Does anyone have a picture on a guardian holding a Gargoyle shield with the aegis effect on? Does it look okay and fitting?
I made a guardian design here with gargoyle weapons but I’m not sure if the gargoyle shield will look okay on him when there is the aegis animation!
I don’t have much gold left so would love to see a guardian picture holding the gargoyle shield with aegis effect on before I buy it…

I think many of us have the headache of finding a matching shield skin for our guardians because of the aegis animation.

What shield skins fit a guardian?
I have wasted transmutation charges on shields that look great in preview, only to realize it is terrible when blocked by the aegis animation on a guardian.
So rather than waste further transmutations, I would like to seek opinions on what shield skins work!

So far only the ghastly grinning shield looks okay to me and that is only because the smoky effect helps cover the aegis animation to some extent =/

Edit: while we are on this topic, can we include the aegis animation in the preview window so we know how it looks like with the item we are previewing? Thanks!

The Flameseeker Prophesies? It already has similar effects on it.

What I use probably isn’t available to you, but I use the Winter’s Shelter Shield skin. The aegis covers up the shield (which isn’t that great looking) so what you see is the somewhat ghostly looking aegis and a flurry of snow particle effects coming out of the shield.

I use this cheap skin, that I think is pretty classy looking, and aegis fits in perfectly as well. Nothing too fancy but I like it.

I do like Brahams set. I don’t find the Aegis causes any issues, but then again, the blue effect compliments the colour scheme I have as well as the eyes of the wolf on the shield

My sylvari guardian’s used https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shield_of_the_Moon for most of her existence. The open work aspect lets the aegis sit in it as an extra effect rather than as a detail blocker.

You have to think of Aegis effect as being a transparent decal…. once you start thinking this way, you start looking at things that have synergy with either the shape or color scheme. FlameSeeker is an obvious choice, so is Kyrtan’s Embrace. Other good candidates include round shields, the tower shield, Legionnaire shields, Gallant, SAB shields, and the Vigil one. The ones that don’t look good with the effect are the Ornate style shields, which include the Asd skins, roughly half of the Black Lion skins, and ones that have boss details that don’t contrast with the Aegis’ glow.

The Mad Moon, thought it looked pretty cool anyway, then saw it at night… Shiny.

Obviously, from the picture, our Guardians have vastly different “themes”. But preview the Ebon Vanguard shield; you might like it. It is dark, and the Aegis aura fits it rather nicely. And since you have little gold remaining, you’ll be pleased to know you can get one in the Stronghold of Ebonhawke for mere KARMA!

I use Mystic Barricade. I still think the shield is upside down, but it looks okay with aegis. Anything symmetrical and large works best.

I think this is true…anything large and evenly shaped will allow the aegis to settle nicely…
only problem might be the color of the aegis…and the shape altering the shield design…positively or negatively…

I just use Eidolon as it looks the same as the aegis.
