As a personal opinion, from a newbish player…

I have a fresh 80 necro (my very first lvl 80), with pretty bad gear (green mostly, my only serious exotics are weapons I bought). I haven’t touched Cursed Shore yet but have 100% Straits and around 85% Malchor’s done. I don’t have a guild and I’m mostly running solo or joining random flash mobs.

I believe the zones in general are fine.

From what I observed during my stay in Orr it seems lots of people run into problems because they’re not paying attention and simply run ahead like headless chickens, or try to avoid killing anything and just run past mobs (really, what’s with the “no violence” attitude?), or have no patience and bang their heads against impossible odds instead of asking for help on mapchat (while there are hardly enough people for major events, I have yet to see a truly “dead” Orr zone, you don’t need an army for POI’s or skill challenges). Yes, there are areas that could use some tuning, and having every stupid risen farmer with knockdown/stun moves IS somewhat over the top, but TBH, it’s not nearly as bad as reading this forums led me to believe. I can easily imagine that with more people the zones would be way more fun, I really hope they give more reason for people to hang around there instead of Fractals.

I agree though that minor, WP specific events should stay “done” way longer; as it is now, there should be at least a couple players camping at every uncontested WP just to keep it open for more than 5 minutes, it’s fairly ridiculous.

^ this

actually, as a somewhat casual player (just starting curaed shore on my first toon), i was reading the forums and seeing this or that complaint…
Orr being among them, as “too difficult”.

Gosh, im already more than halfway thru it and seriously.. no problem there.
is it a bit harder than other zones? yes.
but lol at people saying it needs a nerf…really some people must come from some other mmo for kids even younger than target kids for gw2.

anyway.
the grind in this game is; legendary and ascended backpack.
thats it.
and by the time you get there….
i mean, i am already having a tuff time getting myself geared up with exotics armors and 3-4 weapon sets + trinkets.
and 1-2 sets of runes.

gosh.

Orr to me looks like several shades of grey stuck on a ferris wheel and spun around.

The mob density at some parts is ridiculous. Majority of the DE’s are not tackled – and ones that are are zerg fests because players found a decent reward method – yes I know of two, but will not say because it will get nerfed.

The reason why players do these DE’s is because they feel that this is the only rewarding place – and bucket loads of players cannot be wrong!

Then there is the respawn rate issue and overall unrewarding system that makes players not want to be in Orr – even in groups/guilds, so the core mechanic of Orr (i.e. group/guild/team work ) does not work here. If that is broken then this is a serious issue, and one which has not been fixed for quite some time now!

Nobody is going to go back to Orr as long as fractals exists as the exclusive content for ascended gear and best-in-game drops — fact.

Part of me thinks that someone in ANet was thinking “hey, wanna see something funny? Watch this…”

this is a fact and a major issue.
my guess is that anet wanted to buy themselves some time to prepare the big improvement patches of january to march.

so they nerfed everything and gave us the fractals.

its allright.

about the subject; orr is meant for hero. anybody who says thats its “tedious” need to go back to queensdale!

SAVE YOURSELF!
