Guild Wars 2

Wondering how many guys v girls you have filling up your character slots. For me it’s 3 girls to 2 guys. I think I actually prefer most of the female character models more, they seem to have more variation, but my main character was obligated to be a male cause of the name.

Also does anyone prefer certain races to be male or female? I always seem to gravitate towards making asura male, and norn female.

Since I see a lot of people saying that gender is affected by the characters personality I was wondering. Do other people tend to make females with tougher/meaner personalities? Pretty much any of the females characters I make in a game I always envision them with a mean girl personality. Anyone else?

Dunno why exactly. I guess I always try to see a bit of myself in each of my characters.

All of my characters are male and non of them human!

I have one male Human and a female Human and Norn. I don’t like male Norns much, they seem out of proportion.

I also like the Human starting area best so my next character will be a male Human.

male Charr, female human. REally only went with the female human because human males seem to have scoliosis by the way they walk and fight.

I don’t tend to roll females but then I have a strange perception towards it. In the old days of MMOs guys would roll female characters and actually pretend to be female; it was always very creepy when the server discovered x person was actually y gender. (Girls pretended to be males for some reason too)

2 Male, Charr and Norm for me :P and one human female for my wife xD

3 females and one male, but I don’t like him very much, so I may delete him and start over x_x he’s a noble, but he’s kinda scruffy looking, and has a scar on his eye. I didn’t think about that when making him…
Anyway, my girls are human, norn, and sylvari. I refuse to make a charr. I’ll probably have an asuran as my last char slot, and I don’t know if it’ll be a boy or a girl. I usually do all girls, their armor is cuter.

At the moment, 3 males (Charr, Charr, Asura) and 3 females (Charr, Asura, Norn).

5 males, 3 females. One each of Asura, Sylvari, and Human. Norn and Charr males, the female models seemed weird to me.

Norns and humans only. 2 male, 3 female. Don’t care for non-human characters in any game. Though, I suppose, technically…Norns are not human. Still with them its just a matter of scale.

Sometimes, you just get tired of watching the back end of male toons…or maybe you don’t. Hey, whatever melts yer butter.

All female because I like pretty girls doing cool things like killing dragons.

Female Asura. But i’ll also have a Sylvari and Norn later on, all female of course

Sometimes I do like to treat my female characters like a barbie doll, on my human thief I sent her a pink dye I found on my warrior so I could give her a pretty pink outfit. But I also like working on cars and own a plethora of power tools.

I don’t roll females cause I want to play aroused all day, it’s a little something called variety, and my picks are based on what I feel fits right.

Is the hand that moves the chess piece a male hand or female hand? Why does it even matter?

P.S. I don’t think owning power tools is necessarily gender related. I own a full set of pneumatic tools, chop saw, chain saw, etc.

I’m female. I’ve only played female characters (when I had a choice) since the MUD days. GW2 just continues that trend.

I am male. I play mostly males when given the choice. In GW2, all are males.

Lol no owning power tools doesn’t necessitate gender at least not anymore, but I thought it was better to put than eating steak with my hands and passing out in front of the tv.

And that chess comment for some reason reminded me of that weird old man in the cloak from that old chess master pc game. But I like the comment all the same!

Female Norn Warrior
Female Norn Elementalist
Female Norn Ranger

Three characters (yep bought the extra slot) that I may play or may delete, but I created just to see how the professions played out for the first few levels:

Human female Necromancer
Human female Engineer
Sylvari female Thief

There’s so much to do right now on one character I have yet to really get into playing an alt too much.

I have 5 girl characters and 2 guy characters. 5 are human, 1 is norn, 1 is sylvari. The males are both human.

for statistical reasons, i am female

Mine are an even split so far, 2 of each. Mostly because males in this game don’t have to be big ugly brutes. And I don’t want to play Charr or Norn, so I could use the variety since I plan to have 7-8 characters eventually.

I tend to prefer Sylvari as guys ‘cause they have the potential to be so adorable and androgynous looking, which is unusual for males in MMO’s but fits well with the Sylvari lore.

Well unfortunately as I am gathering no statistical data about this it won’t be compiled, I was just curious what people were rolling.

But I can see you are quite partial to humans. Myself I don’t mind the other races but am not a big fan of charr, dunno why.

And I’ll usually just call the person by whatever they are playing. If its a dude playing a chick I’ll say her, if it’s a chick playing a dude I’ll say him. Even though I assume 90% of them are guys anyway.

I don’t mind other races, but I’ve simply had a tendency to gravitate towards human in all MMOs for whatever reason. It may have something to do with modeling characters off ones in my writing (humans.)

i only used the word “statistical” due to anxieties about coming off as an attention kitten for stating the fact, but it seemed pertinent due to macho men in this thread who feel the need to state that playing a girl character makes you gay or something idk

I’m a guy and i have my main, ranger, sylvari, female character. lvl capped.

I have a lvl 1 Mesmer that my wife built for me as a representation of HER, so I’ll be playing as my wife next.

After that I have a goofy looking Asura who is also lvl 1, but I rolled the toon so I could get that ready to play later.

I RP a lot, so I’ve got a good backstory for the first one, and a couple basic ones for the two unstarted characters.

Playing as your wife huh, and after an argument you might “accidentally” miss that next platform on that jump puzzle.

Seven characters, seven girls.

I discovered in beta that playing dress up with males wasn’t very fulfilling and I’m all about the aesthetics. I’ve just got a Warrior left and that’s going to be either charr or asura, I haven’t decided which yet. If it’s asura, that will be eight girls, not so much for the appearance but for the voice. If it’s a charr, it will be the only stud in the stable.

Female gamer – female characters. 2 Norns, 2 charr, 2 sylvari, 1 human.

I had an asura for awhile but couldn’t get into the race.

Charr but not asura? Guess with a name like feycat the get specie-al favor (ah see wut I did ther)

I’m female and at the moment I’ve got 3 females (human, sylvari and norn) and 1 male (charr) but I will almost certainly add more later and they could go either way.

I tend to create my characters almost in reverse, I start with a general idea of the personality I imagine them having and then match up things like race, gender, background questions etc. to that so I’m pretty much equally likely to play either.

mine are all male. always will be. I don’t dress in drag in real life (not that there’s anything wrong with that if it floats your boat) and i’ve never done it in a game either.

Two boys, my Sylvari Elementalist main being one of them, and three girls. I’m eyeing my extra character slot though, not sure what it will be!

I prefer Asura, Norn, and Charr as women but like the Sylvari men a bit more than the women. I just don’t like humans period. :P

Oh yeah, forgot to mention: when I’m playing a male char I don’t pretend to be male. If anyone asks I’ll tell them I’m a girl in real life. But I also don’t go out of my way to let them know. I don’t think most people really care.

Like I said I always assume its a man, even now I’m assuming you could just be a dude named Dan that loves apple products and cats.
