Hey everyone

I’m just interested in the most expensive item you have looted (chest, mob, etc.) and where it was.

Obviously precursers will probably be the most but if you have any other interesting things you have found then put it in.

Last week I found a Ventari ascended recipe which I could sell for 36 gold.
I looted it from a buried chest in Dry Top

NB: This does not include stuff you have bought with a currency and sold for gold later (loot only).

A celestial dye in the early months of the game. Sold it for 25g and used the money to buy exotic armour for my ranger.

Kinda sad when you consider I’ve been playing since head start.

I don’t recall what it was, but I got a drop that sold for around 40gold at one point. It’s the only thing in my entire time in GW2 that was worth more than 3gold found in world. 3,300hours

I got a precursor very early on as well, but back then they were barely worth anything by comparison.

Got a 50G collection item a few days ago. Other than that, nada.

Got a sword I sold for 88g, best drop for me so far in 3,100+ hours.

An orichalcum node from a black lion chest, worth about 300 gold. From regular gameplay, nothing really stands out. Probably some exotic worth a few gold.

A permanent trading post contact, which I listed too high and has been sitting on the trading post for almost a year.

I got a Permanent Trading Post Express Contract which I sold for around 350g at the time, I think.

Also I obtained an abyss dye and a Golden Lion dye from those dye packs you get from BL chests.

I don’t buy any of my BL keys, I either get them as story/living world rewards, map completion and I’ve had 5 or 6 drop from mobs too*.

(*which really bothers me because apparently they’re a similar drop rate to a precursor and a pre has never dropped for me… ._.)

I got a Leaf of Kudzu out of the MF, next best was Lord Taeres’s Shadow from a champ bag which sold for around 75g – ~1800 hours.

I used mine immediately though, so that’s not exactly right. But shhhh, it’s the only valuable thing I’ve ever gotten.

Not counting Mystic Forge items, my most valuable item was The Colossus which dropped from a champ bag.

Tooth of Frostfang from a sentry in WvW, sold it for around 850-900 gold.

Around 2 gold worth exotic? Over 3k hours in the game. Yeah the loot in this game is great

Several Abyss and Celestial Dyes from Unid Dyes (from Dye change), Energizer from the Karka thing, a bunch of Shadow Dyes, but I guess they weren’t very rare…um…Makeover Kits (about 7)…and several named exotics that aren’t Precursors (I don’t know what they are worth…likely not much…but, they sit in Invisible Bags on characters that might use them some day..lol).

Nothing really special but the Dusk, which I should have kept to sell now, rather than back then (only about 500G).

After that I got the hunter from toilet by pure luck (Just throw random exo from craft leveling to toilet) so I sold that node and use money for the predator .

I can just imagine a friend of mine just getting the game and after like 2 hours, Dusk drops on a normal mob. I would honestly cry.

Perma Bank Express item from BL chest when I used to key farm a good bit (pre NPE). Sold it for about 650g.

I got a set of wings (don’t recall which ones) back during the first Dragon Bash and sold them for about 50g at the time (that was a LOT of gold back then).

Last night I got a full claim ticket out of a Black Lion chest. I turned that in for one of the scientific skins and sold that for around 140 gold.

Pretty nice considering after 3 years of playing I have never had more than 100 gold at any given time.

Nothing. Ever. I have played since Beta Weekend 1.

Yesterday I played for 3 hours. I got a drop about every 50 kills. Usually it was junk. I got 1 green during those hours. My magic find is 176%. Most of what I got was grey “junk” to sell to the merchant for copper.

I have been on permanent diminishing returns for 3 years.

My most expensive drop thus far has been “All-Seeing” (yes, the exotic version) the second time I did the Lyssa temple.

The most valuable things I can remember where 2x Abyss dyes around launch, I used one myself and gave the other to a friend though so there was no gold in it for me. Apart from that I have never found anything of particular value. Sure the occasional 1-8g value items (either through salvage and selling components etc) but that’s about it. I usually get flooded with lots of ‘ok’ or no value items though.

Since launch: Anton’s boot blade – value at the time 40g. … that’s it.
everything else has been less than3g that was good.

when my account was a couple weeks old (including head start) I got a black lion key and opened a chest. I got another key. This happened 3 times in a row, so I got 4 chests on one key. I’ve since used up all my luck. All exotics that drop for me are worth 5g or less.

Graveyard Bloom weapon skin from Twilight Arbor Aetherpath, 350g sell value. Got Rodgort’s Flame precursor from doing Arah path, 109g sell value. Still have them in the bank waiting for that magical price spike..

Maybe something about 80g when they introduced the Champ bags, other than that nothing leaps to mind. Not been the luckiest with big drops.

some armor of 3 gold, that’s really the highest price i have ever got from one item.

I looted that wind something backpack from the chest at the end of the Sprinting activity… sorry i really dont remember the names. I think I sold it for something between 70 to 90g. But due to my stupidity I lost much more gold than I won – for example few days ago I tried to get the recipe for superior sigil of the night… I lost like 15 gold, then gave up and bought the recipe for 7g.

Black Dye some months after the game released. It was worth a few gold.

Extremely difficult question to answer since some items have increased a lot in price compared to when they dropped.

Got Dawn from Hotjoin loot box. Sold it for 850 gold and bought The Hunter. Still haven’t crafted The Predator yet though. >.<

I got “The Lover” from the Troll in Queensdale, a week later the Ancient Oakheart dropped “The Bard”. My very first kill in Orr dropped an abyss dye. Around Christmas this past year I had 4 ascended weapon chests drop from Tequatl in a week, I also got 2 mini Tequatls in the same week. Final Rest has dropped around 7 times for me, including 3 times in the first week it was dropping. Bonetti’s rapier twice, Cobalt twice. I’ve done pretty good with the drops, made some guildies very jealous.

I’ve also gotten light of dwayna/shadow of grenth recipes, but that was back when they were ~10g and i used them both
