Just get rid of Ascended gears. Simple as that. If they want to add infusion, do it so that the exotic pieces could be infused, just like they did in GW1. FOTM should just have a cool skin, and that’s it. Just like GW1. People were happy with how that worked in GW1, and they’ve played that for so many years.

Why change that all of a sudden? Change what have worked, and all I’m hearing is complaints. The new decision surely isn’t popular.

A they would have to make the Ascended and legendary gear equal to the Exotics again and that would just be the fix.

B now that many have gone on to go back to other games, personally really enjoying MoP a lot more then I thought I would having leveled two characters to 90, they would have to give up a very good carrot to entice people back. Even if they fixed the game now that we are having fun elsewhere why should we abandon our progress there? Possibly giving everyone a precursor of their choosing as a reward. You could even make it a storyline quest. But they’ll have to go over just a fix at this point to bring people back.

Just saying things will be better would be laughable at best.

Not happening. Game is exploding in popularity with the new gear.

I know some friends who would get rid of the stat bonus Ascended gear gives. I dont know anyone who bought this game for gear-treadmil.

And another cliche of those defending the patch…

People posts facts about many people unhappy, and many players leaving…

Do you have something aside your word to prove that?
Is your post useful stating the opposite of most people says, without any proof?

And please do not say “LA puts me in overflow” thing… we know why it happens and has nothing to do with popularity…

Nor server population unless it gives actual numbers (because the cap can be stealth changed and probably it have been done already for technical issues)

GW2 balance:
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

Nothing. I’m very bored of guildwars right now. I’m not playing much anymore not because Anet did this one thing or that one thing wrong.

I have seen what there is to be seen that interests me in this game. I don’t like farming all the time in my games, and there WvW is “meh” at best.

It was worth my money, it isn’t costing me anything not to play, I will tinker with gw here and there because of that, and when a expansion is released, I will probably buy it, tinker with it untill I get bored, and go back to tinkering.

People need to stop thinking of this game as a traditional subscription based MMO, and start looking at it for what it is, just another videogame. It has no other requirement to it then me going out and buying say Black Ops 2. I play it, I get bored with it, I move on untill they add more content, then I come back play it again, rinse, repeat.

Problem with MMO players, and I have been one forever, is we cant get away from the MMO model we have had to deal with in the past, where we paid a sub, therefore, we were entitled to be perpetually entertained.

Treat GW2 like you would any other video game purchase, and its all the sudden not that big of a deal.

I think this is quite accurate.

Some people think a MMO is something you subscribe to and play 8 hours a day running a rat race for gear pixels to massage an ego bruised by real life failures.

GW2 is not for those kind of people. It’s a video game like lots of other video games, designed for fun, socialising and immersion.

It doesn’t need to have tricks and feed loner nerd-addictions. It is just a great game that people can play, leave and always come back to.

GW2 is getting more popular with the new gear. My guild/friendlist has an 50% increase in its overall activity. People are more online then pre-patch. So yeah, the new content was a success and should stay and even expand on it! Maybe add some new tiers with every expansion to keep everyone busy.

LFG, event finder, stuff like that.

And no gear progression.

But to be honest, I found GW2, whilst a very good game, to just be too inaccessible. Too much grinding, too much looking for content, too much chat spam to try to find groups.

Keep ascended gear. Keep the stats of ascended gear. But separate it from the rest of the game and limit it to the fractals and other dungeons like it so that the people who want to gear grind and can do so and the rest of us don’t have to get sucked into that black hole.

If they announced tomorrow that Ascended gear/legendary gear would be normalized to exotic stats everywhere but in dungeons, I would be beyond thrilled and singing the praises of Arenanet. Hell, if they just said they would just do that for WvW it would be enough for me!

I don’t mind gear grinders or gear treadmills. I play them regularly. But that’s the problem- I already have a subscription to Rift, which is a FAR better gear grinder than GW2 currently is or ever will be. I got GW2 because it was different, unique. And while it was different and unique, it was the single best MMORPG I had played in years. Together they gave me a nice mix of what I wanted.

Now that GW2 wants to become a gear grinder, it is subject to comparison against the others… and in that respect, it loses sorely. So if I’m going to hop on a gear treadmill, it will be a more established one that does a better job of it.

seriously, nothing much can do to attract people from coming back. Imo, the best way Anet can do right now is try to fix all the long overdue bugs, events and introduce small to large scale mini events.

game is better than it ever has been. People left maybe, bad form them, there missing out on a great ganme that will only get better. I agree that if they try to change things back now all they willdo is lose even ,more customers, so leave it as it is now. changing things will jus make more leave and those who have left wont come back anyway.

Tis not what they can do for you

Add more of everything. Loot, dungs, new stuff like housing, etc, etc, etc. Most people have quit for lack of things endgame not because of new stuff that was added. New tiers and events and such would bring more back than taking items away by 10 fold…….

Maybe some people would come back if Anet fixes “all the game is end game”.

wrt PvE:
- promise: “no grind”, “all the game is end game”.
- reality: most of “all the game” (mid level zones in particular) is virtually deserted, end game = dungeons = grind.
And instead of fixing “all the game is end game”, Anet has added more grind.

For me (or better: my money):
- remove the god kitten grind
- stop implementing ascended gear, limit it to back pieces and accessories
- a complete rework of the FotM token system, it really sucks to grind all day to get nothing
- fire whoever was responsible for the start of the gear treadmill (it’s not necessary, but it would surely help)

Salix Babylonica (Necro), Tharnath (Guardian), N Faculty (Mesmer),
Occam Pi (Ele), Acaena Elongata (Warrior), Finja Salversdotir (Ranger),
Bytestream (Engineer), Vim Whitespace (Thief)

Add some language specific channels on the EU servers, so that there’s a Dutch, Swedish etc for those servers which are not language specific, allow people to watch more than one.
Fix the ridiculous profanity filter – right now it’s so silly that rep ut at ion sees p u t a in the middle and blanks it.
Fix the events so that they don’t stop working after a variable time leaving them locked up until the next restart.
