What's with all the updates?
They are fixing things that break. Just trust Anet on what they’re doing and try to tough through them. I’m sure things will be back to normal, especially when the 26th patch comes out

You’re also downloading content for future patches that just needs to be activated, rather than everyone having to download a huge patch every time there’s new content.

There’s been two updates recently. One was stated to have no content changes but had maintenance purposes (and to reset some events and gathering nodes). The other was to add the bag and bank slot consumables to the Gem Store. All the information is available to you right here on this forum.
You evidently don’t work in IT.
