What's up with these weapons?
You’re definitely a minority. People like large weapons. Roll an asura.

It’s a bigger minority than you might think .
I blame it on miniatures games – where the weapons have to be ridiculously oversized to have enough cross section to keep from snapping in a passing breath of air, much less being picked up or touched by their owner.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

I blame kitten like animu and final fantasy.

Wow, that’s a pretty interesting justification, didn’t think of that before.
On topic though, never noticed it (I always play asura or casters though, and my warrior uses sword/warhorn + bow)
There are none huge options you can transmute either way, just like there are skimpy and non-skimpy armours to choose from. It’s up to you
There are quite a few non absurd weapons available.
The fact that you see so many is an indication that they appeal to a lot of people.
It is also not really so bizarre if you look at the aesthetics of the different races and their respective tech levels- it is a mixed bag out there
here is the gallery I use if I am looking for a weapon
Not hating the weapons ingame, even if some are absurd BUT I have to agree with one point… don’t know if this is just a problem with wrong scaling, but with my norn a lot of the one hand swords are clipping into the floor while standing and running… and this really annoys me… even more so, my guildmates said some of this weapons are not going into the ground with their human characters…
Weapons scale wildly differently in the hands of Norns than they do in the hands of humans. This is an attempt to convey that not only are Norns big, but they also have vastly greater proportional strength – its an entire race of ’Hulk’s basically. However, the way they did this was to scale up the weapons in all threes axes (rather than only making them wider and thicker), and so the tips drag the ground in almost every case for 1-h swords. Only suggestion I can offer, having wrestled with it myself, is there is a craftable Dredge sword that is stumpy enough that when it goes through the distortion its remains short enough to be hung from the hip without dragging in the dirt . The two gladius-like exotic weapons are also pretty passible post-distortion.

I’d like to see these hammers as big as the wielders torso… I can think of maybe 3 or 4 hammer skins in the whole game where the head of the bugger is bigger than my Norns clenched fist..
looks like OP has never read Berserk

Have you checked out the axes in this game??
Some axe heads are larger than my norn’s torso, and these are ranged weapons …
For anyone who cares – historical 2 handed swords only weighed about 3kg.
A typical longsword was less than half that.
