I was just wondering if anyone had a guide or suggestions on really how to play the end game. I’ve had this game for awhile but was never really able to dive into the end game because it wasn’t too clear and I wasn’t in a guild so I could never really ask anyone. Well I finally decided to update the game after a long hiatus, instead of uninstalling it. I’d appreciate any help or direction you guys had to offer.

I was also wondering what’s the best way to get better gear after level 80, and the best way to get new skins/transmutation points?

Thanks for your time.

The way I like to think of it is that after level 80 the game becomes much more open-ended. There’s very little you need to do but lots of things you can do and it’s entirely up to you which ones you focus on and in what order.

Gear progression at level 80 is pretty limited, which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on if chasing gear is something you enjoy. For me it’s great. If you haven’t already got a full set of exotics with matching stats you should go for that.

Which stat combination you choose is up to you, and there’s lots of places you can get them. The simplest are to buy it from the trading post, craft it if you’ve got the relevant crafts levelled up, get it from the karma vendors at the temples in Orr, get it with WvW badges or with dungeon tokens. You can also mix and match ways of obtaining it because all level 80 exotics are equally good so it’s not like you’ll be at a disadvantage if you get it with karma instead of dungeon tokens or whatever.

After that the only remaining tier is ascended which is only reliably obtained by crafting (it’s expensive and time-consuming because some parts can only be crafted once per day). You can also get some pieces as rewards in the new Living Story chapters, and as drops in WvW and Fractals but that’s rare. But if you don’t feel like getting ascended don’t worry – it’s not needed for anything except high level Fractals, so for most people it’s completely optional.

As for what you do it’s really up to you. Options include: story (Personal, HoT, Living Story), map completion, WvW, PvP, dungeons, Fractals, raids, big map-wide meta events like Silverwastes, Tangled Depths and Dragon’s Stand, making a legendary weapon (which will require playing in a lot of areas) or a bit of everything.

There’s a lot to do at 80, and it seems like it all has to be done now.

Go to a karma vendor in a major city and get the ascended amulet appropriate for your class. If you have done WvW, you may have enough currency to get the amulet from the WvW vendor, which will save you some laurels.

If you have HoT, unlock the Masteries- do the Personal Story “Torn from the Sky.” Start on glider basics. Do events in Verdant Brink and the Personal Story until you have gliding basics. Use boosts and food to increase xp to help your progress.

Next, go to Orr to the karma vendors in the temple to get exotic equipment. The 80 level personal story takes you through Orr, so you can work on that. For Core Tyria, level Pact commander. If you want to do fractals, get at least level 2 in the Fractal masteries. If you aren’t working on legendary weapons, hold off on the legendary masteries.

Orr has a lot of hero points so unlock as many as you can to gain your elite spec. Once you have exotic equipment, you can go back to Heart of Thorns and work on hero points there. Dulfy has a guide to help you.

These are suggestions. Do what seems fun at all times.

That depends … my warrior carries 3 or 4 greatswords. Two spare set of armor and trinkets with different stats of course. 3 hammers. 2 longbows. 4 axes and … some stuff I am forgetting. Gear progression is not just vertical.
