Obsidian Shards for example.

I dont think you can do anything with them. I have a handfull of Obsidian Shards from orrian boxes I bought to get the minipet. I have absolutely no intention of ever making a legendary item since in my opinion they are all fugly as hell. In time once more are added I may find one I like but by then I will probably be able to purchase one in the TP.

Please Anet let us sell these obsidian shards on the TP.

Pretty much if it’s account bound and unvendorable I just destroy it.

I’m actually surprised that Obsidian Shards are not used in more mystic forge recipes. I would be surprised if they did not start showing up at some point in the future.

If you can’t use them for another character, salvage it, or sell it to a vendor, then toss it into the Mystic Kitten Flusher and see what happens. If even that isn’t an option, then you have to decide if you want to hold onto them in case new options are added later, or if you just want to destroy them.

I’ve got a load of Obsidian Shards since I really only spend karma on the jewelery boxes. I have no use for them right now, but no way I’m junking them in case they actually prove useful in the future.

The account bound foods I stick in my collection too because I still have to do Cooking.

Might as well save them. Unless of course you have more than a stack and it is taking up bank space, then trash them. But if you have 250 or less, just toss them in the collectable tab and let them collect dust.

Cause who knows? Later down the road they might add Obsidian armor like in GW1, and to craft it you are going to need those shards.

Same with any account bound material. If you have 250 or less, just leave them in the collectable tab. They aren’t taking up any space for other items, so might as well hold onto them for the off chance that you might use them for something later on.

Obby shards go in your materials storage. Why destroy it. Leave it there. It’s not like it’s taking up a bank slot, unless you have more than a stack of them.

I got a few extra from the Orrian Jewelry Boxes (already have my clovers done). Saving them in the collectibles tab, doesn’t use inventory space, just in case I ever decide to go for a legendary on another character

Cragstone is pretty much your only alternative. But I’m sure more will come.

Well, Obsidian Shards are used to make Mystic Clovers. Which is a 33% chance result of a recipe you make T6 crafting materials with. Would using your Obsidian Shards in that recipe be worth it? The T6 mats you get when you “fail” making Mystic Clovers are tradable.

if you don’t want a legendary, here’s one suggestions: make a legendary :P (then sell it)
most legendaries cost around 500g less to make than to buy. that difference is made up in non-purchasable stuff, like SP, karma, and map completion. save the obsidian shards until you have enough, save random other little things, then in a couple months spend like 1000g on the rest of the purchasable stuff, then make a legendary that you sell for 1,500g
