What new weapons would you like introduced?
I’d like to see a crossbow for Rangers. Longer range than both bows, slower, but higher damage. It would be more of a sniper weapon.
Fist Wraps, for fast melee brawling
I know we already have swords, some of which come with a curved blade model, but I would still like to see something vaguely Katana-esque. Where the blade was on one side and very sharp and came to a point. Something that doesn’t look as heavy as the other two-handed blades.
Ideally I would like a class that uses only a katana-esque weapon. Partly because real life katana’s are meant to do some bleeding at least and the two handed warrior doesn’t do any with his attacks. However, that would be something for another expansion, so i must continue to dream.
I think we have a high number of votes for fist related weapons, punching stuff is cool lol. gauntlets, fist wraps, god hand, just throwing ideas around
Polearms could be good – halberds, naginata etc
Spears/Javelins (on land)
Other than that, I wouldn’t mind seeing some existing weapons opened up to other classes, with new abilities to match. For example, I like the idea that a Warrior could pick up pretty much anything and improvise with it to inflict some damage even though it isn’t necessarily appropriate to class (using a sceptre as a club or a staff as a quarterstaff rather than a ranged weapon). Might struggle to do this for all classes, I suppose…
Basically, I want my Warrior to dual wield knives please.

I think the closest like that is the whispers sword. But that’s more scimitar than katana
Scythes goes without saying.
But I see it more as localized weaponry based on expansion settings.
So Elona gets Scythes and spears.
Cantha probably gets something like Katanas and fist weapons.
The far north will have dwarven based weaponry, like maybe crossbows and 2h axes.

Or guns for ele! Pew pew fire and ice lasers
give me polearms and I’d be happy as a clam.
I’d rather see the current weapons being mixed more first. I would give the Ranger a rifle, the Thief a shield and torch, the Engineer a hammer and torch, the Elementalist a hammer and pistols, and so on. I have no idea what the skills should be, though.

Greataxes were already mentioned by a dev as “Expansion Material” in a reddit forum.
Here’s my list of likely weapons and a reason in ():
Greataxes (as mentioned before, of course)
Scythes (because GW1 had a class devoted to them)
Polearms (because underwater spears already exist)
Brawler/Fists (likely to be a class add…possibly a martial artist monk)
Crossbows (because its too much like the bow NOT to add)
Chainsaw (likely to be a main weapon in Engineer’s Power Tool Kit add)
Other than that, I don’t know if they would make it in the game because they’re hard to do…but I’d like to see Flails.
a blade attached to a long chain would be pretty cool i think. Like what the guy uses in the movie Ninja Assassin.
Dude, I searched before I created my thread but didn’t find yours! Anyways, the weapons I’d like to see added would be;
Melee
- Rapier – Main Hand Only
- Great Axe – Two Handed Weapon
- Long Sword – Main Hand or Two Handed Weapon (even if you equip an off-hand weapon, due to it’s size the 5th ability would still be associated to the long sword)
- Polearm/Halberd – Main Hand or Two Handed Weapon (perhaps the off-hand could be limited to a shield but it would have similar mechanics as a one handed long sword)
- Kite Shield – Off Hand Only (another type of shield would be neat)
Ranged
- Wand – Main Hand Only (alternative ranged weapon for scholar professions)
- Crossbow – Two Hand or Off Hand (could equip in main slot for a two handed weapon or use with another one handed weapon in the off-hand slot)
Underwater
- One handed swords, axes and daggers could still be used underwater. I can understand why the great sword or hammer wouldn’t be too effective but we could use a little more diversity beneath the waves (duel wielding options would be nifty as well).
EDIT IN: Some awesome responses in this thread. I’d like to add that whips, fist weapons, and scythes are great suggestions.

2H Great Axe…not sure why they left that one off. But the Norn race just needs big axes to complete the persona.

wand
crystal ball (OH)
broomstick
Slightly off-topic, but still very close to this subject, I’m wondering who else feels like you should be able to have the option to display both weapons on your character?
I realize that everything a character carries cannot be shown, but it IS easy enough to program the visuals for seeing both weapons you’re carrying, as well as perhaps a quiver for when bows are equipped. Just kinda funny seeing my Greatsword or Longbow disappear entirely; also, I fabricate arrows out of thin air haha.
This would also lend tactical information to players in PvP, about what sort of skills another player could counter their abilities with.
Again, I realize that everything cannot be shown visually (or everyone would be running around carrying huge back-packs; well, Engineer’s DO do that, I suppose), but it would be nice to at least see your weapons as well as things such as quivers for bow-wielding individuals.
Lastly, I’m 100% supportive of this sort of feature being optional, such as a simple option box to check/un-check in the General Options, for example.

Perhaps, seems like a fluff issue for the future. It would be cool to see all the weapons you have equipped rather than having them vanish.
Scythe (i guess will be implemented later on)
Whip (yes i agree Eles alredy have it, and looks fine. With a slight fine tuning )
Kama (for Thief and Ranger min)
kitten sword ( a Sword that can be used 1 and 2 handed. I think warriors would love it)
Crossbow ( cant understand why its not in the game? Its the most simple to use weapon)
-Due to lack of speed i guess repating crosbow, with an ammunition mechanic limited to like 20-30 and takes 1-2 sec to reload the magazine after that)
Polarm
Spear (why only underwater? )
Claw like Fist weapons- Katar (with 3 or single large blade)
Rapier (why arent mesmers using this instead of swords cant understand in first place)
Scimitar or Saber (Its a tipical wide range slashing weapon, cant be used to thrust.)
Flail (they are totally other fighting style then maces and have a longer reach)
Dirk (its a long blade dagger, should be used instead of dagger for necro to attack, and dagger (kris that is a sacrefical ornamented dagger ment for ceremony instead of fight)should be used for caster skills
Books, Bells, Incense holders and hand crossbows as ofhand items.
Shotgunhammer.
It’s a hammer but when you hit something, it shoots a slug.
Wammy.

Wammy.
What about Shotgun fist? like in fallout lol
I’d like to see 2 handed Axes, but not lumped in with spears like you mentioned. I know a Halberd has an axe blade on it usually, but I don’t think it would be good to lump them together. Just limits options for skills.
Fist weapons would be really nice. But I kind of foresee them doing an “asian themed” expansion in Cantha, and adding several weapon types from that. Like Fist weapons, Katana as a seperate type of weapon, Kunai or Kama, maybe even large shurikens (like Yuffie from FFVII).
They could also expand what classes can use what weapons. I really wish Mesmer could use Pistol mainhand. =p
Actual spears for melee combat
Scythes
But others already said those
kitten sword ( a Sword that can be used 1 and 2 handed. I think warriors would love it)
haha… I assume you don’t mean some sort of cat weapon, and just got hit by the profanity filter
I would love a bard-like class, or idea like that, where you support and have a lute or something like that and give ridiculous buffs to your team. They had that in LOTR and also in Final Fantasy. I really love how combos work in the game and a class that augments the play of combos/buffs even further would be off the hook
Fist Wraps, for fast melee brawling
Cestus. Also katar (katara/suwaiya).
More realistically, spears for out of the water use (both 1h and 2h versions would rule) and maybe great axes.
Already mentioned, but Scythes, Claws and Rapiers would be amazing.
No actualyl i used the word :B a skitten sword…..but seems there is a filter…..
I would say bladeguns, but wont fit the game. So i suggest no for that.
But i forgot 2 handed axes. As others also sead
Scythes, Chakrams, Polearms, Spears, Two-Handed Axes and others that I don’t know names.
i would like to see them add some kind of advantage of only having 1 wepon in a hand like faster attacks or somethin so you dont have to have 2 wepons equipted
Fan / Warfan (as main-hand weapon and off-hand shield or something like that).
Wouldn’t mind to have a Greataxe and Polearms! :P
Main hand torch (for engineer only, since only mainhand he can have with shield is pistol)
Melee staff (Bo-staff, like Aeris in FF7)
Dual wielding shields (JUST KIDDING!)
Everything else has been said already.
Let me have a spear/shield combination… and I’ll have everything I wanted.
Except… let my warrior wield a dagger or a rapier off-hand, mainly for blocking, duelist-style. That would be awesome.
(edited by Corvax.1675)
Automatic rifle for the engineer!
The weapon I would most like to see added is Battleaxe (2H axe) but there are many other good suggestions here as well.
A whip for my guardian would be sweet.
I would like some shuriken or throwing knives for my thief, it would be sooo rad.
- A sling would be a pretty awesome weapon, though it would be very hard to represent skins for different slings.
- A spear for land combat, slotted into the main hand only. If no offhand is equipped, it provides 5 skills; otherwise, it provides the standard 3 skills of a one-handed weapon. Potentially used as a ranged weapon by some classes, perhaps even used with an atlatl or woomera.
- Custom, never-before-seen weapons. Nothing so absurd as to be completely unusable, but perhaps a designer could come up with something remotely plausible that our world simply never thought up and built, but would fit Tyria’s theme perfectly.
As a Norn I want a sick-looking two handed axe.
Scythe – of course I could wait if it meant bringing dervishes back. Hope, hope.
Great Axe – my norn wants to chop things, BIG things.
Rapier – I agree, the mesmers would make much more sense using a piercing rather than a slashing sword.
Bo staff – a melee weapon as opposed to a magical weapon.
Orb or Crystal Ball – again mesmers would look great with something like this.
Mesmers need whips because… If I have to explain this I am going to get an infraction.

Chakrams, because it is cool to throw stuff that returns to you.
And you can do the Xena warcry and all that jazz if you wants.
I would like to see whips, clubs, fans, polearms, and tonfa. Thrown weapons like darts, knives, and chakrams would be nice too.
Yes, my thief would very much enjoy claw/katar weapons. Also, shortswords. Bigger than a dagger, smaller than a sword, great for a defensive offhand.
OH and Nunchaku. Because who doesn’t love nunchaku?
