Hi. Im new to the game. I just wanted to ask what amount of gold do most of you guys have? I am at 51 and I earn my 1 gold in 4 hrs (farm and ah only). I only play from 7pm-11pm since I work mostly during the day. Currently I only have about 6g. So at my rate, would you consider it slow? Any suggestions where I can farm? This is my first MMO btw. Im really enjoying this game too.

I would not say slow, I am 80 and have 2.5 G

Not slow for your level, although there are probably easier ways if you intend to focus solely on getting money. And 6G is a great sum for your level as well.

Already playing to just farm gold at 51? I couldn’t do it, I am only level 60, but not once have I ever farmed for the sole purpose of farming gold and/or items. In my 60 levels I have been able to keep my leather crafting at my level and I have never ran out of gold, or could not afford something I needed. The closest I come to farming is running every single world event I stumble upon, but that is more for the XP than any monetary reward.

I do admit my crafting has slowed down as I am not getting near as much leather as I used to, I seem to get too many cloth/chain drops and my goodie bags are spitting out more butter than anything else :/.

For the record I have ~2.5 gold at level 60.

Um… I think you mean copper per hour… and I don’t know.

level 30 and sitting on 3.5 gold

No farming. Just straight up zone completion and selling anything I get.

Oh i see. I assumed that everybody must have already accumulated 100+ gold or something. No I dont play just for the gold. I am farming for that Master Book and some of the armors I see from the NPCs (got a bit bored with leveling, maybe I’ll work my way to 55 this weekend)

Average of about 75 silver an hour farming Orr events I’d say. MF gear/food.

This can very greatly depending on a few factors. If it’s crowded it’s harder to tag mobs and get loot. If it’s late in the day and there was no server reset, the events are bugged and less farm.

Edit: until I hit the anti-farm code of course and all item drops stop……….

No, no, you’re not mistaken. I’ve not seen a gold piece is all…. I had 80 silver once, but used it up crafting…

Yes, crafting is expensive. The only thing I’ve crafted were 2 leather bags.

I’ve crafted some useful armor for my Guardian. Also some useful 12 slot bags. I’ve dabbled in cooking, wich is also pretty useful. Can’t really go wrong w/ food buffs.

If you get too much loot too fast (easy in Orr defend events) your drops virtually stop for an hour or so. No one but anet knows the exact numbers for it.

It’s really easy to see when you do 2-3 events and fill your bags in every one, then suddenly end up with 2 bones and a leather strap at the end of the 4th. Go pvp for an hour and woosh, back up to filling your bags every event.

Thanks for the tip Quintal. I haven’t experienced that yet but maybe its because I dont really fill my bag the same way as level 80’s do. Yes, the PvP part I have yet to explore coz’ Im more of a story/quest type of player.

I got lvl 80 and I have about 26g and exotic gear. I make 1g+ an hour farming dungeon explorable modes.

Buy mats cheap (on order) and sell exotic crafted stuff (armor/weapon) expensive (not on order). I make ~40 to 80 silver per item (already excluding auction fee).
How much that is per hour entirely depends on how much stuff you make at once.

I’m tailoring and still have to get on the farming cloth. I really need to replace some bags.

62 and have 12g. I don’t play the market (i.e., I don’t buy low and relist for higher prices and profit). I don’t craft other than cooking. I sell all my crafting mats that are in demand on the market (other than cooking mats, which I hoard), sell all blues and most greens to vendors (unless the green is fetching a decent premium on the market), and salvage only salvage items and whites that generate materials that are in demand (otherwise I sell to the vendor, too). I never use waypoints in a zone, or in a neighboring zone, and I always use Heart of the Mists to get back to the cities. I also run away a lot when in trouble in order to avoid being downed unless there are other players around me.

I don’t specifically go on farming trips — this is from just playing through the content and harvesting what I see and selling drops to vendors or on the TP at market prices. I think many of the other folks who are struggling with money are either (1) using waypoints a lot, (2) dying a lot in dungeon PUGs and incurring repair costs, (3) buying lower level racial gear, (4) salvaging stuff that can be sold for more money to vendors than as mats on the TP (or saving mats to use in crafting, thereby losing money) and/or (5) using the TP as a source for crafting mats and/or gear for leveling.

Level 80 with 26 Gold at the moment, just got done buying two Exotic Axes, both being ~5 Gold each. I just keep farming, I actually enjoy it. If I was a Chinese Gold Farmer, I think I’d be in heaven. Find yellow items and salvage them with a Mystic Salvage Kit and sell the globs, sometimes getting zero Globs per salvage, sometimes getting as many as three Globs, you never know what’ll happen!
