Guild Wars 2

Since no release date for HoT has been given it might probably take some more time until it gets released. News talk about demo versions etc. so we might have some free time to spend until we can explore the maguuma jungle.
I understand that ANet is quite busy with this addon, so I respect the fact that no new content is coming until then but what about simply adding “old” content?

What do you think would be worth coming back to game until HoT release?

Examples:
- Molten Facility (Link) – put an asura portal in the areas it was and an asura in front of it with one dialog saying they built it as a temporary attraction to replay it. (I know, a part of it is in fractals but it would still be fun doing the whole thing again!)
- Super Adventure Box – No achievements required, no new levels required, just activate it so people can play and spend some time plus get some skins for their wardrobe – this won’t harm anyone. Or is there a problem with megaservers not allowing the SAB to open again? Then people should be refunded for their coin (which lies around dead in inventory for 1 year+.
- The crown pavilion – so many people donated on wintersday, why is queen jennah not opening this fun area as some sort of appreciation?

Lore problem? Nope – New recruits must be trained, so why not open new training areas like mentioned for new heroes getting ready for maguuma jungle?

So all it takes are like a few portals, maybe some characters with 1 dialog page and that’s it. And people have fun waiting for HoT instead of running to other games or only checking in periodically. Plus new players can learn something about previous events.

What previous GW2 content would you love to see back in game until HoT release and how to match it into current game state (lore compatible)?

Heck, at this point I would BUY an expansion which only included the SAB w1 and w2.

HoT won’t be getting a buy from me if there isn’t at least some announcement about SAB return before its release. (If there is at minimum, an announcement, I will buy it with cash, and any expansion or update Anet would ever release for this game. )

I’d love for the SAB to come back. It’s the one thing I’ve been waiting for pretty much since it last closed a year and a half ago. Even my youngest (soon to be 9 years old) is still talking of it and has me periodically check the box in Rata Sum to see if the box has opened again. She’ll be thrilled when she can finally play it again, especially since she’s aquired much better jumping skills in the time since the box last opened.

That said, there is a lot of other stuff to do in game that will keep me busy for many months. I’m a bit torn, I’d love to explore new lands I haven’t been to before, and earn new skills and abilities (through masteries), but on the other hand it feels really good to have time to just mop up whatever goals are only half-way finished.

Disclaimer: Having a busy real life with family, job, house&garden and whatever else the world throws into my path to distract me from gaming, I’ve come to a playstyle that doesn’t really include any farming, but rather jumps from one part of the game to another purely depending on what I feel like at the time .

That said, what’s keeping me busy (and surely will for a while yet), in no particular order:

• Completing the luminescent skin collection that came as part of the second half of season two. I prefer to only jump into Silverwastes occasionally, to not get burnt out on it, so progression is slow, but steady.
• Completing the dungeoneer collection. I really enjoy running dungeons, especially with friends, so I’m slowly getting there. So far, I haven’t finished any of the individual dungeon skin collections necessary, but a few are getting close.
• Unlock traits on my post-April characters, as well as XIII traits on the older characters. I currently have 4 80s that were created after April ‘14, that, while all having functioning builds for pve and wvw, could use some more trait variety, so I’ll take them out into the world whenever I feel like it to check on the events/areas that give those traits.
• Leveling characters. Personally, I’ve got a necro I finally want to get to 80 (the last class I haven’t gotten to 80 yet), plus a few other class/race combinations I’d like to have access to.
• World exploration is always an option. There’s fun in going through areas again if you haven’t been there in a while.
• Gain more experience with classes/builds. There’s quite a few classes/builds out there that I’d like to learn how to play better in specific areas of the game, e.g. guardian in high-level fractals or necro in wvw.
• Crafting (if you haven’t done so before). While I have crafting maxed on my main account, I have hardly developed any crafting skills on my second account, and am getting to the point where I’m feeling the need to change that (fractals past lvl 30, crafting the cultivated vine and Mawdrey). One of these days, I’ll start hoarding materials to finally get those crafters anywhere in their trades.
• PvP ranks (for specific finishers like phoenix and dragon) and WvW ranks (for wvw abilities) are always tasty do gather, too. While I don’t play either regularly, I enjoy it every now and then and am always pleasantly surprised when a new finisher or ability unlocks.

It will be interesting to see what comes of this topic, my guild was discussing this on TS the other day, and when it came down to it, we basically all said there is nothing to do until the expansion comes, its basically comes down to logging in for 10 mins a day to do dailies, the problem with this is that its becoming more boring to do this, and a lot of my friends have already said they wont even come back for the expansion.

I leveled my ranger which was sitting at 38 since shortly after release as she will become my druid and possibly my new main.
Now working at world completion (around 65%) which will take some time. Maybe leveling crafting for ascended leather armor and staff (yeah, I don’t like crafting that much, but I’d prefer her to have nice gear).

When I’m done with that, I am pretty much out of stuff to do though, so ANet better give us a date not too far in the future for the expansion.

Grind skins and gold just like you did before.

Its not like anything changed.

I would like to play Season1, but I will never be able to do so.

I Think the response you are getting is generally, nothing is needed people are enjoying “prepping” for it.

My plan is to rack up as many T6 mats and skill points by just exploring, questing with friends, silverwastes, and doing as much WvW as I feel like. I am actually really enjoying the break from limited contents that make me feel like I NEED to do certain things. I would be very happy to simply have nothing new until HoT’s launches, apart from any Holiday stuff that happens.

Well, as you already said, there are two Molten Facility fractals already. As for the Crown Pavilion, that seems to be a summer-only event; I wouldn’t expect to see that again until June/July/August.

It would be nice to have SOME sort of content put in, even if it’s rehashed stuff like SAB.
