Whats GW2 Goal? Is it PVP? Raiding?
Dungeons have been abandoned and instead people who like them are supposed to check out Fractals as that’s their solution for “end-game” dungeon content.
Raiding is in it’s infancy with only 1 wing out (Spirit Vale) and for the most part it is well put together. Wing 2 is on its way sometime Soon™
The expansion is live
PvP is being re-branded, and tuned to be more e-Sports orientated. For the most part seasons are a good concept but the execution of season 1 and its balance left a sour taste in a lot of players mouths.
WvW is supposedly being worked on. Though there’s not been much of an update since Gaile’s post in the subforum about a month ago.
As far as “quest goes” you have more than one option per Heart. Some can be annoying while others do provide an interesting break from the typical / kill/ fetch design. But otherwise it’s nothing revolutionary. The main draw of the open world is the dynamic event system or meta events. However even those can become stale if you play them too much.
Hearts aren’t actually the quests in the game. Dynamic events are. Hearts were created to keep people in the areas where dynamic events spawn. Always prioritize dynamic events over hearts. In end game zones hearts don’t exist at all and it’s all dynamic events.
On the rabbit quest, to use one example, there are other ways to get that heart without carrying food. For example you can scare the rabbits.
In fact, even if you’re carrying food, you can hit F to scare the rabbits. Plus the foot itself gives you a speed buff if you hit one. Also dodging works and will move you to your destination a bit faster.
In answer to your question, no there aren’t a lot of annoying hearts like that anyway, but usually, if something seems really annoyingly difficult, there’s another way to do it.
My take on this is comes from a more casual side and I also admit that I like this game.
There are dungeons. The dungeons are no longer the ‘quick way to make gold’. I have recently needed to play dungeons some and I have not had a problem finding a group once. Recommend playing every path of each 8 dungeons at least once. (Besides there is an achievement for it.)
Raiding is new. I have not tried it myself yet, but mostly people who do raid seem to think it is fun. Maybe some day… It is certainly something to work for.
That particular Heart is, how to put it, different. You can fill the heart doing other stuff like killing aggressive things near by. However, it is a very good way to practice dodging. Dodging is a very essential skill in this game. Those bunnies get me still too often though. I used to hate that heart, now it makes me feel I accomplished something when I do dodge the hungry rabbits and get that bag delivered.
Hearts in general are there to bring people to the areas where the dynamic events take place. Often doing the event actually completes the heart effortlessly. Events are an excellent way to gain XP and they can be repeated by the same character unlike hearts.
Raids and fractals, I suppose, are official ‘end game’ content as both require a fully equipped lvl 80 character. Only a couple of Dungeons are for lvl 80, but often people do not do them until they get to lvl 80 anyway.
The Expansion areas are all end game too. I would like to do more of the meta events there, but currently I am a bit short of time.
Hey OP, just wander zones and things will just happen. Complete those things and watch your XP bar go up. Don’t look for quests in the old school MMO sense of the word. Just play. Don’t grind mobs. There aren’t quest givers per se. You will explore and then an event will pop up. Once you get used to how GW2 plays you will most likely enjoy it.
GW2’s goal is for you to have fun! PvE, PvP, WvW, raids, dungeons, trading post wars, fashion wars, it’s all out there for you to try!
The work they did with the raidzone should had been layed on WvW instead (cash, ppl etc). And legendary armor, ya, well there’s always options/ideas how to get that ^^

This and many more things like GvG, Jumping Puzzles …
Try everything and do whatever you enjoy. I play most aspects of GW2 (I hate JP) and have a lot of fun. And if one aspect is temporarily in a bad state (like PvP at the moment) I just play something different and wait for a fix.
The goal is enjoying yourself. It’s a game. With online friends.
