Anet and GW2 developers have recently been discussing new content and an expansion in the works. After a lengthy discussion last night with a fellow guild member, we were speculating on what the new content may be. I am sure all of us have opinions on what that may be so let’s hear them. Here is my take.

MAP: I think new areas of the map will be slowly opened up with the using the Living Story. Areas of the map still not accessible to us but surrounded by areas that are will be used for Living Story arcs. This isn’t my brilliant deduction. I can’t take credit, this is my guildie’s insight and I think he is spot on.

RACE: I am certain a new playable race will not be to far in the future. My guess the first one would be the Tengu.

PROFESSIONS: After that lengthy discussion I had, I believe that there are really only two viable professions from GW1 that could return. Dervish – because their profession was based on the gods who have left. Such a big deal has been made of the gods disappearing, that I am sure that they will resurface some day and something like a dervish will make a debut. It would be a suitable third Warrior class. The other would be the Ritualist whose magic is not derived from the gods or from any other conventional magic. New professions are certainly a possibility as well.

EXPANSION: I believe the next expansion will probably be the Crystal Desert. There have been clues pointing to this. The Ring of Fire, Northern Shiverpeaks, Maguuma Jungle, and Charr Homelands are also good bets.

CANTHA and ELONA: Probably down the road someday. Elona would be first is my guess. It is just below the Crystal Desert. Cantha will happen too I believe, but much farther in the future. I think we may see other parts of the world first. If you have the chance to look at a large map of the WORLD of Tyria, it is huge. Tyria, Cantha, and Elona, don’t even scratch the surface of what could be out there.

In terms of items, I can see ascended being rolled out with it.

I’m sure more ascended stuff is on the way too.

I think 8 professions works really well. I would rather see more skills and new weapontypes than a new profession. I would still not complain if they decided to focus on a new profession. For races I think we’ll get to see Tengu before Kodan. And that expansion would probably come in a year from now. Not before. Only speculation ofcourse! As long as I don’t have to see Dredge-pcs in my party im happy!

We had a similar discussion in our guild as really no one enjoys the living story stuff more than getting the achievements. Its work not fun, so all of us look eagerly forward to an expansion. We had a discussion and voted, what we would like to have most in it.

24% got to more personal story parts. Those loose ends at lvl 20 as well as all new story parts have been mentioned.
21% of the votes went to new explorable max lvl areas. All but one in our guild don’t like the barren look and the always same foes of orr.
18% in equal parts have been spend on either new races and new classes. Those who like to twink can’t really wait to get their hands on it, and there is no player in our guild who does not like to twink
13% would be interested in new meaningful stuff to craft, be it optional looks, upgrades, enchantments or even crafting work orders/quests to do around the world.

The rest has been single vote stuff for dungeons, WvW and lower level areas. Some do like playing them with higher level chars still. As you can see, we (casual, not so casual and RP with about 20 people) are not the biggest fans of sPvP

We all agreed, we will get some new weapons for the existing classes anyway, so we did not vote on it. But every one, active or not would not hesitate to buy the expansion without waiting for reviews. So the game is still liked by everyone in our guild.
