What's that strange random sound?
Happens in Hoelbrek randomly, its like someone whacking a bucket and loud enough to lift me out of my chair. No audio settings seem to effect the volume of it either.
Ley lines. The perfect solution to deadlines and writers block. Now in an easy open Can.
I definitely don’t hear anything (from GW2) when the game is in the background.

I hear that a lot in Orr….when in game, and also when minimized….creeps me out sometimes!
Happens to me all the time. In dungeons, pve, in cityes. Guess is a audio bug which I have since the beta stage of the game.
This bug could be fatal for someone with bad heart and using headphones x)
Alter you sound quality to fix this (move the bar back and forth, it doesn’t actually have to change in the end). It’s not a sound in game, but more a sound from the game…if that makes any sense.
This also works for the siren sound, pet sounds, boot stomping sounds, combat sounds (when any of those sounds becomes unbearable to listen to).

I’ve had the sound affecting me since launch. It happens in many maps, including lion’s arch. I have full screen windowed mode, and when I alt tab out, the game audio mutes but this sound still happens!
At least they fixed the problem where I’d hear random voices in the game when no one was around.
The strange sound comes from HAARP
More than likely, its a pet.
Jellyfish make loud sounds as do polar bears.
I think the siamoth do it too. It’s loud and annoying
