constraining enemy movement, and concealing friendly positions to grant a strategic advantage.
Example skills:
Void Rift: Create a rift in space time, all friendly and enemy units that move close enough to the void rift are sucked in and removed from the world for the duration. Players stuck in the void rift cannot be damaged.
Swap: Void knight swaps position with target enemy player and gains quickness for 4s.
Tesseract Nova: All friendly and enemy players within a 600m radius are teleported to the void knight’s position and the void knights gains protection for 5s.
Wall of Twilight: The void knight creates a large wall with the apperance of the night sky obscuring the vision of both friendly and enemy players. For each enemy player that passes through the wall the void knight is crippled for 5s, and for each friendly player that passes through the wall the void knight gains swiftness for 5s.
Yeah the class is probably OP as kitten and would be excellent for trolling, but I would ditch my guardian for it in 2 seconds.
It’s sounds as if many want a “Bard” or a class that has something to do with shapeshifting. It also seems that people want another heavy class. Interesting.
Well the Bard class has been a popular one since D&D introduced it but the traditional bard wouldn’t fit in GW . Shapeshifters are problematic with balance ,all you have to do is look at the Dervish to see the issues with that .
Pirate.
Main: Pistol, Sword, Axe
Off-hand: Dagger, Pistol, Warhorn (drinking horn), Hook, Voodoo doll.
Skills: Fire booze breath, Mugging, Dirty fighting (blinds and stuff), Drunk Mode/stance, says Avast Matey alot, Parley (Makes he unattackable and cannot attack), Powder kegs. Cause enemies to mutiny amongst themselves. Curses.
Has his own pet (parrot, monkey, snake, kraken) that is attached to the pirate unless its using an ability (throw kitten eye pecking)
When he goes downed state he takes off his peg leg and beats people with it.
Like the new Profession ideas. Not so much new weapons (unless the classics get to use them as well). Maybe new weapons should be a ‘Profession mechanic’ or some ‘skill’ like an engineer kit.
Class Name: Cavalier
Class Type: Heavy
Weapons of choice: Sword, Pistol, Torch (OH), Dagger (OH), Polearm (making the assumption they would be put into the game)
General gist/ miscellaneous: If a new profession is to be added it makes sense to have a third heavy class added to the game to even out the armour types with 3 each.
This profession would try to complement what is missing from the guardian and warrior, design wise being a more technical fight (akin to a fencer) that the others. While warriors have high vit and guardian have many mitigation/healing options a cavalier would have more ways to avoid damage through blocks and greater mobility than the other heavy armour users (though obvious balance would be needed, this is not a heavily armoured thief).
The profession mechanics for this Cavalier class would be “forms” or stances, which would work similar to elementalist attunements but without the skill changes (as Cavalier would be able to weapon change). Three forms/stances would be Dueling Form – gain retaliation and might on all blocks. Striking Form – increased precision and crit damage. Fleeting Form – Increased endurance and gain protection on evade.
This could also be suited to the idea of a duelist, which would be a medium class.
As for the polearm, well I do think they are missing from the game (spears only being an underwater choice was an interesting decision). Of course it wouldn’t be a weapon for just one profession, I’d make warriors, engineers and rangers all able to use polearms as well.
Class Name: Chanter
Class Type: Light Armor healer/buffer/ranged dps
Weapons of choice: Longbow, shortbow, scepter, dagger (used as throwing knives), focus, shield, staff
General gist/ miscellaneous:
F1: Battle chant – might, fury, swiftness aoe 10s, 30s cd, combo field fire
F2: Rejuvenating chant – regeneration 10s, 30s cd, combo field light
F3: Harmonic chant – protection 10s, retaliation 10s, 30s cd, combo field ethereal
Inspiration mechanic: bar fills up (like warrior adrenaline) while the Chanter deals damage, etc
At level 1, chant F1 becomes usable
At level 2, chant F2 becomes usable
At level 3, chant F3 becomes usable
Each use of a chant drops inspiration bar by 1/3rd, at full inspiration all chants are usable at the same time, etc
Utilities are usual signets, glyphs, etc but also instrument summons which manipulate boons/conditions and musical fields which cause confusion and daze.
Assassin. Just take every reference from the profession in GW1.
Lead/Off/Dual attacks and the combinations you could pull off is what I miss most.
I’ll be disappointed if they don’t put the ritualist first before any other new profession.

Class: Admin
Type: Every type
Weapons: Everything (doesn’t matter though, see below)
General idea:
-1 to instantly kill something no matter what level/state/buff/skill it’s using.
-2 to instantly AOE kill everything no matter what level/state/buff/skill they are using.
-3 teleports you anywhere.
-4 automatically completes the Renown Quests.
-5 automatically completes Dynamic Event.
-Heal: Heal everyone in the Map 100% and clear all conditions. For every condition removed, players get 100% MF to promote more grinding. Only works in level 80 zones, cause honestly, who cares about the others areas. Stacks.
-Utility 1: Add all type of buffs to everyone in Map. Infinite duration.
-Utility 2: Buff X Class (Every week a new class. is chosen)
-Utility 3: Nerf Y Class (Randomly picks a class that’s not X).
-Elite: Places a new build of the game forcing everyone to restart. For every player that restarts their client, Admin class gains 1 gold.
The only downside, is this class doesn’t have any Traits.
(edited by iSmack.1768)
I know somebody already did a golemancer, but I want to show my own take on it.
Golemancer
Scholar class
The golemancer would be a pet using class, always having a golem out, similar to how Zojja plays. This golem would be customizable. Certain skills and even weapons would allow for the creation of more temporary constructs.
Stylistically, somewhat inspired after the golem academies found in Metrica province that participate in the arena as well as the idea of the eternal alchemy, that idea that even magic and science are cogs in the eternal machine, and like everything can mesh together for a common goal.
Class Mechanic
The principal method of customizing the golem (your class mechanic) is with your three utility bar skills. Each set of four utility skills will effect the golem differently depending on which skill slot you place it in. Utility skill one will decide the model used, which decides basic stats. Utility skill two will decide the principal method of attack and damage type. The third utility skill will decide principal method of defense and utility.
- Utility skill 1
Attack Series
Defense Series
Golemites (four)
Cubous golem
Research golem.
- Utility skill 2
Condition(fire) and Power Damage
Frost damage and disables
Condition(bleed) damage and blind
Power damage
Critical damage and chance
- Utility skill 3
Damage Buffs
Heals
Control
Evasion and Speed buffs
Shields
Utility skills
Umm… working on it…
Weapon skills
Uses Hammer(Ranged), Staff(melee), Mace MH/OH(ranged), Scepter MH(Mid Range) Focus OH(ranged support), Torch OH (Mid Range)
- Hammer
The hammer would be a ranged weapon with the golemancer. The animations would all involve striking the ground, which would then cause temporary constructs to erupt from the ground attacking your target.
Skill 1: Kinetic Construct- Strike the ground creating a hammer construct to carry your strike to the enemy
Skill 2: Rumble generator- Throw your hammer, it rumbles at the location it lands, Knocking down everyone in an AoE every 2 seconds for six seconds.
Skill 3: Tumble- Roll away from your enemy
Skill 4: Fumble- Knock your enemy away
Skill 5: Sentinel- Strike the ground, creating a sentinel that lasts seven seconds, when an enemy comes within range it strikes them to the ground.
- Staff
The staff is a melee weapon, allowing you to AoE at melee range similar to the daggers with the elementalist. It is principally air based.
Skill 1: Twister- Spin, creating a gust of air around you damage enemies at close range in all direction. Damage escalates with subsequent uninterrupted uses.
Skill 2: Static Generator- Strike your staff into the ground, it generates a static field which slows enemies and speeds allies ever 1.25 seconds for 7 seconds.
Skill 3: ?
Skill 4: ?
Skill 5: Compression Bomb- Place a bomb on a target ally or enemy, it explodes after three seconds dealing AoE damage.
- Mace
The mace is principally fire-inspired, and summons lil’ adorable machines to do your bidding, for those who want to go full-out pet build.
Skill 1: Bombling- Generate a tiny golem that seeks out an enemy and explodes, your target if you have one, whoever is nearest if you don’t. The bombling lasts 4 seconds unless it has a target.
Skill 2: ?
Skill 3: ?
//////////////
Skill 4: Boom Generator- Embed your Mace in to the ground, it generates a bombling every 2.5 seconds for 14 seconds. Bomblings last 4 seconds or until they find a target.
Skill 5: Diffuse- Add one second to a generators time. 2, 3, or 4 second CD depending on which generator is diffused.
Work in Progress
(edited by Conncept.7638)
Class Name: Trollmancer
Class Type: Adventurer (Medium) or Scholar (Light) not sure about this yet
Weapons of choice: Magnets, Cleverness
General gist/ miscellaneous:
The Trollmancer is a support-type class that uses Magnets and the Art of Trolling in order to confuse, annoy and fustrate opponents.
Sample Abilities
Magnetism: uses a magnet to pull enemies toward you, when used again it will push them away
u mad bro? The trollmancer insults a enemy causing it to charge at the troll with reduced movement speed for 10 seconds
Ragequit the trollmancer annoys an enemy so much that they ragequit for 5 seconds. While rage-quitted enemies cannot move, attack, or use abilities

There are currently only two heavy-armour classes in the game (three of light and medium), so my money’s on a new heavy class.
And people are always complaining there are no mounts, right? So, let’s go with:
Class Name: Beast Rider
Class Type: Heavy
Weapons: Lance/Spear (a new weapon, also usable by other classes), Axe, Longbow, Sword, Torch, Warhorn
General Gist: Basically, you have a handful of pet companions you can choose to bring into battle with you, similar to the Ranger’s pets — but you can mount each of them, for additional movement speed and charging attacks. Okay, that’s all I got.
How about get rid of the bugs from the existing classes? That’s what I would do before introducing new classes.
How about get rid of the bugs from the existing classes? That’s what I would do before introducing new classes.
This is not an official thread on anything being released, just player ideas on what they would like to see.
I do not understand why people feel the need to crap on every thread that isn’t whining about something.
Im surprised noone said shaman/witchdoctor yet. I think that would fit in nicely as there are plenty of mobs that are shamans already.
Some kind of battlemage class, heavy armored caster class would be nice.
And bard is a great idea as some suggested.
Maybe monk?
