What drawbacks are there to using my 80 boost to make a duplicate of my main class as a different race and using that new character as my main?

I could just transfer all her gear because it’s account bound.

But I’d lose:
Bag Slots (ouch)
Map completion (meh, wouldn’t mind actually doing it again)

Any other drawbacks?
I would keep my main ofc for birthdays.

That’s about it. Story line progession, if that’s important to you. Off hand, I can’t think of anything else.

Edit. I did it with my warrior and my Necro. I found that any disadvantages were outweighed by the advantage of having the race you prefer.

You will lose birthday gift for that character. If that character old enough these gifts can be valuable. At least 3th year gift was awesome.

Unless you swap to asura, in which case the asura is outweighed by everything.
(However, a lot of fun to play and among my favorite voice actors.)

They said they’d keep the toon for birthdays

I meant that all characters have their own birthdays when they receive gifts from ANet. 3th year old characters got their selectable dye pack last time. So if you have several old characters you will get several gifts/dye packs etc.

Yeah they aren’t deleting the older character so they will still get the gifts.

I wouldn’t say you’d be hung by any drawbacks tbh if you’re not deleting it. Create your dopple, shift your gear over to it then maybe slap some dungeon or wvw gear on the old toon so you can still use it as a mule & park it on node clusters or w/e you fancy.

Could still be of use even though it’s not used often.

I already have every profession at 80, although I don’t play them much.

I am trying to find a use for my 80 boost that isn’t wasteful because you can’t use that free shared inventory slot until you use the kitten thing. They literally won’t even let me put it in the bank.

yeah, i have all toons at 80 and my spare slot occupied by a doubloon JP alt. i obviously can’t use it on her, and it feels wasteful to just take the rewards without the boost, but i may end up doing that regardless. It’s not like i’m short of tomes, so i could insta-80 at least one other toon if i ever felt the urge.

I feel like they should have included a lvl 80 version of the experience scroll thingy if you choose to take the rewards on an 80 character. that way you only miss out on that trial mechanic (and the people who would use it on an 80 would probably not really care about that anyway)
