What the heck did scarlet do?!
She was fracking.
FA – On Wednesdays We Wear [PINK]
Xysynra (Ele), Syranyx (Necro)
Taking only from info from the game:
The drill tapped into the leylines that were under Lion’s Arch, and interrupted them (it says on the controls that it wasn’t designed to tamper with them but interrupt them outright). This interruption spread from Lion’s Arch all the way to the maguma jungles passing trough the thaumanova reactor (implying that it was the same line that caused the explosion in the first place), and caused the rousing of a sleeping elder dragon deep in the jungle (all the characters know is that after the drill hit the leylines, a dragon cry was heard all over tyria).
Using also non game sources, we also know that this dragon is Mordremoth, the jungle dragon and the last one to awaken (assuming all references to being 6 of them are correct).
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
OMG exactly what I wanted to hear, ty so much
Am I the only 1 that is seriously confused to what scarlet did once she died? What did that drill tap into? And what did that energy stuff unleash? So confused someone plz help!
She kittened off the player base.
And that’s the kind of kitten that gets you stomped.
No one really knows what she exactly did. This is what we know:
- Mordremoth may have affected her mind.
- The drill worked like a spark plug, it delivered a ‘shock’ into the lay lines. That seems to have affected a dragon. Probably awakening him. That dragon was likely Mordremoth.
My theory is that she injected energy into the lay lines and sent it to the dragon, “jump-starting” it. Dragons seems to sit on top of portals to the mists and “founts” of magic when lay lines start, like Zaitan did in Orr, or how Kralkatorrick did when he awoke, flying all the way south to the portal in the Tombs of Primeval kings.
Why?
Mordremoth has somehow connected to the dream, becoming the source of “Nightmare”. He learns from the dream about the world, and knows that people has managed to defeat a dragon. But he’s asleep until his “magic spring” has flowed with enough intensity to wake him up.
So he tainted sylvari in the dream. While most silvary simply became crazy and started going around spreading chaos and sorrow, one kept most of her composure. Slowly and attacking her from he subconscious, the dragon kept contact with that one sylvari. And somehow made her believe she could find and destroy the dragon to get rid of the constant pressure making her go mad. She though she would interrupt the flow of magic, effectively starving the dragons to death.
But what she did instead was injecting magic power into the lay lines, sending a wave of magic that reached Mordremoth, which sped up the dragon’s cycle, allowing him to get more magic in less time, and wake up sooner, and prepare to defend himself against the Pact that would have otherwise eventually found a more vulnerable inanimate dragon like when Primordius looked like a statue.
What will he do now? He’ll probably get cozy on top of some magic spring, gather magic and an army, try to infiltrate us, and try to wipe us out from within, as he seems to be the dragon linked not just to jungles and wilderness, but also to the mind, souls, dreams, and nightmares.
I can’t wait to see how will he corrupt the races of Tyria. They will probably look mostly the same, maybe with glowing eyes, as their minds and souls are more affected than their bodies.
She was fracking.
Call your congressmen! Make them stop! Their “energetic independence” will awake dragons!

She dun goof’d.
Yeah, she was calling Mordremoth.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
I think it would be absolutely hilarious if Mordy turned out to be “good” and is supposed to help us with whatever else it is that we’ll be fighting next. After all, energy radiates like spokes in a wheel along the ley lines… who knows what else she woke?
Scarlet has successfully carried out her dastardly plan of consuming development resources to the point that all other endgame content decays and the playerbase gets fed up and leaves.
The dragon was just a diversion. There is more than one way to destroy Tyria.
