What's the point of soulbound armor?
1. Drives the in game economy.
2. Armor tailored to fit a Charr will not fit an Asura.
2. Armor tailored to fit a Charr will not fit an Asura.
tell that to ascended armor lol.
Ladies and gentlemen, in all seriousness, even if the stat increase from Exotic to Ascended is hardly noteworthy, it is totally worth crafting your ascended armor so you can give it to your other characters on a whim.
Below is some compiled data for the stat increases if you don’t believe me when I say the stat increases are hardly worth the effort. It is a very old thread so please do not reply to it. You’re not supposed to bump up threads that are very old. Read only.

1. Drives the in game economy.
So does Account Bound
2. Armor tailored to fit a Charr will not fit an Asura.
Apparantly not because most armors (except for cultural) can be worn by every race.

MMO developers are not your friends. What matters to them is the longevity of their game. The more time it takes us to make or earn gear means potential increased longevity. I say "potential’ because there’s always the possibility we’ll get tired of it or wise up to what the developer is doing and quit.
Systems like soul-bound do in fact have beneficial effects on the economy, creating stability in the market and keeping prices for certain materials high. However that benefit could also accrue if the developer were to create new items requiring the materials. That would of course require developer resources to create that may or may not be available.
All MMO developers use systems to extend the longevity of their game. All of them. Soulbound is one such. That’s the point. You may not like it, but that’s why it’s there.

Account bound still drives demand down as you dont have to get new exotic armor for each character after you use it on one character.
And ascended armor is not point of this discussion as it is not soulbound.

Account Binding Reagent
Converts a piece of Soulbound gear to Account Bound.
35 Gems | 5 for 125 | 25 for 600
Everyone wins? I mean that’s still ~5g to convert a single piece so it’s more expensive than outright buying a new piece of gear (sans upgrades). But hey… Upgrade Extractors are still in the store so maybe this hypothetical item would/should cost more.
Hyperbole is the absolute worst thing in the universe.
Meh … it’s tedious to swap anyway if you actually play all your characters. The only time where I would see account bound being useful is when you decide to delete a character.

Tell that to that blue armour I keep re-using for all my characters while leveling…
I don’t think this is much of an issue. Worst case scenario you spend 1 or 2g on a new exotic for your next character and transmute the look you want. it is a minimal cost
