Content wise? Not as near as much you would expect from an MMO. It’s a couple of additional sub-mini-dungeons in fractals and one additional map.

‘would have/would’ve been’ —> correct
‘would of been’ —> wrong

What the poster above means is no new stuff he’d consider new content. Plenty of stuff new. New tier of gear (ascended), new Living Story content, guild missions, new meta events, new jumping puzzles, new mini dungeon, new dynamic events, new path in Twilight Arbor dungeon, Tequatl has been completely revamped, AC has been revamped (all three paths). New PvP arenas, a new WvW map, quality of life changes including an account wallet, account bound dyes, mega server. Most crafting professions now go to 500.

A lot of the content that has been in the game is gone, since most of the first season of the Living Story was temporary content. Going forward, Living Story content will be permanent.

If u compare what we received till today to a full-fledged expansion a regular mmo gets, we didn’t get that much specially considering the first almost 2 years were temporary content + a few bug fixes + a few UI tweaks.

But in their defense Season 2 of LS is definitely a huge improvement story wise and it started introducing permanent content + so far released 1 full new map that is actually enjoyable and has interesting mechanics.

That said…it’s still not enough. This game really needs an expansion that introduces multiple zones, dungeons, hearts, quests, mobs, even races/armors, RAIDS, craftable precursors and stuff like this ALL AT ONCE. It’s been 2 years now and the game more or less is in a very similar overall state to what it was back when it was released even with all the changes i listed above.

I still don’t understand why ANet is so against a proper expansion that would 100% bring in a ton of money and also give people enough new impactful and visible stuff that would keep them occupied.

ANet started doing LS the way it should be…but in my eyes LS should be considered a BUFFER between major expansions. Only then will i consider ANet has achieved something remarkable in the mmo genre because that would literally mean continuous content that keeps u 24/7 interested in the game offering both small changes and huge changes at the same time. Right now the content keeps u ingame 1-2 days. The rest u can forget about GW2 untill the next LS release and so on, honestly.

It’s tricky because GW2 releases content differently to other MMO’s, which is part of the appeal to many. There was an excellent listing on the forums once of all the things still in game that are permanent, since a large portion of 2013 content was temporary sadly.

since 2012 off the top of my head that is still in game;

- New zone + elder dragon + minions + events + story
- new WVW map
- champions drop lootboxes which can contain t6 mats/rares/exotic and above
- meta bosses have new timers plus improved guaranteed rewards.
- crafting goes to 500
- new tier of armour and weapons – Ascended
- new wardrobe system for customising looks
- 3 new fractals
- 1 new dungeon path, plus revamps of old ones
- megaservers increase population on maps
- Tequatl is now an open world raid with exclusive loots
- new very hard open world raid Triple Headed Jungle Wurm. AGain with exclusive rewards
- Achievement points for a wider range of activities
- New mini games
- Lions Arch in ruins after a massive battle
- Various profession balances
- Exclusive events for Guilds, including bounties/rushes/puzzles/exploration
- New jumping puzzle(s)
- Lots of new armour skins in gem store
- lots of new weapon skins from champion boxes
- LFG mode

and of course, all the temporary storylines/festivals/open world battles/map changes which you will have missed

For some that is satisfactory, to others it isn’t. GW2 had a strong core base with a huge map, so we were quite spoilt in some ways, but I can understand why people expect more. Realistically this game is completely free after you have purchased it, so the best way to find out…is to try it
