I’ve noticed a big trend for this game, most of the karma weapons I find have the same, boring old models you find as common weapons.

The weapons just don’t seem all that inviting if they look bland or seem weaker in comparison to all the drops I’m finding.

There’s karma items with seraph/lionguard names on them, yet the weapons look dull as dishwater or the armour looks out of place completely.

Another thing is the karma armours, a lot of them seem to be the exact same thing in different areas, why? Though, once you hit a certain level the stuff changes dramatically.. except for adventurers.

Finding the same armours over and over again becomes a little disheartening. I love the aesthetics in this game but I hate how little variety there really is from these vendors. My sylvari thief is about 55 and there’s hardly anything really interesting to buy with karma now that the trading post works. If anything all I get from the vendors are recipes.

I mean take a look at these two armours, there’s not only the level difference but the fact that there’s different looking armour made specifically for the heavy and light professions. I don’t wanna seem like I’m whining but I really feel like this hurts the game a little.

I think the game was a bit rushed in the last months and it really shows on some aesthetics. Give it some time, I am certain there will be additions to the armor designs, at least that happened in GW1.

The thing that annoys me about karma vendors is everything they have is garbage and i don’t think they are worth the prices so i never buy anything from them . They should at least lower the price of karma items from heart vendors so they seem not a complete waste of karma.

If not for the stats on these items I would think the looks would be incentive enough for most people.

Don’t forget when you’re done you can’t sell or break down the piece of gear, and you can’t get any runes back from it. Considering that and the cost, it’s insane to buy any karma gear other than for skin or exotic. What were they thinking?

You used to be able to sell or break down those items.
But I’m sure many here remember a while back when they had set the wrong prices for some items from karma vendors.
That lead do player baying hundreds of these items to sell, salvage of convert in the mystic forge.
Whats worse is that allot of players got banned/suspended for doing it, even though it was Anets fault for setting the wrong price.

The result you see now, we cannot sell or salvage karma items anymore.
All you can do is destroy them which in my opinion makes Karma items a waste.

I understand why they did it, but I do not agree with it.
The only things I spend karma on now are crafting recipes and mats, as I can at least use that, and what I craft are not restricted by the karma rules.

I liked back when I could salvage something off a karma piece. It gave me the freedom to mix and match runes.

I found a vendor that had gloves with a minor rune in it that I couldn’t find on other karma vendor’s items. So I bought one of those 15s kits and managed to eventually salvage that rune off of a pair of those gloves and put it on another karma piece I had.

It felt really cool to be able to do something like that. But now karma vendors’ items make me feel trapped if I bother to get equipment through them.

In map chat I sometimes ask if anyone knew of a karma vendor that had an item with X stats or sold X type of item, and always get responses that I shouldn’t be relying on karma vendors in the first place. Like it is taboo now.

Getting nice looking new armor is especially important to my wife, and she’s pretty bored of the game, because it’s just the same old stuff, level after level. We’re not the type who care about variety at endgame, so much as variety along the way.

So if it’s not there by level 40, it just gets hard to keep going. For me too, somewhat, but especially for her. I’m pretty much playing without her, now.

This game is great for aesthetics in some ways, and the character creator gets it off to a flying start, especially with the dye system and all.. but then it just kinda falls flat, after 20 or 30 levels of loot looking all the same.
